Man, I'm about finished playing through this game right now. I gotta say this game suffers from some pacing issues and is dragged out a bit by a little too much back and forth. The world itself is actually not that big. Certainly not the scope that the 20 hours it takes to finish would have you believe. From what I understand, this game was rushed. It was about 30% complete only like 3 months til launch. The boss fights are great but those experiences are few and far between.
it's pretty ignorant to say that MP3 wasn't really a Metroid game. The only thing about it that is even any different from the style, is the amount of character interaction, which still wasn't all that much. Yes, there was more, and it felt a little less isolated, but only a little. When you left those areas, you were alone again. My only other complaint about it is kind of a silly one. I liked having to switch out your different beam weapons in 1 nd 2, but I know the old games stacked the beams
man I only owned this game on Gamecube for a short time and beat it only once before trading it in, and I've come to regret that a little, but thankfully I have Prime Trilogy. Will definitely be playing it again as soon as I finish Prime 1 which I started today

I like how he complains about how that you get the screw attack upgrade way to late in the game. It is possible to collect the screw attack extremely early. As soon as you pick up the early power bomb via secret worlds you can travel to Sanctuary Fortress and pick up the screw attack. This game has tons of bugs in it and it is possible to beat the game with only seven percent of all the items collected.

@Timic83tgwtg You are quite possibly the most remedial person I know. The Metroid franchise has been around way before the idea of Halo even existed. If anything Gaylo is a ripoff of Metriod Prime. haha

what this guy says is true.. you really have to get to the sanctuary fortress to really appreciate the game. I first beat prime, then started prime 2, but was a little dissapointed. still kept playing and now I think prime 2 is better than prime 1. it's f*ckin awsome!
its hilarious that people say the gamecube sucked because it couldnt support ps2 graphics, but look at these games, their almost 360 graphics, people are so annoying sometimes
@Blackout987 Metroid Other M is not shit not at all, I played it myself and found it to be a very fun and enjoyable game. Metroid Other M is a decent Metroid game that could have used quite a bit more work then it got.
I think they did a great job in recreating the Metroid sidescrollers in 3D in the prime series, I haven't tried Other M though, I hope its a Metroid game and not a futuristic ninja gaiden game D:

@SuperNintendoCrew21 I particularly didn't like the Light/Dark World mechanic since the loading times detracted from the pacing of the game, however after I re started replaying Prime 3 I realized Echoes wasn't THAT bad ! Lmao. Moving from A to B in Corruption takes almost half a minute ! Talk about slowing down gameplay :/ .

The vast majority of games are linear, really.

I have no problem with linear gameplay when it comes to other genres, I just prefer not being forced in a single direction with little exploration possible In FPS's. Exceptions would be Half-life 2, Portal and such. But Theres plenty of successful FPS games in the past that have done done nonlinear gameplay, such as Wolfenstein, Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, Quake, Fallout 3, Borderlands, Metroid Prime, Far Cry 2, etc.

Me? Well, I'm a Wii60er. I love Halo, I like Call of Duty, I love Zelda, and I love Metroid. I play games from the original Xbox on my 360, I play Gamecube games on my Wii, and I play N64, SNES, and NES games on my Wii as well. It's all great. Limiting yourself to one gaming company or console or series is only limiting your own entertainment.

@YWOOOX yeah, it definitely depends on what someones used to. With keyboard+mouse controls, the mouse is used to aim (crosshair always in the middle), WASD keys on keyboard for moving.

@rual40 i know the plots of the games man. There all different but that doesn't make them non metroid. That's what you were implying. Metroid prime 2 is about the split between ather ( dark and light) and saving the planet from it's growing darkside while fighting your dark side as well. Metroid prime is just about finding the artifacts and finding the main metroid and annihilating it. Most of the metroid games have the same plot but echoes is different. They are still of metroid standard.

@dragondude912 yes, i totally agree, the other games were a cakewalk compared to this. i found this game to be way more confusing than the other 2, and the boss fights are way more challenging.
@Agumon5 some reviewers don't like it as much because of the dark world, but it adds complexity to the game, which is what the series has always been about. at first, it feels extremely tedious and claustrophobic, but as you progress, it's implemented into the game design much better, and the dark and light suits make you rely on the light domes much less. although i prefer prime 3, i think that it is a more intuitive, cinematic, and intense experience, but a much weaker metroid game.
phazonruler3000, you have to back track to the beginning of the game and fight if you want a missile expansion. Its not part of the story, its just optional incase you want missile expansions
Echoes does in some ways serve a similar function to Prime as Majora's Mask did to Ocarina... although Echoes didn't advance on gameplay mechanics as much as ocarina, it generally made a fuller world, and more complicated and difficult enemies. I.e. it served as a more difficult game with more hardcore bosses etc in a similar way as majora's mask did.

@YWOOOX I'd rather the Wii+nunchuck controls over a controller when it comes to FPS. but even then, I'd rather keyboard+mouse over anything when it comes to FPS, lol.

@Mason1729 it depends on what ur used to the wii and nuncuck is different where u point with the gun but the X360/PS3 is that the crossfire's always in the middle, and the keyboard? =D

@YWOOOX yeah, it definitely depends on what someones used to. With keyboard+mouse controls, the mouse is used to aim (crosshair always in the middle), WASD keys on keyboard for moving.

@vesko96 ... not even close, MP3 isn't a metroid game. The metroid database is not a attiquite source of information. MP3 is not a metroid game because it is layed out in a diferent way. +, M-FUSION is not a metroid game either.... but MP3 Is overall not as good as MP1 or MP2.

@rual40 They have Metroid in the title. They center on the adventures of Samus Aran, fighting aliens and exploring weird places. They are Metroid games. Just because they are more linear doesn't mean they aren't Metroid games.
You people really need to stop thinking linearity = bad. If that was the case, the vast majority of video games are bad.

@rual40 wth are u talking about. There both metroid games because they both settle around the story of the metroids and samus. They may be a bit different in plot but they still match what the series is about.

@SlamTheLabel the plot my good man is different. metroid games have a feel of being lost without directions. it encourages you to be adventurous and search the world. MP3 has a lot of directions to ware to go.

@rual40 i know the plots of the games man. There all different but that doesn't make them non metroid. That's what you were implying. Metroid prime 2 is about the split between ather ( dark and light) and saving the planet from it's growing darkside while fighting your dark side as well. Metroid prime is just about finding the artifacts and finding the main metroid and annihilating it. Most of the metroid games have the same plot but echoes is different. They are still of metroid standard.

The final boss in MP1 was a joke i thought, it was a great game still. but it was ridiculous. this game was alot harder i thought and i preferred it.

@dragondude912 yes, i totally agree, the other games were a cakewalk compared to this. i found this game to be way more confusing than the other 2, and the boss fights are way more challenging.

@Agumon5 some reviewers don't like it as much because of the dark world, but it adds complexity to the game, which is what the series has always been about. at first, it feels extremely tedious and claustrophobic, but as you progress, it's implemented into the game design much better, and the dark and light suits make you rely on the light domes much less. although i prefer prime 3, i think that it is a more intuitive, cinematic, and intense experience, but a much weaker metroid game.

It is pretty challenging, it takes a while to beat the game but its a great experience, one of my favorite by far.

phazonruler3000, you have to back track to the beginning of the game and fight if you want a missile expansion. Its not part of the story, its just optional incase you want missile expansions

He didn't say anything bad about Majora. Just that Echoes is a lot like Prime and Majora was different from Ocarina.

Echoes does in some ways serve a similar function to Prime as Majora's Mask did to Ocarina... although Echoes didn't advance on gameplay mechanics as much as ocarina, it generally made a fuller world, and more complicated and difficult enemies. I.e. it served as a more difficult game with more hardcore bosses etc in a similar way as majora's mask did.
