There is no way they went to the moon, the shuttle which goes to 100 miles above the earth in orbit empties its fuel tank to do so, yet we are to believe that with Apollo nasa went 240 000 miles slowed down, landed on the moon, ascended from the surface and then returned back to the earth? There must be an arco fuel station or two out there that NASA isn't telling us about. Nevermind the van allen radiation and the 240 degree lunar temperatures.
If you watch the launch the first separation was at 32 miles. Consider that the space vehicle would have to slow down to orbit the moon, and if im not mistaken enter into a static orbit which would essentially mean stop. That means considerable energy would be expended to stop and then of course there is the landing and takeoff aspect, let alone entering into a earth bound trajectory and escaping lunar gravity.

There are no telescopes with sufficient resolving power to see objects that small from that distance. NASA is sending up a probe next year (I think), which will orbit the moon and be able to resolve objects as small as 2' across. This will finally put an end to the argument. (or will it?) :-)

NASA only sends up as much fuel as it needs to send.
1. Leaving earth required the Saturn V to get everything going.
2. Inertia carried the craft until the moon's gravity caught it.
3. It took much less fuel to get the tiny crew compartment back off the tiny moon,
4. and the with the remaining fuel they got back to where Earth's gravity took over.
The vehicle got smaller with every step, and less fuel was needed as thry went along.

Reduced gravity does not mean loss of inertia. Mass is still hard to shift, it just has less of a preference for down.
It also doesn't reduce awkwardness.
