Is this a good begginers truck? I saw it's a 2 skill level. I wanted a Stampede, but the guys at my hobby store told me the Slash is better. I saw Jang's (UltimateRCNetwork) review for the 4x4 Slash and he made it sound like it wasn't that great. I like the E-Maxx, 1st off because there is a full size monster truck replicating this truck. 2nd off DUAL motors & 8 FREAKIN' shocks! But I have little experiance with these trucks! =) I've looked at trucks since 07 but never bought one. =)
I deleted the commentary at the beginning of the video due to all the youtubers comments and being dumb on youtube.
I know you can't do that to a normal rc car, the whole point of the video is Traxxas shouldn't put waterproof on the box if it isn't waterproof. Some 10 year old rich kid will get the car, think its waterproof and drive it into his pool. Then he'll have the same results as me. Don't advertise it, unless it is.
iv got an e maxx 3905 green all rpm every thing did the hard ware rus on yours and did the batteris last a week latter and do you hav any hints how to run it the best way in watter thanks cool vid
the manual for my rustler says that not to drive your car full speed underwater that could have been why you broke your motors, I have seen other people drive their e-maxx in water (completely submerged) and I think those were brushed motors
On a typical brushed motor this isn't needed to be done. The reason these quit is because they are motors used in power drills. These motors have fans inside the motor, the drag these fans create underwater stop it from working.
I have one and Love it!..my buddie the revo and they are good competition...I have now put Castle Creations Mamba Monster 2200 and ...I am running it on 4 cells of 4000mah 25C ....whoa...Hold onto your hats!!! Highly recommend doing this you end up with a one thousand dollar truck, but if you can get over that hump it is an absolute ball!
Great video, I don't know how many times I've watch it... Never gets old. When I do get back in to the rc hobbie,,, the E-Maxx is what Im getting,,, electric. No more mess with gas or tunning up because of weather. Just charge batts and beat the hell out of the truck... LOL
E Maxx is best at bashing and E Revo is best at racing... sow if you just want to play in the park or bashing with some friends... E Maxx is for you.
If you plan on racing, then the E Revo low center of gravity is in your advantage.
Hope it help you making a choice... Me personally i have the new E-Maxx and just "Love it" you can adjust the suspension and get better cornering with the E-Maxx to!
I have a pair of 7cells NIMH 8.4V 3000MAH Traxxas that is and i am not impress by them at all. I have more power and running time with the Venom 6cells 7.2V 4200MAH . I don't know if they gave me bad 8.4v traxxas battery's? maybe old stock? But sow far the venom are my favorites.
Ok. How do you get a stock E-maxx out of the box to 35mph?? Mine only does 25mph or 40km/h (stock). Do you have 2 speed setup or what? pinion? spur? it's not stock if it does 35mph
The stock ESC only take 2x7 cell Ni-Mh batteries. max 16,8volt. thats what i got and it does only 25mph stock out of the box with stock pinion and spur.. bah.. Im just talking about STOCK.. im tuning mine for 45mph now and its not stock at all=) Bottom of line is that the STOCK e-maxx out of the box does 25mph.
I used 2x 8,4volts 4500mAh batteries and a GPS to get the speed.. It was 25mph(40km/h) stock out of the box with stock spur and pinion. lulz I said the same thing in the comment below^^. I Just don't agree that the speedgun clips showing 35mph is of a Stock e-maxx with 19 pinion and 68 spur.
what is the difference between the erevo and the e-maxx. the only thing i can tell that is different is the suspension and the body. otherwise, the e revo should not be almost $150 dollars more than the e-maxx
is the traxxas tq transmitter waterproof also because what if i am driving it while its raining. my transmitter will break and that defeats the purpose of being able to drive in the rain
Awesome vid!! I'm converting my T-maxx 2.5 into a new e-maxx. I already have the tranny, chassis, and a waterproof receiver box.. Now all I need is an esc, RX, and motors to be ready to go!
it looks like you blew the motors at the end ....... That is the same thing what happen to my e maxx smoke came out of it and it stop going but i had turning still........the video is probly the best one out i seen on youtube yet!!!!
The motors did die, however after I let them sit for a week they worked again. The stock motors have fans in them which makes the load underwater to much and they fry. If you can upgrade to a motor that does not have this fan (typically fans are in drill motors) then you can run it in water as I did with no fears.
i have a slash and when the motor stops when i'm running in water i just take it out flush it with clean water and bang it lightly on somthing to dislodge anything that might be in it hope this helps
rcbros your review was great, you got me sold. i have 1 question, what batteries would u reccomend? (i am looking for something which will work best in snow) thanks!
HEY RcBros your emaxx rocks!!! Im looking into buying one of these and i want to know from maxamps, whats a good, battery? I mean like good run time and fun all round. i know it takes 2 batteries but do you need to upgrade to brushless motor to run a lipo? THANKS!
I had talked to a guy that worked at a hobby shop and he said you are not supposed to go submarine with it, its just water sealed.. like just running through the water not swimming in it, so be careful with that
Well the pros are; you dont have to worry about fuel, burning up glow plugs, burning yourself on a super hot engine, runs same speed in cold or hot weather, dont have to carry around a starter and you dont have to worry about the neighbors because the E-Maxx doesnt make any noise, all you hear is the motors slight whisling when you hit the throttle. The cons are speed speed speed. The T-maxx is twice as fast as the E-Maxx and thats the only con. (see next post)!
I own the T-maxx and will get the E-maxx. You can upgrade it to run faster than the T-Maxx but it will cost you. If you upgrade to a brushless motor the speed will be just about the same as the T-maxx, and if you ungrade to the 2-speed transmission you should be just a bit faster. You can get a gear-set to be faster on the top-end but I suggest the gear-set that gives you the low-end torque, after all its a monster truck not a race car. Total upgrades $200-$250 depending on where you shop.
dude the manual said that u shouldnt completly submerge them..... also dont get them wet when they r hot.... i skrews them up....... dont go full throttle in the water...... tight vid though
I think 7.2 volts is fine for water bashing. Not enough volts to do any damage. But with 14.4 the current was probably passing though the water and causing the motors to arc
see xxStratxx69s comment is worth reading, it is definitlet worth the money, fast, reliable, tough, durable, and not to mention 4wd! a very fun truck to bash with.
