When Nicene Christianity was made the official religion of Rome in 380 A.D Christains went on a large anti-pagan campaign to rid Rome of all pagan influence. Then you have the Crusaders, the Inquistion, and the Spanish conquistadors and missionaries who abused Mayan, Inca and Aztec indians in the New world on top of the wars between Catholics and Protestants in the 16th and 17th centuries that followed the reformation.

Christianity - 1.9 Billion adherents.

Islam - 1.1 Billion adh.

Hinduism 781 Million adh.

Buddhism 324 Million adh.

The next largest one, Sikhism has 19 million adherents, which illustrates the difference in size between the larger religions and the others.

Judaism is sixth largest at 14 million adherents.
