hi, i am in Canada, just east of Toronto, seriously, with all the hype and reports and leaks and speculation, when is the new stuff due out? i need a new BB asap, and am trying to wait, but i need a launch date, and a carrier to discuss it with, pls, post back asap, thanks a lot. (i sell real estate)

Okay, so obviously that is for the BB Storm, cause it's touch screen and all. I have no idea how they'll integrate this into non-touchscreen phones like the Bold, Curve, ect. And if they do, it'll be very hard to navigate. :[

I just hate the OS and have to pull the battery at least once a month to be able just to use the phone. I am on my 5th one in two years, but we are switching to HTC soon can't wait! Again for me it's the OS and the rest is either glass or plastic.
its about time, storm II was (is) diabolical. The keyboard+surepress is just unusable. Please let us turn off surepress (and solidify the screen) and use proper touch control and maybe just maybe the storm will become a usable device.

This powerful iCandy OS will bring the full potential of the amazing Storm 2. As of right now I'm at 5.0.0.713 official firmware OS. Meaning about 2 more upgrade improvement till the brand new OS 6 is ready for download. I'll say around late September as the CEO promised to be ready in the fourth quarter of this year. BB Storm 2 9550 is awesome!

The os is not exclusive for touchscreens, the optical track pad is going to act as the "touch" to scroll around the new OS. Also more querty blackberries with trackpads are sold than the strugling touchscreen storms, so BB wouldn't cripple the majority and future blackberry owners. The os will smoothly run with track pad.

Does anyone know if the calendar option the only agenda-like application? I'd really like to be able to use my smartphone as an agenda however iPhone sucks on that part in my opinion. I'd really hope that Blackberry (6) has a good organiser.

@GameBoyHD Because RIM seem to have lost focus on what I loved about BBs. What I loved about my old 7230 was that it had a fantastic physical keyboard (I have yet to find a better keyboard on a phone) and fantastic, unique software. These recent touchscreen BBs just feel like the same sort of half-baked iPhone-esque stuff that everyone seems to be doing these days. That's just my 2 cents though :)

Thumbs up on BB 6.0, but nevertheless a thumbs down to the use of "Boom Boom Pow" by The B.E.P.

Thing about the iPhone is it might do less but what it does doesn't need you to be a geek. I've had tons of phones that could do tons of stuff I never needed or got to work properly... Paid for something that was supposedly great because it could do stuff I never needed or actually used... I used to have a blackberry a couple of years ago and actually loved it. Seeing this thing ripping off iOS doesn't make me wanna buy one today though.
I love BB OS, what's funny, is that my passed three phones have been Nokias. iPhone OS is basic, it's made for tards who can't figure it out. Android is overrated. Symbian, as much of a Nokia fan that I am, is dated and the touch edition (s60v5) is pathetic. Bada is a waste of time. BB OS 4 and below suck bad. Low hardware, sluggish performance, BB OS 5 is customizable and fast. Getting my Bold 9700 in two days and I can't wait.
dude as much as i love my storm 2 and rim i have to move on. my incredible is on it's way from verizon (whenever they get off back order lol) i even paid retail. os 6 should of been done a year or two ago not when rim feels like iphone and htc are becoming threats smh this new os may not even save rim now.
The main problem is, that this is something EVERY smartphone vendor needs to understand: Apple made a goldmine with the iPhone and the iOS. It's easy to use, it's extremely fast and capable of doing anything, and the App Store gives it an incredible expandibility on the go.
The other vendors will end up trying to take ideas from Apple's success, which in the end it might not be that abd if they know how to hit Apple.

This powerful iCandy OS will bring the full potential of the amazing Storm 2. As of right now I'm at 5.0.0.713 official firmware OS. Meaning about 2 more upgrade improvement till the brand new OS 6 is ready for download. I'll say around late September as the CEO promised to be ready in the fourth quarter of this year. BB Storm 2 9550 is awesome!

@LALOMAN18 Hey, I was able to find out that phones with 512 will get the upgrade, phones with 256 may or may not.
The os is not exclusive for touchscreens, the optical track pad is going to act as the "touch" to scroll around the new OS. Also more querty blackberries with trackpads are sold than the strugling touchscreen storms, so BB wouldn't cripple the majority and future blackberry owners. The os will smoothly run with track pad.

Its verizon's top touch screen phone, it OS 6 can run smoothly on track pad phones imagine what it can do on touchscreens running this new smoother, faster OS? There's 3rd party apps that can make your memory card be use as virtual ram for faster speeds! BB is tweeking the new OS to use less memory for it to run smoother & faster and create a non memory leak environment, kind of what apple has done to their new OS 4... The iCandy features of the OS will make that possible. The Storm 2 is perfect for this OS, having the so real feal of feeling like you actually clicking button on the screen. Its not too big, not too small. its a man's phone in weight.

@taezer27 i disagree, every phone can multi task, when you make a call, send a txt msg and take pictures etc, is this not by definition "multitasking" as for the app store argument again I think your theory is flawed. when I jail broke my ipod and ipod touch there was all kinds of 'APPS" for them,long before there was mention of 'iPhone' Apple just got smart and figured out how to make some $ on it. BB & iPhone are both great phones for different reasons,which is why I own both

@GameBoyHD Because RIM seem to have lost focus on what I loved about BBs. What I loved about my old 7230 was that it had a fantastic physical keyboard (I have yet to find a better keyboard on a phone) and fantastic, unique software. These recent touchscreen BBs just feel like the same sort of half-baked iPhone-esque stuff that everyone seems to be doing these days. That's just my 2 cents though :)

It's safe to say that the people from RIM were completely unaware of the response they would receive from the audience that viewed this demonstration. While I must say that I was impressed with the software displayed, I must add that their method of presenting it was unorthodox to say the least, as well as ill-prepared in regards to the demographics of their audience of actual BB users. Thumbs up on BB 6.0, but nevertheless a thumbs down to the use of "Boom Boom Pow" by The B.E.P.

Thing about the iPhone is it might do less but what it does doesn't need you to be a geek. I've had tons of phones that could do tons of stuff I never needed or got to work properly... Paid for something that was supposedly great because it could do stuff I never needed or actually used... I used to have a blackberry a couple of years ago and actually loved it. Seeing this thing ripping off iOS doesn't make me wanna buy one today though.

I love BB OS, what's funny, is that my passed three phones have been Nokias. iPhone OS is basic, it's made for tards who can't figure it out. Android is overrated. Symbian, as much of a Nokia fan that I am, is dated and the touch edition (s60v5) is pathetic. Bada is a waste of time. BB OS 4 and below suck bad. Low hardware, sluggish performance, BB OS 5 is customizable and fast. Getting my Bold 9700 in two days and I can't wait.

The main problem is, that this is something EVERY smartphone vendor needs to understand: Apple made a goldmine with the iPhone and the iOS. It's easy to use, it's extremely fast and capable of doing anything, and the App Store gives it an incredible expandibility on the go.
The other vendors will end up trying to take ideas from Apple's success, which in the end it might not be that abd if they know how to hit Apple.
Problem with Apple is that it's platform is very restricted, and even when
