ive just noticed not many people mentioned megaman zx in the comments and that acctually has a big part in his story. as far as i understand it zeros heart got switched after he lost the sigma virus somehow and whoever was the evil scientist dude in zx3 used zeros original body to make a new zero with the intentions of zero while he still had the virus however this may take place after the megaman x games because zero still has his original body in those.

It's actually said that the virus was originally leaked when Sigma hit zero's crystal in his helmet, which then removed it from zero and transferred it to Sigma during the battle cutscene from x4. It then some how infected other reploids.

Thats MOSTLY true...but you have to think. Sigma was made leader of the Maverick Hunters to capture infected Reploids. How could Sigma be the one to spread the virus originally? There had to have been Mavericks before then. Zero has to have been the one to infect Reploids and make them Maverick in the first place or Sigma and the Hunters wouldnt even exist. Only afterwards did Sigma start becoming the main Reploid to infect other Reploids. Zero wasnt anymore because he was cleansed of the virus.

I think it is more of a mind tranferal. remember that in the arcade game, bass and wily are seen arguing over zeros body, showing that is over. Perhaps wily somehow ransfered/mixed the both of them, since Zero is based on X blueprints (presumably) wich in turn is based off megaman and protoman designs

Please. Zero is the worst character in the MMX series. To keep him interesting, they keep killing him off and bringing him back. If he's so much better than X, why does he keep dying? Not only is he inferior to X, but he's just as uninteresting. Hell, I used to think he was a girl.

Zero was built for Bass's Blue prints.

And Mega was built from Protoman's BluePrints Mega then became megaman..megaman x was built from megaman's blueprint's. Then megaman x was built from megaman and Protoman's blue prints..meaning they were his prototype's.

You know I noticed that too but there is no definite proof. Originally Zero was suppose to have a small shield integrated into his buster, it can be seen in concept art. Zero's jewel thingy on his head contained the Zero Virus, I think that Wily wanted to use that as a backup incase Zero was ever defeated to turn the bot that defeated him against it's creator. When Sigma smashed it and knocked out Zero that virus was transfered to Sigma. And as for Zero either he was reprogrammed while Dr.Cain analyzed him or when Sigma knocked him out his programming reset somehow.
