I agree ziggy..Before I purchased this head unit, I had a cheaper single din JVC Arsenal in my truck. It had both front and rear usb ports...And a remote!! Man I miss that remote
I just don't understand why JVC's best stereo, doesn't have a Rear- USB port .... (?)...Who wants to have have I-Pod cable sticking out, getting in your way...
How well does Pandora work with this unit? I'm in the market for a double din and so far this has been the top of my list with features and functionality.
@RacerJames76 Alas - you are correct, the NT30 and NT50 do not allow you to capture your own images to use for the background, you are given a choice of 5 pre-loaded backgrounds. Customized background images are a feature of the KW-AVX840, sorry for the confusion.
So I got the NT30HD because the 50HDT is not available in Canada. Another cool feature not mentioned is the SD slot in the detachable face, I find that super handy to store my favorite media on with quick access. HD radio is useless in Canada. I cant seem to get my iheart radio to work or link up, no song or station info on FM, not a big fan of the frontside usb, on BT with iphone no album art. Maybe and I hope im missing something there. Also no mute or atten for the SWI. Help please!
@TheHundrethmonkey Biggest thing I had trouble with on the install was and still is locating the speed pulse wire for the Navigation, not sure why this is needed or what it does. Nobody seems to have any info on this. Any ideas.
@TheHundrethmonkey the speed pulse wire tells the GPS how fast you're going, so if you go into a tunnel, or a city with tall buildings and lose the GPS signal, the unit can estimate how far you've gone since the signal was lost. So.. it's not totally necessary, but probably helpful if you do a lot of city driving
@jwt2005 Thanks, ya I doubt Ill be going through the trouble to connect that. Im assuming you have this unit so have you figured a way to get the station tags on normal FM stations to show up? Cant seem to find any info on the FM stations like b4. Did you connect a PAC SWI, dont think there is an Atten or mute for the unit. If there is its not working for me.
I have had the same issue Paradoxical719. But from what I have seen I decided I am going to get it. I have an appointment to have it installed with the back up camera and steering wheel controls on July 23. If you want I could take a video of the features you were wondering about. That would be neat.
Hey JVC - I've narrowed down my head unit selection to the KW-NT50HDT being in the top spot. However, the biggest thing troubling me at the moment is the seeming lack of independent reviews anywhere on the intertubez. Do you folks not ship out review units, or am I just not finding any? In either case, do you know where I can find a couple?
It seems like a solid unit, but like any good consumer, I'm just trying to find some third party verification. :)

@RacerJames76 There is a video on the JVC Car Audio channel that shows you how to customize your background - look for the video titled "Wallpaper Capture for JVC Multimedia Receivers"
does it play standard dvd's? would be nice to watch a movie when I'm parked and waiting for my kids at school or a sporting event

Is there a way to do firmware upgrades on this unit? Not map updates, but for general bug fixes etc.
jwt2005 7 months ago
@jwt2005 Yes there is - you can find out more about firmware updates by visiting the 'Software Updates' page on the JVC website here:

Other than all that this unit is great.
