This song has a melody that soars high in the 80's summer clouds, truly unforgettable , the most infectious beat and melody that could sum up the sensuos side of the 80's, truly the best, my personal fave forever
One of the best songs of the eighties. Think of any genre of music back then and the best came from"Canada", as proven by this masterpiece. GO CANADA GO!
One of the best songs ? The Smiths, Fad gadget, Virgin Prunes, Minimal Compact, Sonic Youth, Gavin Friday, New Order, Tones on Tail, Bauhaus, etc, those are great bands. Boys Brigade is a minor band, weak music ! Sorry !
why were canadian bands so much cooler than american bands of the same era? my theory...a combination of yank and brit influence makes for an original sound thats hard to duplicate. just my opinion.
Yeap! I'm from Toronto too! Scarborough actually, now live in Japan...Remember this classic from my High school days back in 83/84! Just an awesome song. Don't ya wish you could just go back in time to those days for about week and relive all those great memories I'm sure we all have??!!
"when you're in love, when you're afraid, and when you're alone, hear me call. There's nothing to fear, there's nothing as dear as 'THE PASSION OF LOVE' About half of the views on this song are from me. Meaningful and dancible, a rare combo for any of todays crap.
A toast to Malcolm Burns and the lads from Deep River. A timeless song that never fails to bring a grin to my ugly mug. Well done, lads. And yes, Canadian new wave blew the doors off those who aspired to greatness but could never match or better that sound...
being a Canadian I think only Britain and Canada fell in love with new wave, i don't think new wave music was that big in the States.....most band's came from England and Canada......I'm not saying I didn't listen to Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi or G & R but New Order, Depeche Mode and Duran Duran were huge.
I agree 100%! I miss their old format from the early to mid 80's when they were "Toronto's Modern Rock" station. I've never heard a better station before or since then.
What about Bronski Beat? Communards? I happen to really like their stuff and I am straight as an arrow. Fag music?? I don't agree that any of that music can be labelled.
I think I should have put a winking emoticon. I was trying to make a point about how, to me, things with loud roaring guitars and attitude are 'fag music', as opposed to, oh, dance music.
a staple in the canadian music industry in the 80's, also includes "melody", and "into the flow", bad break-up caused the band to seek other avenues, but album never made into CD only singles to compilations...but definitely not gay
every hardcore death metal punk, every electrotrance neohippee slob, every pixies admiring pseudopsycho supersonic space lounge soundophile seems to grudgingly admit their affection for this song.
A vid dedicated to MILFs and Cougars everywhere! Blows my mind that Geddy Lee produced this album since it seems outside his genre. One of the catchiest tunes of the '80s, I think. I would be doing yardwork or mountain biking years later (even last week) and catch myself humming this tune. Thanks for posting.
Ooohhhh Yay! *jumps around excitedly*

ordureblanchie... I wonder what brought you to this song then, the fact that its good, or you know nothing about Canadian music in general.

This album by the Boys Brigade was also the first time Geddy Lee of Rush dove into producing an album for other talent. A fine job.

@jhigh64 The American market was dominantly ruled by the mainstream. Laura Branigan, Footloose, Dirty Dancing...

i miss living in toronto in the early 80s and the real CFNY, songs like this remind of a time in my life that was cool, being 20
mikeemerylevesque 3 years ago 2
cfny or 102.1 Edge was awesome in the 80's... way ahead of it's time.
quincee33 3 years ago
cfny was the shit!!!

Agreed ! We used to pronounce it C F'ng Y.
Seeing the band's "dates" reminds me of when I watch Manhattan. When I first saw it I was younger than Muriel Hemingway. Now I'm older than Woody.

No, Husker Du and Pansy Division is fag music. This is music whose participants' sexual orientation is irrelevant.
(And, before someone pounces, I happen to BE a fag, so I'm allowed to use that word ;) ).
