Hi, no they aren't quiter, they won't trigger at all (no LED flash either), can't believe I've been so blind, googled the very same thing you suggested and missed.. ;) I'll check it out, hopefully I'll figure out what to do, thanks for your response and help!
Hi, I bought one of these and I love the sounds, however, I don't really quite understand how to hook it up to MIDI, I take it that the switch at the back determs which channel will be "1" and up, from 1-4, I have it set on 4 and has assigned a MIDI OUT from my Machinedrum to it but its just quiet on every tone, same thing when I try changing MIDI channels and switches on the back of the ADX. Do you know where to find a manual or how to set it up? Thanks
@narki86 I went to Google and typed in "MAM ADX 1 Manual" and the result right below my video link was a link to the manual. Are you saying that the sounds are quieter when triggered from your SPS-1 than when you press the manual trigger buttons? If so, check the settings on the SPS-1 to see what MIDI velocity level is being transmitted. Maximum MIDI velocity is 127. Try triggering the ADX-1 from a velocity sensitive keyboard as well.
Hi I just picked one up but unfortunately the bass section does not work. Do you know of anyone out there who has done work to one of these and if so please send me a message. Schematics would be great, I havent been able to find much on it.
Yes, they are out of business, but the Vermona DRM is basically the same unit with three extra instrument tracks - 8 instead of 5. I believe it has 2 "toms" and a "clap".
Actually, the Vermona DRM and MAM ADX-1 do not sound remotely the same. Perhaps some of the same designers were involved, but they are completely different designs. I've had both and there is hardly any overlap in the sound. The MAM is more unconventional sounding. Generally a lot less useful than a DRM, but it has a couple of unique sounds and features that make it a keeper for me.
cool cheers 4 helpin me out on that one. just needed to no how that worked on a 909. my 999 was 4 ext midi channel but they are only monophonic goin to dig the sampler out cheers
Very good demo,. I love drum synths like this one, because allow you to create more personal sound than the standard drum machines. I've posted it on switchedonsynthesizer.blogspot . com
cool nice unit can ya tell if it is poss to play chords with the 909 external parts so that playing back patterns you have different chords in patterns cheers out.
The 909's External Instrument mode will transmit triggers on MIDI note numbers 36 through 51. So it is possible to trigger chords in that note range, but you will need to program your sound with 4' or 2' octave settings. What most people use the Ext Inst mode for is to trigger drum samples along with the 909's internal sounds.
Not bad. Reminds me of early Human League stuff.

Yes, I was noticing that unique sound! Particularly on that snare - it's almost "chiptune" but sharper. Interesting, wouldn't mind having both.
See my newly uploaded Vermona demo for NoiseBug!
