Just because they cannot see youtube in China doesn't mean you will get away with this. I will post this on Weibo or Renren. Then they will fire your stupid ass.
Wow, I am about to get my TESOL 100 hour cert and go to china. I was very nervous, despite coming from a sales/public speaking background. After watching your video, I am no longer nervous. I realize this video is about 3+ years old. That being said, I am no longer nervous because if a joke of a person like this can stay employed over in China as an ESL teacher, I know that someone passionate about actually changing lives will do great. Thank you Mr. Jackass, really, Thank you.
I am considering getting a certificate to teach English to Chinese kids! I did not do particularly well in English at school and I'm now 27, and not much of my English has been into practice since school either! Nonetheless, I really want to go teach and am very ditermined! Is it like, absolutely neccessary for one to be great at English? Or is it possible to just mainley focus on vocal and read from books etc. Might sound ridiculous but I do want to go teach despite the fact I am very average.
@bluffr22 I was not a great teacher but I inspired them quite a bit. I used a lot of conversation and humor and they loved it. I stopped because I quickly learned I was not meant to be a teacher.
@biswis85 How long did you go on for then? Which part of China did you work in ? How much was the pay, if you don't mind saying. Did you have the possibility of staying if you chose to? Were you a summer temp or did you do it for a term or a year? I know that's alot of questions btu I would really appreciate a response.
@SuperHappyCow there's are two commonly spoken chinese words when put together sound very similar and it may have brought that about. I work at a chinese restaurant and when my waitress was saying 那个那个那个(na ge)。。。 trying to find her words, a customer got REALLY offended. It basically sounds the same... but that's my guess about why that came up in class :P
Good job on teaching the repercussions of the "N" word. Yes a punch in the face is very likely. What city are you teaching in? I'm considering coming to China after I get my TESOL. I'd like to know more about how you like the pay, and the working environment.
Hahaha! This guy is funny, but actually I think he knows what he's doing. Behind all the chaos, he has a LESSON PLAN!. But there is a moral: in this story: (1) Students only learn what you get them to do, not what you tell them to do. (2) Don't do anything for your class that your class can do for themselves. (3) Your lessons must be FUN, otherwise your students won't remember them!
if you want to teach english in China or abroad, find a TEFL certification school. International TEFL Academy out of Chicago is a good place to start.
I'm a filmmaker and i have absolutely no experience with teaching, and I really want to try this out. What do i gotta do mate??? or better yet, where do I start?

How do your students react to you when you do this kind of stuff? Does your school encourage you to act silly or do they just not care?
