in blender you can (pre)calculate such animations and then render it...your graphics card actually has no effect on the resulting video...if your pc is bad you just take veeerrry long to render.
a good cpu and sometimes lots of ram...at the moment i have a project running that probably will render the next five days...and i have not the worst cpu(athlon 64 X2 3800+)

@05killabean50 This is Houdini, but it also precalculates everything. Also pretty much all renders these days are cpu based
