Mais quand j'ai vu le show à Montréal, milieu des années 80, le son et Joe étaient merdique, ca ressemblait à du hardcore et nous avions peine à reconnaitre les tunes.Ils n'ont même pas jouer "Should i stay or should i go" ni "Rock the gasbah".
hate to break it to you, but other than weed, in the early days it was speed. In his later years Ecstasy and various psychedelics. He apparently avoided coke because a little bit went a long way with him. Read the biography. Although you're probably right that he's not stoned in this vid :P
Yea Joe was just known for REALLY getting into his performances, so prob not stoned here just really psyched, but then again I wasn't there so that's just what I think
I heard a lot of them say they hated hippies, but I never heard any that said they hated drugs. Maybe downers, since they mellow you out but never speed or coke or things like that.
wow...amazing...joe has so much passion...mick is a genius...paul has rythm..and topper is a machine...they were all great at what they did which really did make them the only band that mattered. R.I.P Joe Strummer.
At the end, Joe was crowd surphing without the crowd, ouch! Then he gets back up, climbs the barrier fencing and walks off stage, casual, as if he just danced with a pretty girl, but like all in a day's work! Brilliant and beautiful.
bloody hell, joe 0:28

The Clash were a band that liked being with their fans, which not many bands do
Wish I could've seen them live

no he smoked weed and hash. and there is speculation that he tried heroin a few times
deadratfromhell 3 years ago
in the future is unwritten there's fottage of the band dropping acid too.
clashaddict 3 years ago
That was a joke, Joe in his early punk days notoriously hated hippies. I'm pretty sure they were handing each other crackers in the movie.
lennonforever40 2 years ago 4
oh maybe yeh, you might be right, it was a quick part of the movie, however you wouldn't put acid past em, its not purely a "hippie drug'.
clashaddict 2 years ago
Thats something I never understood. They said they hated drugs/hippies, but yet they did drugs.
Oh well. I still love the clash
AshleyRox14 2 years ago 4
They started saying they hated drugs and hippies after they experienced drugs and thought of drug users as nothing but lazy "hippies".
They tried it, later on realized drugs were the only thing getting in the way of keeping a band together.
For fucks sakes topper...
PartyBoy64 2 years ago 3
Drugs are not for only Hippies...there's a lot of yuppies using coke here at my work!

I'm pretty sure it was mints. Joe and Mick were being sarcastic. Although later on Joe did try Ecstasy when he was getting into his rave phase.

Man, you missed what they were saying. We're all garage bands. We're all that good. We're all that passionate.
Don't miss life, because you're not rich, you're not famous, you've got no talent.
Just enjoy yourself.
Stop hiding in sanity.
You're not sane.
None of us are.
