Some of the best memories of my childhood were here - Wolffie!! DJ Mike (both of them) geez I even helped work the skate rental room. I'm al little sad to watch the video & see what has become of what was once a great place.
great video, I got so many stories from hanging out here in the late 80's, birthday parties, school sponsored events here, and place always had the up to date arcade games....growing up in BS, it was sad to see the de-evolution if you will, of this place, how it became an abandoned run down haven for drug addicts, the homeless, gangs, and eventually a Lucile Roberts of all places. Good times were had here.
Since I've lived on long island all my life I've skated there when I was a kid in the eighties. I'm guessing it was a cool find, sort of like playing in an abandoned park like Action park in New Jersey a decade ago.
I'm from East Islip and I used to go there as a kid in the mid 90's. It was pretty active until 1999 when it shut its doors for good for unknown reasons.
What you guys thought was a great find and fun for a few hours in your life was total disgust and sadness for generations of people who enjoyed skating at the Bay Shore Roller Rink. It was so sad when this place shut down, left to rot away for years and then finally torn down. Some of my fondest memories come from the first time my mother took me roller skating as a young child in the 60's to then speed skating competitions there in the 90's.Gone for years but I miss it still.

Also this place was torn down in 2009 and has been replaced by a Lucille Roberts gym.
