I liked the song, not a bit hit but would be a great filler song on an album. The judges only talked about the song and not how she sang it or do they only rate songs that have been done to death in past seasons. Many viewers only listen to one genre like country or pop and don't know a lot of the songs in other genres.
They had no right to bash her like that! So what if she sang a song that wasn't too well known? Did she sing it good? YES. She ALWAYS delivers because her voice adapts to ANYthing. That's what matters. I love her, she has my FULL support and votes. And i hope that she'll get billions of votes TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Am I the only person who thinks she is forcing her voice too much. I like her voice, but when she gets the gruff sound I think its really forced. It sounds like it hurts instead of sounding natural. I hope she isn't wrecking her vocal chords.

The judges should have called James out on his pitchy vocals. I can't believe James gets away with this, while Haley gets beaten over the head for singing an "unreleased" song. Haley rocked it, and the song suited her voice perfectly. The song isn't even unreleased. Gaga debuted it on the Today show a year ago, and still performs it in concert. And what does it matter anyway? Aren't they going to have to make hits out of unreleased songs when they release their own music?

The vote shows how much they like a contestant in terms of looks, performance, sympathy and a little bit in terms of music. Well, she must have done something convincing the states - that's nothing bad. In my opinion she's not good. But that's me. (The judges seem to see her as the weakest contestant, too...)

Haley is amazing, I can imagine how good her first album gonna be. It's a pity the producers are sooo against her to win. I know it's very risky to sing an unknown song on Idol, specially when you have tonsss of young brainless kids voting for Scott and James, but I really love Haley, this peformance was amazing, she is amazing and I'm soo glad to see how further she has gone as an artist. Sometimes I like that contestants sing an unfamiliar song - you judge her singing based solely on the voice and the interpretation. I liked this performance. She sang well and she seemed like she was having a good time. That's important as a performer.

@financehawk Lots of graphs and analysis of songs sung on American Idol can be found at the "what not to sing" website. Look in the "Editorials and Articles Archive" for an article titled "Scattergories" I've read other sources as well, just can't remember exactly where they were.
I do hope Haley survives. She's a very good singer and performer and deserves top 4 at least.

The idea that only familiar songs should be done on Idol is ridiculous. Lesser known songs have made for some pretty great moments on Idol - "Falling Slowly", "Mad World" (was completely unknown to me), "Up to the Mountain". While it's great to hear something familiar done in a new way, I like it more when I get to hear something new.
Haley got bad advice from Jimmy Iovine, little known (or in this case unknown) songs don't tend to generate many votes on Idol. Haley's voice sounded great tho.
