Dont even compare forza to GT5/P forza is a fully completed game GT5/P is just a taster of what is to come with GT5. It dosent even have all the physics in yet. So i would hardly say it was a "big big mistake".
Besides as overflo03 stated they do move in the retail GT5/P, if you are driving it in manual that is..

that was only in the gt5 prologue DEMO!!! where they didn't move, but in gt5 porlogue they do now
