Ppl ... what about the US high speed rail??? We have the Acela... It's got a snack bar that serve hotdogs and beer. The seats are so cool, you can flip the backrest the other side so passengers can face each other. Traveling from nyc to boston only takes 6 to 7 hrs, and you don't have to worry about traffic.. The Acela also has electric outlets you can plug your laptop. Due to its high speed, internet connection breaks once in a while, but it's high speed... The Acela is the best in the world!!

The Acela max speed is just 240kph, but its trip average is less than HALF of that (i.e only slightly faster than a car on the highway), and its very noisy like any other old fashioned train that has wheels on tracks. The Chinese maglev trains don't have wheels on tracks, they're almost silent floating above the track. They accelerate to 4-500kph and they just sit at that speed until the stop. Far superior to anything in the USA.

A cigar place vertically on the table does not tip as its stability had proven. Furthermore, Acela is built on old tracks which is modify to accommodate them but China built newer tracks for maximum performance. A trip from Beijing to Shanghai can be as short as 4 hours on CRH train and speeding on longer journey than Boston to NYC.

WTF first of all, shanghai maglev is NOT the fastest in the world. The fastest maglev is Japanese 581km/hr. Secondly the building cost at shanghai is so high that the daily revenue not even good enough to pay the INTEREST of the building cost, so this is a huge losing money maglev. But no doubt this is a record of the world the daily income not enough to pay the interest of the construction and just forget the hugh construction cost and revenue.

Maglev was invented many years ago in Britain by Eric Laithwate. As usual though we gave the invention away. Now with the proposed high-speed rail network being planned for Britain to run with conventional trains on wheels, it seems that the U.K. is as behind as ever whilst other countries, notably China forge ahead.

WTF first of all, shanghai maglev is NOT the fastest in the world. The fastest maglev is Japanese 581km/hr. Secondly the building cost at shanghai is so high that the daily revenue not even good enough to pay the INTEREST of the building cost, so this is a huge losing money maglev. But no doubt this is a record of the world the daily income not enough to pay the interest of the construction and just forget the hugh construction cost and revenue.
