i think the real reason is to eraddicate the taliban from afghanistan so the afghani people can live sumwhat normally instead of ruled by fear..but it doesnt matter why we r there, these men and others like them have gone bcoz their country asked them to and in the end all that matters is everyone should respect and thank these soldiers and others like them for doing a job that most people would back away from.
The purpose is to try and change the lives of the Afghan people. Let them who choose to help out, let those who don't suffer. Help them rebuild their communities, teach them to run them so they are socially, politically and economically viable.
That'll mean getting the farmers to swap from Poppies to wheat, they can't grow both (we send them wheat as aid). Get rid of the Warlords & the Taliban and let them move forward.
