  • British expat. It seems everything that is coarse bad mannered ignorent and disgusting comes out of Britain today. British pop culture a world leader is now delivering a backward ignorent fractured society with respect a very low priority. The whole show from audience presenters was cheap & crass. Great Britain my arse it wallows in mediocrity

  • Where is John Wilkes boothe when you need him

  • wow people have absolutely no class or manners no matter where u go I guess...and it's even worse that the show allows that behavior...but then I guess it wouldn't be a show.

  • What ass-holes on that panel!! What ass-holes in the audience.

  • it so sad so yeah maybe they didnt like her but you have to think about her feelings

  • I don't care what any of you try to tell me. That sounded horrible, and hurt my ears a little. If you sing and it sounds horrible, how can you be talented. If I've heard opera that didn't sound horrible, and this did sound horrible, I can only conclude that this was horrible.

  • @KevinLounsberry= It still sounds better than anything J'Lo has ever released.

  • @vigo894 I don't really choose to spend time listening to either of those types of music, but I prefer the way J'lo's voice sound. And I really don't think this is good opera. I don't know what the song is supposed to sound like, maybe it's just a bad song, but I hear a lot of pitch changes where they really don't sound right. Other people here provided more detailed breakdowns. Does the world have such a shortage of actually good opera singers that we need ones with noticeable problems?

  • y i dont watch got talent- the judges have no appreciation for real music i mean come on these people praised cher fucking lloyd

  • I can't believe they booed her like that. She might have missed her high note, but seriously it wasn't THAT bad.

  • i bet she was heart broken afterwards. so why did that sucky little white girl when that one time. she was opera singing!

  • Bad singing, even for BGT....jugdes have no music education whatsoever....

  • Pearls before swine!

  • @JanetteHeffernan I agree. Can you believe that Cowell had the temerity to insult Dvorak's music as well (when he discusses the "awful" solo piano middle section of the piece!) insult the singer if you really must, but Dvorak? Really? This from the man who thinks The Spice Girls were the high point of Western culture?

  • JosephRSchuck <---- look him up he is sooo good at singing!

  • she wasnt bad at all!!!!

  • Seems like the audience didn't like it

  • Ay ay ay!

  • My mother was a professional Opera Singer, and in all honesty, this is not bad. This audience is just silly! She's better than Paul Potts, and her technique isn't that Bad. Hoever, she's porbably a Mezzo, but this is definately a soprano aria- Infact, this was one of mum's signature aria's. That is one shamefull crowd ):

  • i wanna crush that ipod to a billion pieces, and wipe my ass with it -.-

  • i found the funniest opera singer!!! she thinks she is REALLY GOOD! check it OUT!!!!!! i died when i heard this. just search "the best opera singer ever of all time ever" in the search bar. and u won't be dissapointed. hahahaha

  • .-. i must say....that i feel sad for the old man in the piano x.x i don't know why but...hum its make me sad

  • the audience booed because it wasn't yet another pop singer. modern age doesnt listen or understand opera so

  • Fuck Ipod -_-

  • She is a pretty good singer. The pianist, however, just really sucks. BOOO!

  • wow im shocked she was good to

  • It's the audience that's awful, not the singer. She's pretty good. It was probably far beyond the comprehension of the audience and the pandering Simon Cowell, hence the booing. I hope this doesn't discourage her too much.

  • Where is john Wilkes boothe when you need him?

  • I feel bad, she sings better then I do :) keep singin

  • What a bunch of ignorants. She was not the best there is but she most certainly was not "awful". Some so-so popular singers were treated much better than that. I feel bad for the poor lady.

  • she sounds ok..wat was wrong with it????

  • Fuck the crowd are ass holes

  • had she had some training earlier in life she might have had something - but sadly all that is left is a remnant of a voice

  • Comment removed

  • Other opera singers have gotten far better reception on the same show. Don't get me wrong, I agree she was better than given credit for, as someone who enjoys opera - but listen to it imagining you weren't used to opera. If I weren't, I would have found it absolutely painful to listen to - it's something one needs to learn and become attuned to.While it's a pity the judges weren't more knowledgeable about it, I feel overall that it wasn't a good choice to introduce to a public unused to opera.

  • Her notes were strained, her throat was closed, the transition between registers weren't smooth... don't get me wrong she can sing, she is just not very efficient at it.

  • This is Rusalka from Antonin Dvorak the author of New World symphony and she sang it very well but she should count with bunch of uneducated idiots who were siting in audience and this proved me that Simon Cowell has no idea what is good opera singer.........

  • she's terrible, there was a guy from America's got talent who's 20x better than her

  • Simon is an ignorant jackass, so full of Himself I'm surprised His skin can contain Him. And the audience is full of equally obnoxious idiots. I agree that there were some vocal moments that were not what they could/should have been, but compared to the nasal whining, rabid barking, idiotic rambling "rap" and out-and-out screaming that passes for singing these days, I'd say she was doing pretty damned well.

  • That was horrible. She sang that aria beautifully. I swear, this culture is in the shitter...

  • i think she's very good, but then opera is sorta out-dated nowadays, so....yeah

  • This show is for idiots.

  • I'm sorry, I know a bit about opera, and she is really terrible. Her vocal tone and pitches are positively awful. If Placido Domingo, Bryn Terfel, and Cecilia Bartoli had been jusging this, they would have felt the same way Simon did. They probably would have been more polite about it, though.

  • @bassfanne45

what a stuck up remark, this is not some world-class singer, but a decent amateur, why should she be judged on such exacting standards? I think the way the audience and judges reacted was shameful and ignorant. Unfortunately this song was not appealing enough to people with no knowledge of classical music. She should have sung Nessun Dorma, as seems to be the law for anyone singing classical music on these shows , tenors or not (a baritone and a countertenor have done it recently)

  • @bassfanne45

I know a bit about opera too, and sing a reasonable amateur tenor, and I very much doubt Domingo, Terfel or Bartoli would have been so unkind; this woman sang perfectly well and I feel very sorry for her and disgusted with the judge and audience

  • Simon you asshole, you should be ashamed

  • Actually, i am SO FUCKING DISGUSTED, APPAULED AND OUTRAGED at the judges and the audience. How dare they say that this was terrible. It was not at all terrible. What is terrible is that these fucking clowns don't know the difference between what is good and what is not - Obviously they are used to the stupid and horribley horrendous dronings of paul pots and the squeeks and squeels of Katherine Jenkins. Listen to some real opera, and maybe you might develop a sense of what opera is really about!

  • These people are fucked up.....This woman has real chops, she actually very talented. But no, they are to consumed with fucked up wannabe opera singers like Paul Pots and katherine jenkins. She has a nice tone - and actually that piano solo does actually belong in this aria. That really fucks me off!

  • its old fashioned, not relevant for todays entertainment

  • she wasn't that bad. anyone would be tense singing that high note with thousands of people booing her.

    I feel bad for her.

  • Everyone in the crowd were being JERKS!

  • man you could tell her heart was broken..... it was not fine to boo her like that.

  • She would've been a great singer...if she had chosen a different song, something easier. At least she didn't attempt that long queen piece from Mozart's The Magic Flute. It would've killed everyone's ears.

  • simon, and these judges don't know good voices when they hear them. she has great potential, and she seems very natural at singing. perfect for opera. these people are just an example of what the world views opera today. as a joke. and i think its SICK.

  • she actually is a better singer than paul potts

i am actually a professional opera singer and know what i am talking about

  • she truly is. i have heard better singers than paul potts even in my college.

  • damn she sucks!

  • lol i dinit think she was that bad ? lol wasn`t the best but she was ok ..... i felt bad for her :(

  • but she was good, so was the pianist.

  • i don't understand what's so bad about her voice...

  • oh, my stomach

  • she looks so sad i feel so bad....

  • Oh i feel bad for her she looked like she really wanted this, and she wasn't bad she was just a bit out of pitch.

  • She's got the voice, for sure, but I'd like to see how amazing she would perform with a good singing teacher-

  • wtf she's infinitely better than paul potts. just coz she's a women. fucking misogynist chavs.

  • Man that was fucked up, poor old man.

  • hey, that was not bad really

  • I frankly don't see if the clown Potts can get through, why she couldn't.

  • Shut the fuck up.

  • Thanks, I can't expect anything from settle for loving a mediocre karaoke opera singer wannabe lovers. Unfortunately for you, and for the selfloving Simon Cowel, I happen to be an opera singer, and she has got a good and properly trained voice, and the piano solo in the middle that is so horrific, happens to be what it really is in the opera Rusalka by Czech composer Dvorak. So I'm sorry to break it to you, but if you like Potts and not this then you should shut the fuck up!!!!!!

  • I agree with this guy. She obviously is well trained, but her technique is somewhat flawed.

  • She was out of pitch so often it wasn't even funny. Only reason you like her is because you are a worse opera singer than she is. Paul Potts is really good, and had his part down. No doubt she had potential but she definitely needed to spend more time on it than she did.

  • Paul Potts really good? It's that comment that really tells me how much you can tell anyone or about anyone if they are a good singer. Do you know that guys who actually do professional opera with no mics and who can kick Paul Potts' ass don't go anywhere near "Nessun Dorma" or the role Calaf in Turandot that sings it (I bet you didn't know that) because it's far too challenging? The guy's story might be sad, but his singing, and especially the material he is singing is a crime and a joke.

  • POOR her! Do you know how she could to feel? I don´t think she was so MUCH horrible..

  • poor woman, i wish i had her voice and no crap like mine, damn audience...

  • she might have an ok voice, but the stage presence makes the act horrible. Opera is not really a form of entertainment, is more of a ritual for high society people, that's why the performers must not only sing great but also give the audience something to aspire to.

  • u won't believe but some people enjoy such music, so its entertaiment for them lol not a ritual.

  • @Stokkolm I don't really agree with you. You are making opera seem like its for rich spoiled people. Well rich spoiled people listen to opera, but opera was music for the common people, that eventually evolved. Opera comes from Greek and Roman plays.. That they eventually turned into song... Everyone appreciates opera for what it really is. MUSIC.

  • Opera did not come from Greek and Roman plays. It was a Renaissance revival of Greek theater, parts of which are believed to've been sung. But this isn't known for sure.

And yes, for the majority of its history, opera has been for spoiled, rich people. In 1750, 92% of Europe's population lived in poverty. Operas were commissioned by monarchs and royalty and performed for the same.

  • @TehAsploder absolutely wrong.

  • did you think her face?

  • OMFG she was good... what the fuck was the audience and the judges thinking!!!!!

  • i didnt think her performance was bad - they just didnt let her finish because they are such hooligans that they dont even know how to spell opera let alone what it should sound like - and look at simon cowell... what does he actually know about music?

  • @tripledistilledvodka

It's obvious these people don't actually know anything about music, in its different genres; I noticed that when I saw that countertenor who did reasonably well recently, on another YouTube video, and they were acting shocked, like they had never heard a male sing using his falsetto before; complete ignoramuses

  • shes good

  • so mean i hate the audience... they didnt give her a chance... gosh...

  • that was amazing. i am an opera singer too and it took me years to be able to hit notes like that. her vibrato is fantastic, and the piano if full of talent.

  • She was great! You try to sing like that, and tell me how it goes. It's incredibly difficult. The high notes - well, she's not young, and she was probably nervous, not helped by the awful audience. I'm thinking this audience doesn't understand opera... they'd rather listen to crap like Taylor Swift and the Jonas Bros.

  • she was sooooooooo much better than any other singer that sings that stuff on that show.

the only reason she was booed was probably because she didnt sing fucking nessun dorma.

  • The audience is horrible, have they no respect...i think it was the audience's fault, the poor opera singer was holding back and couldent reach the high notes .If she had a positive audience, she would have done better and Simon, i dont really like the guy, he shouldent humiliate people like that. I hate how he embarasses people on TV infront millions, one day it's going to kick him in the ass and he wont show is ugly face on TV again

  • OH MY GOSH!

    The European audience sucks!

  • Dude WTF?? I think the audience booed just because she was singing opera.

And of course no one's going to say "yeah, she was good," if they don't listen to opera really.

I suspect Simon only knows pop music and that's why he said something about a piano solo. Har... bridge?? Chorus?

  • Thank you! My thoughts exactly! I thought she was very good, and this audience just doesn't have the mental capacity to appreciate opera.

  • @Domgenstein i think it was a little bit that she did'nt hit the notes sometimes, and unfortunately that makes it painful to listen to when it's opera

  • @Domgenstein She wasn't good, though...Her throat was tight, her technique was awful, and her tone was far too strident. I'm sorry you take this as some personal attack on opera as a whole, but really she just wasn't that good.

  • Too high shrill for me...especially at 0:39...yikes!!!

  • Come on, she wasn't THAT bad O.O

I mean, come on, just TRY to sing like that...

And bring me some news XD

  • The audience was horrible. Even worse than her singing (which wasn't hopeless).

  • I'm amazed that Paul Potts is considerd any better than this lady....they really don't have any idea do they? "Piano solo"? it's how the music is written, it's part of the aria - It wasn't horrific. Simon Cowell? The man's a musical idiot

  • @sarahhelsbyhughes You've got to be kidding. I agree that Simon Cowell's a musical oaf, but this woman was easily just as awful as Potts.

  • worst singer

  • i feel so bad for her.

  • Some of her notes were off but her sound was beautiful!I feel so bad for her and the piano man was amazing as well! Look at thier sad faces, it put a pit in my stomach! They humiliated them when they deserve to hear atleast some compliments like, "your voice is good but some of your notes were off and amazing piano solo!" cause thats the truth! Jeez..the judges these days are terrible and doesent know what they're doing!
