  • Just saw this movie couple days ago and I'm with Kristian on it. I thought it had a great premise but it was executed poorly. The acting I guess is half and half. Sometimes it would be decent then just go bad. But I think the script is what got me to hate. Some things I was like "That would never happen in real life!" its an ok movie but I'm glad i didn't see it in the theater.

  • I watched this movie with a friend who takes movies seriously, and I am a sarcastic movie viewer. He usually tells me to shut up, but he didn't even mind me talking through the entire movie, and neither did the guy sitting next to me (who joined in on the trashing. I'll give this a 1 schmo, just because I didn't pay.

  • Great review.

I just watched this last night via vudu.com, and it was pretty sucky.

    2.0 out of 5 Schmoes.

  • I totally agree. Great concept. Didn't do the best with it. Terrible script. Terrible acting. And may I point out the running in 6 inch high heels and how they survived a roll-over in a convertible.

  • its just a shitty remake of Logan's Run ....

  • Biggest problem with it was the acting and the dialogue in my opinion. Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried were really a pretty uninspiring pair and didn't come close to pulling off the whole "Bonnie and Clyde" thing that was being attempted. Half of that wasn't their fault as they were given some really awful lines, but still.

  • you were waay too hard on this one, a 3 was the right rating

  • Like you guys but you're pretty harsh with all of your reviews :P

  • @TheMontageMasters Even with The Descendants? Hugo? Planet of The Apes? Arthur Christmas? The Muppets?

  • @schmoesknow Well a lot of them haha. I tend to agree with you guys but just some movies I'll be like "wow that was low". I love your videos though so keep up the good work :]

  • a lot of the stuff u don't like about it, is their reality in the movie so no durrr theres gonna be a lot of running and all that stuff. and we're gonna be having normal cars for a long time. our houses will not be floating or some stupid thing like that. i'm so surprised jeremy gave a nicer review

  • This movie just dragged on and on. It was good for the first half, but it eventually just got worse and worse.

  • Maybe they will actually remake this movie someday. i wish they would remake movies that have potential, but did not come out great rather than movies that are considered classics.

  • I actually enjoyed this movie. It definitely could have been a LOT better for sure, but I still enjoyed it. Nothing special, but not terrible.

  • What did u guys think of the car crash ( coming of the embankment) scene, looked like it was filmed on the set of Thunderbirds!

  • I actually enjoyed the movie! The whole concept really captivated me!

  • please please please please please, STOP calling him "see-llian" i dont think he himself gets annoyed as much as i do, it just sounds very silly, it's "killian".

  • Seen it, violently threw up #truestory

  • Wow, you guys really hated this movie O_O ...I actually liked it. I had a good time with it. It wasnt teh best execution but it had a cool premise.

  • @Zahinn Oh contraire, Ellis HATED it, I thought it was just ok

  • @schmoesknow Point taken...but some critics are REALLY shitting on it. It has 36% on RT D:

  • @renny2980 Thanks for the thought out argument on why you liked the film, it explained a lot. Thanks!!!

  • I liked the movie, thought it could be wayyy better. I ended up dreaming about it the night after I watched it, and my dream was exponentially better than the movie.

  • you guys are dean on- great concept - terrible acting and story is pretty much stolen scenes from "the chase" and "robin hood" - great trailer though - definitely fell for it!

  • I feel that Alex Pettyfer did a pretty good job. I used to hate him cause I hated his previous movies but he's good as a villain in this one.

  • @schmoesknow I'm saying the guy on the right is a dweeb and you may think other that's the beauty of this country

  • A surprisingly a very good movie. Justin and AManda do a very good job in this film.

  • @MWBallerHK Can I ask what this comment accomplishes? If you like the movie, great, we respect your opinion. I am just going to make an assumption here. There is a movie that I like out there, that you don't. I am not about to curse at you and tell you you are a shithead. We encourage difference of opinion, just wish you woud have expressed it more intelligently.

  • mrrawrmonster is the reasone movie studios take great high concept movie ideas and turn them in to simplistic paint by numbers action driven bullshit

designed for the mentally incapable. And as for it being original has he read a book or owned a tv in the last 50 years.

  • Kristian has some cool T's... I LOVE the Hunger Games animosity from Ellis, dude, the books are GOOD, read'em! Don't feel bad though, Journey is cool too.

  • @JORDMAN1001 Interesting. Hadn't heard that fact. But now that you mention it, it does explain a lot about the film and the director's vision. Thank you for stating it in such a clear intelligent way!

  • @MrRawrmonster12 Yeah, if you listen to what I say in the comment, I am aware it is a sci fi and the point of the "realistic" comment was the execution of the idea. Obviously Star Trek isn't realistic but I believed it because it was executed in a way that made it seem it was all real. I can understand you liking the film, is the name calling necessary?

  • The movie had flaws but if you dont think to much about it its a decent movie.

Total recall remake will be better.

  • I cant believe Roger Deakins wasted his time with this...One of the worst of the year.

  • @schmoesknow Just went and saw this yesterday, and you guys were spot on about this movie being a let down. It had so much potential, and where the movie started to lose it was just after the time police showed up to arrest JT.

The movie had tons of potential, and it was all wasted. All of a suddent, they can walk anywhere on the right side of town without being spotted and just flash their pieces everywhere.

I do think the story had a deeper meaning on our current economic stand point.

  • This review is 100% correct. Spot on about the acting and writing. JT went back to his pre-Social Network days and Amanda was dull. This movie at times looked like a music video or cologne commercial. I did like Matt Bomer and happy he didn't have to suffer long in this. Also, Yaya DaCosta was good.

Also, wouldn't a cell phone had helped when Will's mom didn't have enough time to get home? No cell phone, but pay phones are back in the future?

  • @schmoesknow just came back from the theater and i have to say I usually agree with your ratings but I completely disagree with this one, especially Mark's. Critics, who I usually sort of agree with, also trashed this movie and I really dont know why. Yes it was a little all over the place but it was still really fun, entertaining, and suspenseful with decent acting. On a side note your review funny as usual haha

  • Everybody else says it's not worth your time (no pun intended), but I thought it was awesome and REALLY creative. I give it a 9 out if ten.

  • Wow, everyone else said it was pretty good. Might not see it now.

  • Do you guys just watch every movie that comes out?

  • 1.9 is way too high.

  • i liked it but it seemed like it needed more backstory ,.. on the other hand because they didnt backfill it the story moved without feeling slow

  • I just saw Drive. I liked it. You guys seen it yet? Gonna do a review?

  • @jasonlajoie They did that a long time ago.

  • Awful, awful, awful, awful movie.

  • I watched it I give it a 3.2

  • Whenever Justin Timberlake said something to Cillian Murphy, Cillian was always like "ok..."

So the dialog was rather awkward.

  • I liked this movie a lot lol

  • i went and saw puss in boots and i thought it was great this looked like a big mess so skipped it and i thought puss in boots would be a bit too childish but it was actually pretty entertaining

  • I just saw it. I liked it. The only thing I had a problem with was the acting. The "you can run, so can you" scene made me lol. Aha but other than the acting, I had a fun time with it.

  • im gonna see it because the concept interests me

  • Hey Mark, show me the Carfax!!

  • Lots of people don't like this and lots of people do like it, I will have to see for myself

  • no aging past 25 regardless of economic status.

its a science fiction movie not a suggestion for the future of society...

  • hey. would you guys agree that this looks like someone wanted to make a Logan's Run Remake then went "nah lets go more original"

  • Kristian, 2.5 REALLY? You guys made me laugh (LOL if you will) See you on the POD.

  • there is nothing more annoying than that comic con immortals commercial before this video.

this movie looks bad,not a movie on sci-fi channel bad (killer sharks versus killer squids starring debbie gibson) but getting there.

if this is the future then i wanna go....BACK IN TIME!!!

  • He wrote the truman show.

  • You confused me for a second there. Then I IMDB'd it. Yeah... he wrote The Truman Show. I thought you were referencing him directing it. I'll see this movie tomorrow... perhaps a double feature with Johnny English.

  • Do you guys just watch every movie that comes out?

  • Thank you for the honest review. Now you just saved me from using like 9 dollars to see it

  • kristian you should review the hungergames books! i would love to see that and im sure it would get people who dont really know about it into the movies too!

  • jeremy jahn predicted this will be a movie with alot of mix reviews lol

  • your boy chris stuckmann liked it lol ya should do a podcast on it

  • haha, awesome Demolition Man reference

  • hunger games will always conquer over everything

  • KRISTIAN: I've read the books, pal.

    MARK: Books?

    JK! JK! You guys, rock!

  • Would you two say that this movie is analogous to the recent Occupy Wall Street movement?

  • @CuriousGeorgeMonkey9 yes, 100 percent

  • @schmoesknow Thanks! Just saw the movie. Agree with the ideology but feel that the overall film is largely a disappointment. 1.9/5 Schmoes for me, too.

  • @schmoesknow this movie was good because it was original wich is rare with movies now so this movie deserves 4 out of 5

  • Maybe 70% of the population being the same age...creepy. I like the other sci-fi movies references.

  • So...no leprechauns?? For shame.

  • I really like friends with benefit. I thought Timberlake did a good job in it.

fwb is actually one of my favorite of the year.

  • love your hat harrloff

  • Hi,

If i'm not wrong you said Andrew Nichols also directed "The Truman Show",but I'm pretty sure Peter Weir directed that film.

    Good review though ;d

  • I look forward to this movie. But I have a question.

Do you guys never get into trouble by using clips in all your movie reviews? It surprises me because I have seen channels getting suspended because of it.

  • Wow, that is some shitty dialogue, in the trailer footage alone.

And, I dunno, Timberlake was good in The Social Network and Alpha Dog - but he looks terrible in this.

Also, Cillian Murphy pronounces it 'Killian'. Nobody gets it right!

  • Aww it's a shame, I was so excited to see it. :(

  • ive seen some shows on discovery about how they made mice live 3 times longer by changing their DNA and stuff- so this future in the movie could happen - we might one day want to f*ck out mother-in-laws and their mothers too and so on;)

  • I love the premise but too bad they didn't execute it well. I'll just watch this on cable.

Talking about Hunger Games, have you guys seen Battle Royale?

  • Its a shame. This movie looked really interesting.

  • i was like ya when you said the hunger games:D

  • Wow seems the movies mediocre at best :( shame....what would you guys rather watch again if ya had to...this or 3 musketeers?

  • Kristian, if the Hunger Games movie ends up being horrible I'm going to be worried about you!

  • I love the fact Kristian likes the Hunger Games. Such great books and hopefully good movies. PS have seen the new character poster I think I died. Wody as Haymitch could kiss the casting director.

  • ever since i saw JT in Alpha Dog, ive never really had a problem with him in films, i actually thought he was great in the social network, i hope he gets more dramatic roles in the future

  • So... They had to make sure that their cast and even the extras were around 25... Or make them look 25... Is it possible that ''In time'' will be nominated for the Academy Award for best make up? Cause if it's gonna be among the nominees i better check it out :]

  • I love Harloff's one man crusade to reference The Hunger Games in every single review.

  • I pass on anything with jt and amanda whatsherface

  • oh... and i thought Timberlake was great in Alpha Dog.

  • "everybody limber up 'cause in the future theres alot of running." great stuff Ellis.

  • @schmoesknow In Time we'll all die when Jack and Jill gets released in a couple of weeks.

  • I like the Hunger Games Reference

  • I could never take Timberlake seriously in any action movie...never.

  • I really want to see "The Rum Diary"instead of this. This is something that I would watch when it comes on HBO and Showtime, or buy it when it is cheap on Blu-Ray. I was interested when i first saw the trailer but now that it is out it seems like it is very underwhelming when trailer made it look good.

  • Kill-ian (correct pronunciation) awesome actor.

  • I might check thisfilm out. Thanks for reviewing it !

  • Timberlake has already been to sci-fi in Southland Tales, an incredible movie. I love Richard Kelly!

  • In Time would be a waste of MY time

  • Aw man I was really excited to see this movie!!! especially because Cillian Murphy was in it...hmm

now since tomorrow is my last day on fall break I need to pick a movie to see.

I wanna see Like Crazy or Puss in Boots...

  • I actually agree with almost everything you're saying Harloff, I still enjoyed it though.

  • I'm hoping to see it but your review was upsetting because I was pretty excited to go see this.

  • Ellis just read the hunger games

  • Gah!!! I was really looking forward to this movie!

  • I'm with Mark 110% with his rating! Kristian you were too nice. :)

  • I'll skip this and save money, thanks great review,

  • 5 out 5 Schmoes for Ellis's t-shirt. There's no way that shirt was a "Buy It Now." I bet there was a lot of bids on that treasure.

  • Damn.. I really thought this movie would be surprisingly good.. Guess not..

  • I didnt even think the idea was cool, too silly

  • Am I the only one that thinks this is just like Logan's Run?

  • @ElLocoDiabloNegro

I was just reading about Logan's run and it definitely had the same outlook! I think Logan's run though was definitely more realistic...almost reminded me of Minority Report.

  • Saw you in the commercial for carfax MARK!!!

  • Is their any movie that you two are on completely opposite ends on the Schmoes scale?

  • Why aren't there hackers that get you infinite time :)

  • Is this what has become of the Logan's Run remake or is that still coming?

  • No most likely not. I was so excited for this movie :( and it was by the same director of my two favorite movies Truman Show and Gattaca. That is sad. Why? Did they need more time to construct this film? Ugh. This makes me so angry. And I love Cillian! He needs to be in more awesome films. Oh! Hey did you guys hear about Speilberg blaming Lucas for Indy Jones 4 fail. I laughed so hard. Anyway, sad that Movie was a bust.

  • the cat getting my money

  • That's pretty funny b/c people usually review the actual game and not the trailer. That's understandable b/c they're so many sites that do video game reviews and not enough video game trailer reviews which is why your a win in my book.

  • @wannabeaballer41 Yeah we figure, people get excited for movie trailers and they definitely get excited for game trailers, why not talk about it. We have had some haters on the idea but hey we will keep trucking along. Thanks for checking it out!

  • jeez will amanda s, ever get a good movie :D

  • @djackd Liked her acting in Mean Girls

  • I have close to no interest in this movie. In general, I don't like Timberlake, and I also didn't like the trailer. I'll see Puss in Boots instead. Probably more entertaining

  • Hey are you guys now posting stuff on machinima now?

  • @wannabeaballer41 Yes sir, we have a videogame trailer review segment we do for Machinima

  • @schmoesknow

have you got a link to any of these videos?

  • I have no interest in this movie just because Timberlake is the lead! Also, yeah I ca't think of an excuss why people will just some day not age past 25! but yet need to buy time to stay alive!? It's just confusing! and I haven't even seen the film!

  • I'm seeing this, but now my expectations have sunk.

  • Since Matt Bomer plays a 105-year-old dude, I'm guessing this isn't the "not-too-distant-future" but rather a future spawned by an alternate present. The technology of this world is not overly advanced, is it? Let's say the time-living scenario started in the 1940s...if Bomer hit age 25 in 1950, that would make the movie's present the year 2030. They didn't get into that at all, did they?

  • This could have been so f***ing good :'(

  • Janet Jackson, hahaha

  • good job guys, keep it up

  • I love mark's face when Kristian says" I read the book" It's like " What's a book?"

  • I want to see this because the director made my favorite sci-fi movie of all time (no pun intended), gattaca

  • @theeab1993 Really great movie and I thought of it a few times as well throughout it

  • wow really schmoes> damn i guess it had to come for a movie that looked good to not live up since pretty much everybody movie lived up to the hype this year. good review schmoes

  • I always wondered why you have Funny movie review in your title, if anything this is serious and informative.

  • Great review guys!

  • Great review as always. Wasn't really looking forward to the film, but with your review now I think I'll wait for DVD

  • I can't watch this movie without thinking of Motherlover lol

  • Thanks for the review! I was looking forward to In Time, but now I have lower expectations and I might be less disappointed when I see it. Also, May the odds be ever in your favor.

  • Bad acting and bad dialogue. I can't get past that no matter how interesting the premise is. The film looks like Gattaca lite. Niccol did this for the paycheck. I are disappoint.

  • I love how Kristian brings up The Hunger Games at the slightest occasion :)

As for this movie, it seems like the idea is good but underdeveloped. And Amanda Seifrid's wig looks ridiculous.

  • If your hopes have sunk, watch Jeremy Jahns review, he and the schmoes usually agree but Jeremy said he kinda liked him, Watch his video.

  • @awsmdino Jeremy and Chris do like this more than us and you should definitely take a look and see what they think.

  • @schmoesknow what you do with all that time? JT: i wouldnt waste it. im sorry this is such a stupid fucking line it actually bothers me

  • i want to see In Time.

  • I'll probably see it still, but my hope for it has sunk. I thought the premise was awesome. From what you say the execution was horrible.

  • Meh, I'll probably see it.

I've been waiting for this since I first heard about it,. Seeing as I grew up with Logan's Run on Beta and this is probably the closest we're going to get to a even halfway to half decent LR (cos for all the remake talk, it's kind of an un-remakable movie ... too much of its time imho) *shrugs* I'm going to see In Time.

  • Aww dang, thought this movie was gonna be pretty cool, but I guess not. Probably won't see it now. Thanks for the review schmoes.

  • i'd say the story happens in a parallel universe~ since the reason why the currency is the way it is is never explained like it was always like that...

  • MARK !!! LOVE THE JOURNEY T-SHRIT, why the hell are you all sweaty are you on the drugs? you look like you just finished wacking it back in your tool shed!

  • Oh man, this is disappointing. But i just knew J.T. just was NOT lead material. And I thought Cillian Murphy would be the best out of all of 'em.

  • Im really looking forward and im angry about some negative reviews and its rotten. But good review.

  • Schmoes, I loved the vid, but I don't really get what you mean by "it wasn't executed well". Was it rushed? Was there not enough exposition? Was it not that interesting? PLEASE EXPLAIN SCHMOES! PLEASE!

  • LOOKS LIKE A BORING ASS MOVIE, IM NOT EVEN GOING TO RED BOX IT.. this move looks like its full of farts

  • Headin to see The Rum Diary this weakend but I'll will check this out when it hits blu ray cause I'm a big fan of Lord of War and this is Niccol's first film since then.

    D.A. of Schmoeville

  • I wanna see it because of the cool setting, but listening to your review, Chris, and Jeremy's...their is no hot scene with Amanda Seyfried...damn lol eh I still wanna check it out xD

  • I rather not waste my time with this movie.

  • Mark... It appears you have an endless amount of AMAZING shirts.

And Kristian, gotta love your Hunger Games ref. When Mark was just like: "what?" I hope you felt smarter than him XD

  • The Truman Show's one of my favorite movies of all-time,too! And my prediction was wrong...I didn't expect Mark to hate it.

  • chris and jeremy both liked the movie, you guys didnt so much, first time i've really seen a major difference in opinion with you guys, quite interesting. I'm still looking forward to seeing it, gotta wait though (from the UK grr)

  • call me when hugo hits theaters!

  • Comment removed

  • All that negative feedback and Kristian still gives it a passing grade?

  • It's such a shame when there is a great new idea for a movie and it disappoints us.

  • boom

  • BEETLEJUICE!
