i saw a clip on here, somewhere lol, ed was in his hotel room. a camera was rolling as ed opened the door. he holds up the 2 pieces of the original and he drops them into the hallway. a few seconds later, the security guy bangs on his door. when ed opens his door, the sec. guy tosses the 2 pieces back into ed's room and as the door was closing, ed had this grin on his face like, thats what i pay him for. too funny.

it's a strat copy. there is a vid on youtube ,somewhere, and ed gives the history of the original guitar. in a nut shell, the wood is boogie boards who supplied wood to charvel who made a fender strat copy. some years later fender bought charvel.

Back in '84 all I could afford was an Aria Pro Strat copy. I tore that thing apart and rebuilt it so many times it would make your head spin. 2 years ago I gave it to my daughter. Every now and again I grab it and play it. That son of a bitch sounds better than my Les Paul or my Strat. Eddie had the right idea. Make it your own. Beat the hell out of it and have fun.

Yes, he's still playing 5150s, but they aren't under the Peavey name any longer. From the trade magazine articles i've read, he's coming out with a whole line of guitars, amps, and effects under the "EVH" brand, which will be under the Fender umbrella of companies. The "frankenstein" replica was made by fender in their custom shop, as will most, if not all, of the other products in the line. I'm sure they will all be incredibly expensive, but we'll see.
