  • old rap is so freaking more awesome than the crap they call rap today. and how can you hate the Africa medallions?

  • This is when Hip Hop was fun, whether you liked the song or not, the song was always different than the last one you heard before it unlike these glorified copy cats nowadays... Salute!

  • You know...this should be the theme song for every reality show hook up and/or Facebook reunion hook up. Come on...we all know the deal...and in the end..."hold on...what was your name again?"

If they can use Samuelle's "So You Like What You See" as the theme to Grand Theft Auto with Tyra Banks as a video vixen; watch the video...then they can use a riff from this song everytime some hooks up on a reality show.

Can you see it? A couple makes out. The riff...then "what was your name again?"

  • def Jef>>>>Cali FAG district

  • I saw the igrl hes rappin too on another video , I had a crush on her . i think it was self destruction or ladies first lol

  • Nice seat covers, Jef.

  • Sister Dee was kinda hot in this video.

  • Thats the dance. I can't to yell give it her forget the JIg

  • story type luv songs dont frunt

  • I love that clip of Richard Pryor begging for sex in this song. LOL!

  • I didn't relize Dee Barnes aka "Dr.Dre slapped me" was in this video.

  • Perfect example of how just about anything from this tme period is better than just about anything today. Damn I miss the music of those days!!

  • you know this is old old skool. He is on a pay phone. But I'm lovin this video all over again.

  • DeliciousVinyl is a very well run record company - excellent taste in artists! :). I bought one of their old school t-shirts that make an appearance in this video and will be wearing it around Las Vegas tomorrow when I am out there blowing off steam.

  • the girl in the video is dee barnes from pump it up video show in late 80's early 90's, the one dr.dre from nwa assaulted

  • Watched this video back in the day to learn how to dance!! haha

  • i have this on VHS also.

  • I taped this onto VHS from Yo MTv Raps, too!

  • Droppin rhymes on drums by jef 20 years ago is still better than 99% of the stuff these days.

  • Ok wow what was this...'89 or '90??

I was a senior in high school at the time. Still much better than the crap you hear now...

  • I was 8yrs old when dis video came out. I remember recording it on VHS. Wow, it definitely takes me back.

  • Keep your mouth shut and do the butt strut!!

  • OH SHIT I AM OLD!

  • @Cyrious NO Way!! This cut makes it clear. You're only as old as you think you are. Don't hold back!!

  • yes, that's Dee Barnes.

  • WOW when did I get old, I remember watchin this on YO MTV. hoping 2 see this vid. And was dat nigga doin the CABBAGE PATCH at 2:28....luv it, dat brings me back. • Give here don't say nothing? Sounds like rape!!! LMAO

  • damnit...those plaid pants were NEVER!! in style LOL.

i used to like this vid though, i always wished i could dance like that :-)

  • Would make joe tex proud.

  • Btw, what L.A. spot is that at 2:04 - 2:21 - it looks rather interesting with the inclined exterior wall.

And I remember well when Dee Barnes hosted "Pump It Up" - I loved that show. This was around the time when Dr. Dre infamously beat her up at some nightclub. Despite NWA being out for a few years by that time - that was basically my "introduction" to Dr. Dre as an individual. Terrible first impression, needless to say. My opinion of the guy has come a long ways since then.

  • Nice jam from back in the day! What I like about this video is that the man didn't go for the half-naked girl w/ hair down to her waist - but for the cute, brown-skinned sista w/ the bomb-ass haircut. And you don't see Dee Barnes gyrating all over the place & "making her butt clap" & all the stripper-nastiness that counts as "dance" these days - she and Def Jef are just having nice, "clean" fun dancing at various L.A. spots. Fun video!

  • Ahh shit! Troop it out Jeff! This was the joint on Yo! MTV Raps

  • back then 5 percent of rappers was wack, now 5 percent of rappers are decent and 95 percent wck

  • WORD!!

  • This song is nearly twenty years old(it was released in 1989) and yet it still sounds better then the crap of today.

  • Word to that!

  • EXTREMELY DOPE SONG!

  • Oh SHIT HE GOT SKIDZ ON! I cant front I had the red and black joints they was real loose to do your runnin man and half step in!

  • 80s hip-hop at its best

  • Def Jef had some skills...no doubt...This is classic material.

  • he has some nice wordplay

  • oh man this was my jam.. nothing like singing give it here , dont start fronting just give it here to a chic..

  • Ha ha ha !!! is that my peaches @ 0:32. wow those was the days... this is better then 75% of the bs on the radio today in 2008 sooo sad

  • HA HA HA!! is that my peaches at 0:32 wow those was the days

  • anyone know where in los angeles htat burger place is in the video? - i htink its the same one from menace || society

  • lol im doing this dance this weekend at the club

  • I wasn't feelin this song back then but Def Jef was still official. This shit is still better than most of the bullshit droppin these days....

    Take notes youngstas...lol

  • i fucking love the second verse. def jef's lyrics crack me up. he can tell a woman "buy you what? you better keep your mouth shut" that shit is genious and he says it in a way that is somehow reasonable. he's basicly talking about prostitution, you give me sex and i'll give you cash or buy you shit. but it some how dosen't sound bad to me. it sounds realy right. god bless def jef.

  • for realz, im feeling old right now.

  • im glad dr. dre beat her ass...lol

  • Yeah I seen Def Jeff name pop up on the credits to tv show The Game on the CW. He's still working. Shout out to Dee Barnes. I want to get my hands on all those old Pump It Up shows. Drop it on dvd asap.

  • Oh Snap! I totally forgot about Def Jef. This was the jam right here!

  • Def Jef, another classic hip hop from LA underground...

  • I've been looking for this video. This was the jam. Thanks for the upload.

  • Man, this has the most slamming beat ever. Think I saw this on NSign Radio (UK TV, night show) forever ago.

  • WOW!! Def Jef! I was prompted to search YouTube for Def Jef while watching Hip Hop Harry with my kids. I saw his name pop up in the credits; I've also seen his name appear in the credits to That's So Raven (I think he did the theme song). Loved this video back in the day. Jef had lyrically the best verse on 'We're All In The Same Gang'. "One and the same/everyone came in the same chains/caught with the same aim, brain games, and names changed". Glad to see Delicious representing.

  • well, thanks to you and hip hop harry for kind of sending you our way :) we have some dope new stuff coming generally... subscribe to our vids and you'll see 'em pop up easier. thanks for checkin' Jef again.

  • Man this guy was nasty LOL. Funny how a Ford mustang was considered worthy of a "fat bank account" bac then :) I have quoted this video a lot in life, expecially "You better keep your mouth shut and do the butt strut" LOL Great video, hope it stays up :)

  • Jef could probably say more but I think he 'out grew' this song pretty fast. I recall him not really wanting to do it live by the time his first album came out, which it was on. I can not speak for our artists but that is my impression.

  • @chinatowndude lls any car was considered phat back then. long live 80s and 90s

  • @chinatowndude Notice how they show the stock rims with the FORD logo like they were some 22in chrome wheels!LOL

  • Word!

     Underground fooo

  • The tall dancer in the background was Divine Styler

  • Man, this makes you wish you were a kid again. Everybody used to dance back then or at least they wished they could dance. And if you could get down, the honies would give you play. Now, I wish you would hop your grown ass around talkin 'bout "give it here!" you wouldn't get no trim for 2 years, and....you might get your happy ass robbed.....Damn!

  • Haaaaaah rotflmao!! Def Jef and Sister Dee! Wow this is taking me back; I had a staircase hi-top fade and tapered hammer pants...and a leather africa medallion! Those were the days! Thanks for sharing this friend! Please keep it coming!

  • Holy WTF...

I never ever ever ever thought I'd see the video to this.

    Thanks Brother!

  • Cool. Thanks for lookin' up Def Jef here. We're trying to post everything in the vaults and then upgrade the quality of some of them here.
