in any place I use 17-50 lens, it doesn't matter if lens is quite or not. People go on and on about this Tamron sound for what. Sorry guys, if you are against Tamron. I use Tamron (as well as many Canon Lenses) and I am very happy with 17-50 Tamron. It is a gem for the price, good optics, sharp images, very good lens. I can not say same for every Tamron, but 17-50 is good one.
Does the part where filters are screwed on rotate when focusing? I wanted to get a screw mount lens hood, but I didn't want a pretty petal-style lens hood rotating and looking ugly.
useful comparison. the tamron is so loud for some situations (much more than the kit lens)!! would be the perfect lens for low light (2.8 and price)...too bad...
wow those are some loud lenses.
It's shame that Tamron is using a loud and slow micro motor instead of ring USM

gotta say, the spinning focus ring on the tamron makes it look kind of like a bomb disposal bot, or early terminator proto. Love it.

the focusing sound on Tamron 17-50 makes me feel like I'm pro-er :D I love it !

Because its all really about sounding cool when you take photos?
ForstaSvenskenIRymdn 2 years ago
if it's too loud it can disrupt the mood of the events you are photographing. especially weddings, children's birthday's, and stuff
syaoranpies 2 years ago
Comon, do you really believe that yourself?
ForstaSvenskenIRymdn 2 years ago
too bad if you're shooting weddings you'd be using more expensive glass :P

Exactly right. I get the same heat for using the sigma 18-50 2.8. That lens is also and awesome deal for it's sharpness and large aperture!

On the Canon EF50 f1.8 II and Tamron 17-50, the filter mount dos'nt rotate. On the Canon EFS 18-55 (the kit lens) it does ;)

Tamron lenses are loud.
But the IQ of the 17-50 worth it.
I own a Tamron, too. Compared to Canon USM lenses, it's so loud, but I don't care about it. :D

These lenses arnt as loud as this in real life... this video overdoes it a bit on the sound factor
bigdaddy234567 3 years ago 8
I think I should stop looking at tamron since I watch this :(
papacon 3 years ago
curious question, doesn't the EF-S 18-55 have USM? why's it so loud?
gr2k 3 years ago
Nope, it does not have usm
JcWhatCounts20 3 years ago
the 17-55 2.8 does not this one

how much did you pay for the sigma lens
atvpolice 3 years ago
Sigma lens ?
If you're talking about the Tamron, I paid 520$ for it, aboot a year ago :)
brEanDK 3 years ago
wow those are some noisy things... thanks for the video.
J4R3D28 3 years ago
Do you do that with a romote or a computer??
atvpolice 3 years ago
With a remote, half-pressing the shutter release. The camera AF is set to "AI Servo". And then moving my hand back and forth in front of the lens ;)
brEanDK 3 years ago
LOL :D Tamron sounds like it's laughing at canon ^^
Angerrr666 3 years ago 27
I have all those lenses and the same camera with bg-e3 grip, lol. Tamron is a great lens btw

Got to love the 18-55mm noise, I'd call it cute. Anyway, while the 17-50mm is loud, it's still very fast, so the noise don't last long.
ChillpointNews 3 years ago
The nikkor 18-55 sound is much more cure then this. lol :)
The Tamron for Nikon version with build in AF motor is slow.

geez... but it is cheap, so you get quite a lot of bang for the bucks :-) The real problem is it wobbly front lens. Happens quite rarely though.

Thanks :)

This is a good comparison. That is pretty darn loud!
