  • I make sure the cage has long ears with small pieces already attached so the connection is only in a few places. The glass fills three quarters of the cage leaving the ears sticking out the top. That's where I begin the body build. A few inches away from the glass. Where I'm close, I slip leather between where I'm welding and the glass. Yes, everything is in fact welded. Risky but cool.

  • too cool ...how do you attach the cage to the sculpture after that...it looks welded...and the smooth design really makes the metal and glass look organic...great job!!..:)

  • ok sooo how in the heck did you get the glass blown in to the cage I work for a glass blower ..and I am not sure how you did it..?

  • First I build a cage. Mount it onto a stand and give it to the glass shop. The trick is to get the cage built in a way that supports the liquid glass and also has an opening large enough to drop in. The issue is that you don't get a second chance because you cant stick the entire cage into a glory hole if it cools off. You need to get it right the first time. It's way cool!
