This obviously was a political move, and a good one at that. However, the data and evidence that suggests that medical malpractice reform is not complete and certainly does not allow us to make causation claims.
OBAMA GOING TO TRIAL ON HIS BIRTH CERTIFICATE !!!. Trial is scheduled in January 2010 - Regan Federal Court Building, Federal Judge Carter, Santa Ana, CA.
YIPPPEEE ---- Time to watch our Justice System in true action and our Constitutional rights upheld against Communism.
he can't do that, the dimocrats are supported by the trial lawyers. ubama knows that he is just doing his normal BS, and when the lawyers say they will stop donating, he will forget all about tort reform. He lies too much to be president.
Everyone needs to be held accountable for errors. Reform does not mean elimination of our right to sue . The schools, businesses, individuals, etc all are plagued by frivalous law suits and "ambulance chasers" .
The lawyers need to be held accountable also. Perhaps along with national healthcare, we need "national malpractice carriers." As a OB in COOK Cty, we pay $150,000 a year to deliver babies. My ex partner made 42,000 3 years ago, after the overhead expenses. The rates are killing us, when coupled with the decreased reimbursements. An OB in Montana pays 1/5th of what we do for coverage.
These are more the things that need to be addressed. The personal injury attorneys heavily finance the politicians and it is difficult for them to consider even discussing malpractice. When families do receive financial rewards for their loved ones' needs, suffering, etc:the lawyers take up to 30%. This can be millions. The profit to the attorneys also needs to be reviewed.
I dont think "caps" are the answer. Honesty, integrity and compassion to fellow human beings would go a long way. Drop the frivalous suits before they go anywhere. Hold attorneys accountable for encouraging pts to "play the lotto". Get malpractice back to reasonable suits, ? no
National health spending is expected to reach $2.5 trillion in 2009, accounting for 17.6 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP). By 2018, national health care expenditures are expected to reach $4.4 trillion—more than double 2007 spending. (Sitka)
The Republicans and or Obama plan, is just more of the same. Plenty of profit for the greedy pharmaceuticals and the health care companies. We should model a European Plan, is just 10% of their GDP & we'll save 1 Trillion dollars a year.
We need to step up our game and get involved. For ways in which you can do that visit the comment section of my profile. For thoes of you who are still confused about health care reform may also find the information there useful as I have several resources listed including the ez to read version of the bill and much more.
Right now, medical malpractice is like a lottery for the Lawyers because if you file and lose, you have virtually nothing invested. If however, you file a suit and lose and were responsible to pay ALL costs for the defendant I suspect we could thin the heard considerably. Right now, lawyers, for a very small investment (virtually no risk) have a shot a winning the Lotto. I'm pretty sure their odds are better than the Lotto though!
Now, raise your hand if you think any of those jubilant standing, clapping troglodytes is actually going to vote for this or any reform while Barack Obama is President.
Haha, yeah, those dip shits wont vote for anything Obama puts up. But another problem (with a slight majority at the moment) is the dip shits that will vote for ANYTHING that Obama puts up. We've got to get over the stupid party politics and do what is right for this country. And that is not making the rich buy the poor health insurance.
Also I like how the Republicans have been saying TORT reform, and now Obama has adopted it as his own. If hes not careful, the Republicans will stop liking it.
You pay for it three times over when someone goes to the emergency room without insurance. They can't turn people away---they took the Hippocratic oath. Now, the sensible thing would be to force the Ins. Co.s to provide affordable health care so middle-class and rich people won't have to subsidize the burden.
That wasn't spontaneous applause by the republican it's there form of disruption like in the town house meetings get a clue Obama!!!!!!!!!. We used that old trick in debating class to shorten the time of the person speaking.
You know that he can talk as long as he wants, right? No amount of applause is going to shorten the length of time he has to speak.
They were applauding this point because they Agree with it -- it's one of the things the Right have been insisting needs to be included in a comprehensive healthcare reform bill.
Oh, you can't? That's okay. Someone will still believe you.
Honestly, do you think c-span is just going to cut the President of the United States off in the middle of a speech because it cuts in to the time they've set aside for reactions to the speech and viewer calls?
The burden of proof lies with the person making the positive claim. That's you.
You still haven't answered my other question: Do you think that c-span (or any news station, for that matter) is just going to cut the President of the United States off in the middle of a speech?

UPDATE***The LIBS are right now flooding Joe Wilson's OFFICE for telling OBAMA THE TRUTH - that he is lying about not covering illegals aliens. (Uh, Read the bill, folks!) Illegals are covered which is an insult & outrage! *Shame on OBAMA! **WILSON Deserves Praise! Let him know that you appreciate his comment to BO tonight! Fax: 202-225-2455 Ph: (803) 939-0041 Lowcountry Office Phone: (843) 521-2530 Fax: (843) 521-2535 The Washington Office PH (202) 225-2452 FX (202) 225-2455 God Bless!
Obama is lying about covering illegals? Too bad it's written explicitly in the bill that UNDOCUMENTED WORKERS DO *NOT* QUALIFY for health care credits.
Why is it that FACTS always tend to be so detrimental to ditto-head arguments?
So I ask are you retarded? Which part of the bill is that in? Oh it isn't OK, so in fact you will be forced to buy a policy even if you don't want one. I'm pretty sure that's the opposite of free. Also you will be taxed to subsidize insurance for other ppl. If that's what you call free I would hate to think of what you call bondage.
Obama is a liar! one of the first things he did was raise taxes on tobacco and now there is talk about a tax on unhealthy food and drinks. He also said he would tax the insurance companies. Who do you think will pay for that?
I love Obama, i hope most people in the USA share the same feeling.
