Have ALWAYS like these artistsmusic. I had a crush - 'the girl next door'- on Connie when I was yeah-high to a grasshopper. He father in the beginning, would buy all her records so that local stations 'survey' would make her popular. I believe with Mr D being an actor, composer, arranger & vocalist, he would have been 'bigger' - 'greater' - than The Man, Frank Sinatra. Thank you for taking the time & trouble to upload these 2 great artists. CFN
She was under her father's thumb. She was a nice decent girl. I love playing her records.
I got my beloved Mom, Mimi Rosenberg, the music by Connie entitled Jewish Songs. It brings a tear to my eye when I hear her sing "My Yiddisha Mama." Thanks for getting back to me and sharing this wonderful music.
I'm kinda dumbfounded by the people here saying that her career would/might not have been as successful if she'd married Bobby Darin.
Why? He wasn't looking to marry some unknown stay at home dowdy woman or otherwise he would not have married Sandra Dee, who was very much a star at the time of their marriage.
In an interview Connie gave in the '80s she admits that her biggest regret was not having married Bobby. She loved him till the day he died.
Love Connie Francis (Concetta) and Bobby. Connie's father should have given him a chance. Saw Connie perform in the 80's on Mulberry Street at the Feast of San Genaro. Really great.
Thank you for sharing this with all of us, AConnieChannel. She has always been and will always be my favorite. Good for her dad.
I remember her loving Bobby Darin, and he loved her so much prior to his marrying Sandra Dee. The father thought he was no good for Connie so the story goes. She may have had a happier life if she had wound up with him.
As parents, we do the best we can short of playng God.
I love you Connie. She came from Newark, New Jersey, where my father came from.
@irismcooper - That is a shame.. Connie should had gone after him when he was available. Too bad maybe things would have turned out differently for both of them.
i have a nice memory of this woman Connie.....she came off the stage after her set and chatted with us Marines after an all star show in NC back around 1989......i remember her being so approachable and down to earth...a class act, love her !
It really nice to see these great entertainers when they were in their prime. Especially seeing Connie when she was so happy before life turned south on her. I would love to see the smile on her face again.
When I was a kid, growing up in an Italian-American household, all the guys has two crushes. Connie Francis and Annette Funicello. Looking at Connie here, who wouldn't want to marry her? God bless you, Connie!
why did her father oppose her relationship with bobby darin? thats what i read anyway. my ex husband is italian and his grandparents were first generation italians who came to the usa. his grandfather , he was told, also opposed his aunts from mixing with the local italian boys. He said he wanted them to have a better life and marry outside the italian community. He also wanted them to learn english. ! Funny...
@bossyboots55 After this performance, Connie's father literally chased Bobby out of the studio and threatened him with a gun. He felt that Bobby was not going to treat his daughter well and he didn't want Connie's career ruined over a man. They were madly in love and it broke Connie's heart, but really, if they had married her career would not have taken off like it did.
@rossinilove Connie has mentioned in interviews that some people, back then, did confuse her with Annette. That`s understandable. They could have passed as sisters. Both were great looking, and had similar looks.
From a talent standpoint, not so similar.
One thing one does not want to do is get into a "talent contest" with Connie Francis of the 1960`s.

So is it True that Connie & Bobby were "In Love" but their families
destroyed their "relationship". I always thought his true love was Sandra Dee.
Hard to choose from. Two Beautiful Women.

Grazie per il video e ciao da un amico italiano (from Tuscany).
