By saying the movie is lame you are calling the story of James J. Braddock lame. You obviously did not see the true beauty in the film where it wasn't all about the boxing it was about the trials and tribulations of a man who earned the opportunity for a better life. It is a pity you cannot see brilliance when it is thrust upon you

Ron Howard excelled himself with this film. One of the best films I've seen in a long long time. This is the type of film Hollywood should make more often, but sadly they prefer to make junk for money instead. How Paul Giamatti didn't win the best supporting actor Oscar I'll never know. He shot right up in my estimation after seeing him in this film.

Now, I hear you say that this is nothing new. It's what historical movies do all the time. Yet I find the misinformation in this movie egregious.

Actually, if you watch the Baer-Braddock fight on Youtube, you will see that there was no animosity at all (apart from the usual in boxing) between the two men.

@rayc916 I think I don't mind too much about history being changed. I just dislike being manipulated by what is, essentially, propaganda. And I do worry that some people will consider the movie to be historically accurate. There are, of course, many things in the movie which are accurate. The historically inaccurate bits just undermine its credibility for me.

And, on a much less emotive level, I do think the movie is insulting to the intelligence of movie-goers.

There was a scene in the movie when braddock's daughter wanted another slice of salamy but they didnt had becuse they were rly poor and they had to save some for the other kids But Braddock gave hes slice to his daughter and he went working on a empty stomach DAMN that scene made me cry

This kind of sacrifice parents are willing to do for theyr children even if it means starvation for themselves

this movie is amazing so touching
