kharass76's method with casting weaken works great against this monster. I won this fight with level 27-28 characters on normal mode without one dying or summoning anything. Just cast weaken until it dies from a critical hit.

I think if you buy some bone dust before the battle for those who can't cast this spell it's even easier.

Yeah, I just tried to fight the beast in expert mode with my level 32 party... It was a massacre. Sometimes it's better to just crawl away with your legs between your legs whimpering for 'mommy.' Yes, I think I'll do that now...

Okay, I'll admit that what I wrote down for my comment was pretty much the kind of thing that your average computer role-playing nerd would write (imagine a dumbed-down version of Lazlo from "Real Genius" writing that). As a child, I remember reading the statistical entry of the "Boa1000E" in the W7:COTDS Cluebook, thinking that my life wouldn't be complete until I had killed that specific monster. So I thought that my comment had done justice to the effort that Feiwill had put into this video.

Well, the Cluebook overrates the Beast a bit, but I can confirm that beating it for the first time arranges for a shot of cocaine.

Total time of the fight was less than 5 mins. Tho the xp wasn't that good (around 980k). One of the other Gorror encounters gave a couple xp more. Don't know why, but for the hardest mob in the game it should give the most xp if you ask me.

Nice video, indeed. But there is actually an easier way to beat this encounter. Immediately hide at the beginning (or use invis potions). After that just keep throwing Anti-Magic/Weaken spells at it for a couple of rounds (Silence also works at times). That way he can't cast anything harmful at all. After a couple of rounds you can send in a char with Kirijutsu. It took my Faerie/Ninja with a CoC 1 round to dispatch 2 of them. At that time my party was level 51. So it's not that hard.

Wow, that's one hell of a good strategy! I tried Silence/Weaken, but just a few (unsuccessful) times. I also didn't know Weaken increased the odds of a critical.

Well, that sort of dispels the phenomenon ... now I'm gonna have to pick a new nr. 1 toughest enemy in CRPGs.

I can confirm kharass76's plan works with level 40 characters; I killed 2 Beasts with one death and one stoning. Also use Armormelt and Superman spells to further lower its defences and increase your offense. All these spells wear off and need recasting every few rounds.

It made my laugh, really. I kill both these monsters in first round of fight. I kill or gorrors monsters in 4 minutes of real time. Just level around 90 or 100 and it is kirujutsu easy - first blow.

well.. you are my hero. i remember playing this as a kid and looked at the stats of that thing and tried to fight it and came to the conclusion that it was impossible and the creators just put it there to laugh at your inability to beat it :P.

but now i see you went and defeated 2 of them. kudos. im actually starting to try and play the game again, but sadly, no faerie ninja for me.

This battle isn't that tough once you've lvl'd up sufficiently. If you ever get stuck anywhere, I offer all the help I'm able to provide. Anyway, post some gameplay vids too, please!

heh, thx, actually, the last time i played the game, it screwed me over, it was literally impossible for me to get the legend map. what happened was i used the locate person to find an ncp and lore told me the rattikin had the map, all the ncp rats were dead, which leaves barlone. and i couldnt get to him since all the rat ncps were dead :P

tried usin dsedit but i dont have the technical knowledge or time to figure out how to do that. so yea.

So far, I have won this battle only once while fighting on EASY mode. My party was around level 35, and none of my characters had ever changed his profession. To see the successful defeat of TWO beasts here is just incredible.

Almost all bosses in the game appear with their better halves in expert mode. Quite surprisingly, Magna Dane doesn't. Probably no Dane females out there. Or perhaps...
