@awesomedls09 I'm sure they feel stupid for firing Glen Mason for the Gophers choking in the Insight Bowl when they were huge underdogs anyway. I think that NDSU has a good chance of upsetting Minnesota, after all, they did it in 2007, so why not in 2010?
@awesomedls09 I think people already know how awful Brewster is. NDSU beat Minnesota in 2007 and SDSU almost beat Minneosta in 2009. Brewster's Gophers only ever beat bad teams anyway, with one exception, their best win was in 2009 over a decent 6-6 Michigan State team, other than that, teams like Penn State (won 20-0), Iowa (won 55-0 and 12-0), and Ohio State (won 38-7) blow them out. I remember Brewster insulting NDSU and dismissing them, so I say this is Brewster getting his just deserts.
@awesomedls09 Very true, the criticisms about the Big Ten that it's just the Big Two (Ohio State and Penn State, sometimes the Big Three with Michigan or Iowa) is just as true with the SEC where it was just Florida and LSU until recently, now it's Florida, Alabama, and sometimes LSU. Most conferences have the top teams, the middle of the road teams, and the bottom dwellers.
@awesomedls09 Well, to be fair, their win over Iowa State was pretty good, since the Cyclones did finish 7-6 and even upset Nebraska. But other than that, they couldn't beat any real teams. But I'll be cheering for the Bison to pull it off, and also any games against SEC teams that any FCS teams play, since the SEC and their fanbase just annoy me to no end (I'm talking the fans that think their conference is the third division of the NFL and their tailbacks and WR can run a 2.4 forty).
@awesomedls09 Kansas was pretty good in the first half of 2009, then suddenly collapsed into nothingness. We'll have to see what happens this year. But then again, their first win was over a ski resort and they were outscored in the third quarter 3-0, so we'll have to see. If NDSU upsets Kansas or even takes them to the wire, it'll be a big deal IMO.
@awesomedls09 Well, they did beat Oklahoma a couple years ago, beat Oregon last year, won some other marquee matchups, and recently moved to the MWC because they want some competition, something hard to find in a conference where the next best teams are Fresno State, Hawaii, and Idaho. However, I think it's worth mentioning that Iowa State also scheduled NDSU recently. But don't give up, every program hits rough patches. Remember Penn State from late 1999 through 2004? Look at 'em now!
@awesomedls09 They were a decent FCS team when they first joined, so there's no reason why the can't be again. Using a similar comparision, UConn in football used to be an FCS team and when first joining FBS, was a punching bag for the big teams. UConn traditionally was a basketball school, so football was an afterthought, that is until the past few years when they joined the Big East and became good. Also look at Boise State, once an FCS team, now one of the top FBS teams. So it can happen!
@awesomedls09 That could change someday, you never know. Afterall, before Penn State played Coastal Carolina in 2008, very few FCS teams were scheduled outside of the area of the FBS school, now you see it all the time.
Actually, yes they do gain something. They get to beat an FCS team 84-0 (okay, not nearly that bad usually, but you get the point) and impress the pollsters who are wowed by big points. You'd be shocked at how many big schools schedule FCS schools. Here's a list of some of them: Florida, Texas, Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, West Virginia, Cincinatti, Penn State, Oregon, Oklahoma, Iowa, Michigan, and many others. Also, there are some exceptions to regionalism, like Penn State-Coastal Carolina.
It might not look all that good now, but every team that moves up has growing pains. Amazingly, what would help NDSU out the most is a payday game. If some elite FBS teams like Penn State, USC, and Florida schedule NDSU and give them a huge paycheck, which can boost recruiting, they may have the funds to compete with the big boys, and who knows, maybe someday even move up to FBS (hopefully by then FBS gets a 16 or 24 team playoff system, I'm sick of all the bowl controversy).
Well, it takes time to become an elite team in Division I, even FCS. The jump from D-II to FCS is bigger than the jump from FCS to FBS. Look at Buffalo. After moving from I-AA to I-A, they were long regarded as the ultimate cupcake team. Then Turner Gill turns them into a decent team. 2007 was their change, after being blown out by Penn State (ignore the 45-24 score, it was 31-3 after three), they started improving. UConn also not long ago was an FCS team, now a middle of the pack Big East team.
North Dakota State is a great football school with a pretty nice men's basketball team. I still remember when they upset Wisconsin in a regular season game a few years ago.

Never said that NDSU are world-beaters, but it's cool that they upset Minnesota.

This is not NDSU's main fight song. That's called "On Bison." But this is very good.
