  • LASTING POWER!

  • I have the record..yea, i am old..and it skips at the very end. Right on the last snare effect. I used to fall asleep listening to that while studying. Takes me back to high school and what turns out was a VERY easy life at that time!! Lots of bands from the 80's were underrated in their time and held up now. This is very much so one of those bands!

  • This song..... especially the instrumentals during the intro, is just the most beatiful thing i've heard.

  • Comment removed

  • I love how clean this song is (:

  • @luppo0144 Sorry for your loss. I lost my mother 4 months ago. I know where you' ve been....specially when you listen to a special song.

  • I could not listen to this song back in the 80's,either,but nowadays it sounds FANTASTIC to me!! How i've grown to realize what a Genious Roland is!!

  • @Virgolistens i use to read and listen to this song it helped me study, not only that it reminds me of walking around a fair ground with rides, and animals for the first time, almost like out of a dream...

  • OUT OF THIS WORLD!

  • I HOPE MEETING THEY SOME DAY....

  • the 4 people who dislike this are very musicaly uneducated..retards..WHAT A TUNE

  • I love Tears For Fears, their music relaxes me and helps relief stress. although I might say that Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal have the sexiest singing voice I've heard. Im hoping to meet them someday.

  • I know TFF fairly well but I haven't heard this song o_o Which album is it off of?

  • @ZephyrShez Songs From big chair,I think

  • I have only listened to their more popular songs but OMG, I have discovered today one of the BEST bands EVER!!! What music, what voices, what emotion!!! What happened to them? Oh, and did I mention sexy??? omg!!!

  • I heard this for the first time laying beside a special someone at the park. Soooo magical. I felt like I was transported into some 80's dream..

  • I could sit and listen to this all day it's a beautiful song.

  • ?????????????? words cant explain.great track if i ever wna kil myself

  • 4 people didn't listen to Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal.

  • @danucciguzman why do braindead morons like you always bitch about people who dislike videos? You are the epitome of a cliche parroting moron.

  • @YappyRaccoon

Don't take that tone with me. It was a joke comment.

  • feel!!!

  • I cannot begin to tell you how hot this band was back n the day. I was in my early 20s and working in Scotland. This band was global.

  • One of Ian Stanley's great masterpieces.

  • VIAGEM DO KRALHO,,, FALA SERIO... OUTRO MUNDO, OUTRAS VIDAS... SEM TOMAR NADA, SO OUVIR ESTA MUSICA E OUTRAS DO TFF... TANK U

  • My All-Time Favs: TFF, Dave Matthews Band, The Police & the angelic voice of Natalie Merchant.

  • Genius is so rare these days, such a haunting song, just takes you away....

  • when i look up the lyrics for this song, it only has the two first verses, none of the other lyrics that follow, can someone tell me wth they say throughout the rest of the song?

  • i feel bad for idiots that dont listen to all types of music.usually its because they are afraid of what their freinds would think if they heard them listening to a nice piece of artits like going to a museum and saying "nah,i really dont wanna see picasso or monet,im only here for van gogh.

its conformity when you really think about it.

  • @3lullabies

When they should be saying, I want to hear everything. : /

  • @skrillex0395 And you have a life so important that you felt compelled to comment here. Ass.

  • penis consumers

  • @Royden111 Do you?

  • Silvaria- I was gonna post a comment but you said xactly what I was thinking. I was 17 when I heard this & so much was ahead. Takes me back!!

  • Silvaria- I was gonna post a comment but you said xactly what I was thinking. I was 17 when I heard this & so much was ahead. Takes me back!!

  • Is that Dave Coulier?

  • Thanks for posting this song and the pictures of the band. Great song, very mellow, very calm. When I listen to it makes me remember when I was at the University and had a lot in my mind at the time. This song helped me relax and organize my thoughts at the time, making me come back to earth and start again fresh and new.

  • TFF rules..roland,curt,ian & manny...

  • I quickly fell in love with this track of the SFBC album cause it was such a perfect "goodnight-tune". I had my stereo right beside my bed and put the record on, closed my eyes and drifted off into sleep... :)

  • mil veces he escuchado este tema.

con apenas 15 años, en mi habitacion de noche sin luz desde la ventana dejando la vista perdida y la mente volar.

  • omg i just love this

  • THE best album of the 80s in my opinion. One of a number of very good tracks of this. Even the extra tracks are good!

  • Songs from the big chair was the first album i ever owned.

  • Tears for fears is an excellent band, but this song is really outstanding! lots of happy memories

  • please LISTEN

  • lovely nostalgia hearing this, i love it

  • always loved this song!!!

  • nice song!! the #1

  • Thank you to everyone who responded positively...it's good to know the optimistic spirit of this music lives on, even when there is so much negativity in the world. Just...thank you. 8)

  • love this song

  • i remember this song when i was a kid... really wonderful to listen to again

  • i like when it goes into 1:23 i wish it were longer.

  • 4 people do not no how to listen to the music

  • sounds like Phil Collins - Against All Odds...just listen

  • i remember listening to this track back in the day, i went out all day on my mates 18th , we were going to town , but nobody turned up, so i went home out of it .. put the chip pan on and fell asleep, to this track on my mums rocking chair... i ended up burning down the kitchen... it could have been the house... im lucky to be alive ...

  • Yes...FOR EVER...Jesucristo la silba en tiempos de dificultad..

  • @richardphg m speak english....

  • I first listened to this song when i was about 12 and ever since then tears for fears have been my favorite band. Their music is so great i have learned to play half of their songs on my paino. and because their sheet music is so hard to find i have had to listen to the songs over and over again and figue out the notes and write them down. they will always be the best band to me

  • My dad use to play this song when I was a baby to stop me from crying and I see why just LISTEN............This song really eases your soul and makes you want to be by a waterfall under the stars with your loved one. This song takes me to a place that puts you in the mind of neverland, seriously I listen to this song to get away from the troubles of this world. No recession, no violence, hate, poverty, racism, etc. Just peace.

  • This is the song of my life... After my Father passed away in 2007, I found myself playing the Album and "Listen" started to be on repeat on the CD player! It's a song that was hard for me to listen to, but i could not stop myself. That was a hard time in my life.....Tonight is the first time it's been played since 2007! Rest in Peace Dad... Love you 4ever x

  • @lupo0144 It's a song from the heart, sometimes hard to listen to but ultimately perfect,RIP XX

  • @lupo0144 Hi, I played this song when my dad died back in 1985 I found it very spiritual. But the thing that got to me was the key board player who wrote this tune, was being interviewed on bbc radio it was the 10 yr anniversary of the album. At the time I was in my car, the guy asked what the tune was about, he said the sense of losing something or some one !!. I had to pull over It blew me away, there are no lyrics to tell you this its just the mood of the song . regards

  • @lupo0144 It's a beautiful song - probably the best one ever to remind you of your great dad..:)

  • @lupo0144 Sorry for your loss...truly a great song and hope it reminds you of the great times with your father. This song always brings the peace for me and reminds me when times were much simpler, but we all have to move on. I think you posted 7 mos ago, so I hope your still not having a hard time listening to it now...its so beautiful...

  • This was one of my favorite songs from "Songs From the Big Chair". I was 13 when this album came out in 1985. Judging by the comments, it seems like a lot of us were children of the 80s and this songs brings back a lot of memories for us. @Silvaria928 said it better than I can. This was a time in our lives when our futures were yet to be written and anything was possible. That time is past for me now but it reminds me of where my own children will soon be in their lives.

  • Does anyone know who does the vocals on this song? I can't actually tell who it is, but I have a feeling it's Ian Stanley since he made this song... although it sounds a little like Curt? =\

  • @LoboRoland I believe it's actually both of them at different times. There's some quotes explaining the song on the fansite Memories Fade. :)

  • @LoboRoland Oh and by both I mean Curt and Roland. :)

  • @LoboRoland Curt sings the normal vocals the falsetto vocals are Roland amazingly!!

  • i drove from los angeles to massachusetts and played this tape in 85 until the shit ,twisted and got carefully untwisted, anyone who listened to cassettes knows exactly what im talkin about by untwisting your tape...i bought another one! still love songs from the big chair...

  • "songs from the big chair" was my very first tape I bought. I have since been involved with all types of music from metal, hip hop, techno, blues, country, etc...so as you can see i love music. "listen" will always be dear to my heart and will always take me back to that time when things were a little simpler. I will NEVER forget that album!! thanks for the vid!!

  • This is such a relaxing song. When I was in 5th grade I did not imagine that I'll see them in concert 27 years later. They were here in the Broward Center of Performing Arts last tuesday.

  • @ajcivicracer I agree...Relaxing!! I was in 6th grade when i bought the album...unfortunately, I was not able to attend their concert when they came here(Clearwater, FL), but i'm not giving up! Hope you had an awesome time and wish i couldh've been there too!!

  • I was there too, the first time I heard TFF I was only 9 years old in 85 and finally I just got to see them last Tuesday... It was one of the best things that ever happened to me lol

  • @paulademonio I found myself listening to their CD the whole week. I'm glad we all had fun that night. It just might encourage TFF to come back :o)

  • @paulademonio I've been a fan for that long too and this tour was my first opportunity to see them live. It was awesome! The house was packed and there was such a great energy. It was everything I had ever hoped for.

  • this is such a relaxing song

  • The background music to this song was in the original Matrix movie .....

  • 80's were the best, and tears for fears is the best!!!! The music nowdays sucks!!! Only screaming into the microphone, i mean is that music??? seriously, no emotions in music these days. I love tears for fears!!!!!!! I hope music like this will come back soon!!!

  • Yeah, this is definetily one of their eclectic "Nuggets"

  • Meet me at the chicky wicky wicky wicky sign Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.

  • When you close your eyes and just listen to this whole album it is one of the greatest of all time. Rivals Pink Floyd, the beatles basically you think of these guys as nobodys but man this album every song just flows into the next. It doesn't matter how old you are it just resinates in your head. I don't know how they did it. maybe an acid trip I don't know, but damn it awesome.

  • @papoman221 Music like this from the 80s always has this intriguing fantasy or even Sci Fi quality that is still so appealing today. :)

  • @papoman221 You think of these guys as nobodies? I've always thought of them as amazingly brilliant and awesome. This isn't their only fabulous album. It wasn't an acid trip...it's called talent.

  • Ever listen to this song during the melts?

  • let me have a chicken nugget with the syrup

  • There isn't 1 bad song on this whole album...

  • Sheer 80s briliance..enough said

  • Just listen

  • saw them in vegas last year; they were playing this prior to the show ... loved it!

can i have sum chicken nuggets with the syrup :)

  • Masterpiece

  • i think if u had a bad day just put this on sit back and chill outexcept for you rich twats who think they own london.your time will come at least most of us earn an honest living

  • Ce titre est fabuleux. Comme toi, bongobingoaz, c'est un condensé de souvenirs.

A écouter au casque, dans le noir, pour bien en savourer les multiples détails et notes imbriquées... pure émotion.

  • dont you think curt looks like the brittish bulldog from WWF? lol

  • OMG...I haven't heard this song since I was a teenager...it takes me back to sitting in my room with my headphones on & the lights out...listening, & imagining...there was so much hope for the future, so many potential dreams to be realized...this music made me feel something beyond myself. Those were the times when each new day could bring an adventure...the perfect love and the perfect life were still attainable...all I had to do was stretch out my hand and my mind...

  • @Silvaria928 ... well said ... i was deep in first love at the time ... with this and her! ... fond memories ... and the scars still linger ;-)

  • @Silvaria928 Perfectly stated...

  • @Silvaria928 HELL YES!!!

  • @Silvaria928 I so relate to your mindset at the time. I suppose we all thought everything we hoped and dreamed for was just out there waiting to be plucked like ripe fruit off a tree. When I hear these songs today I'm transported as well....and some days I wish I could just stay *there*.

  • @Silvaria928 its still the same the perfect life is when you open your heart and mind, dont give up. I was the same and still am now. For that life you are talking about exists in you, only in the external worlds it is frowned upon. So make a vow to live your way, dont give in to others projections. They have surrounded you and made you loose your natural view.

    best wishes craig

  • @Silvaria928 I always take a look into the comments of the videos, but I get stuck into your remarkable opinion about how this song and overall the music makes you feel. I've to tell you, the years pass by and there's no day I felt the exact emotions you described about how the music can make us feel. Your comments besides remarkable it's beyond frontiers about everything, in the perfect love, in a new day, there's always the little details that make us smile, like this song for instance.

  • the best band in the world !

  • Sounds sort of like *Yanni* on this song...

  • @fastfoodclowns ...nothing like yan - ...what?

  • music and letter to the senses. thanks TfF

  • Well since i was in school when Songs from the big chair came out i got the album and was astonished to hear this song. It was mesmerising, even when i hear it now - 23 years later i still feel the emotions, memories and events that i had and felt back then, a song that is a hidden gem. Asong to me that will never be forgotten.

  • @1970kade i remember back o then too.. it's mesmerizing, but it only brings back memories of my room!

  • @maidenjuice um i know this is going to sound weird but how does it remind you of your room???????????

  • @1970kade Your post mentioned that the song stirred recollections of all kinds of things. I could only remember my room, where I listened to it again and again and again... That's all.

  • @1970kade

I feel the same way, tears for fears tunes really made a permanent impact on my life for ever.

  • Oh..... I love this melody..... I miss them, their sound, I wish they could return....... will always love them :-)

  • The song is nothing less than a gem from the forgotten 80's.

  • El día de mi muerte, le pediré a mis cercanos que coloquen dos temas de esta emocionante banda de los 80: "Listen" y "Pharoahs". Dos piezas musicales que están a fuego en mi alma. Gracias "Tears for Fears".

The day of my death, I will ask my neighbors to place two issues of this exciting band of the '80s: "Listen" and "Pharoahs." Two musical pieces that are burned into my soul. Thanks "Tears for Fears."

  • I totally agree, this is a great song, takes me back to when I was at Stockland Green School, when I had the Songs from the big chair lp.

  • This song helps me find those moments when their weren't any.

  • temazo, desde Chile, temazo

  • I have to say this is probably in my top 3 TFF songs and probably in my top 40 of all time. I saw them at the Mountain Winery here in the Bay Area this time last year, and they sound amazing, I mean incredible. It was strange though, their following while what you would expect yet seemed strange that the crowd was so white bread and homogeneously boring. I could imagine these guys killing it at a large fest like Coachella... as great as they are I hope they'll do that some day.

  • adoro essa musica, desde quando ouvi pela primeira vez em meados de 89...que saudades...

  • I could play this over and over....Very dreamy and relaxing...Its like walking into crowded room and seeing her there and doing a double take.....Later talking in a narrow dim hallway...Walking in the rain, hair wet...A hug in a doorway....Kissing the rain drops on her forehead...Breathing in her scent...Hmmmm nice.

  • i don't know why but this song has always made me feel great no matter what situation i was in...it caters to all emotions i guess you could say!

  • my all time favorite TFF tune

  • I can't put into words what this song means to me but I swear that I get a tear in my eye when ever I listen to it.

  • Birthday girl, No need to worry. to Hanan

  • Walking down Memory Lane ... one word, THATCHER ... the opposite to all this creativity! Doom, gloom and miners' strikes/pit closures/deprevation and misery for very many people.

  • bongobingoaz, you summed it up perfectly.

  • the music of eternity..........

  • I will respond to the times................People always claim nothing happened in the 80's. Granted, I am now in my mid 50's and looking back can say the 80's was a more peaceful time in our world. This music reminds me of the fact that the angst of the early 90's was not with us yet. It sounds like people still loved and had dreams. People did not look at the world, wandering what bad would come next.

  • @durbinjoseph

Those words ring so true Joseph. I am only 40 but I long for the days of the kind of creativity that the world seemed full of back then...

  • No words can describe how powerfull this song is.

The dreamy backing (created entirely by Ian Stanley) with the mindblowing lyrics by Roland about the cold war brought by Curt, which erupt into the powerful chanting 'Cumpleaños chica, no hay que preocuparse'(grow older girl, it's not your fault)

The most powerfull anti-cold war song by the best band ever.

  • there's a big burp at 1.36......

  • I love TFF forever!

  • i wish i could have been alive then to see tears for fears.... i was born in 92... my mom introduced me to this group....and i absolutley love their music.... i love oldies.... this song made me day dream the first time i heard it. im using it for a cool down for dance class

  • @kinkye that's awesome..i was born in 86 and I still love their music. They're still together but they rarely come to the US!

  • @ericmsandoval rarely come to The U.S? well Curt lives in L.A there touring this year in U.S.........They very rarely go to U.K at that is their homeland the last time was 2005 and it was only 4/5 dates then

  • @lukkreung where are the tour dates for the US?

  • @ericmsandoval Go to Curt Smith facebook page theyre on there

  • Comment removed

  • This is a masterpiece!

Shame Ian, Manny & Will aren't a part of TFF anymore as they made beautiful music together.

This time in exactly 2 weeks I will be seeing them LIVE!!!!!!!! I am so excited, it's been 25 years.

    Ticket-check, Frock-check, partner in crime-check, excitement level-check!

    YAY!!!! :-)

  • I love this song " Listen " , I just love the group too. What is the lead singers name and is that his wife standing behind him in the video...Shout, is that their families?

  • @ChelseaChyanKelley Roland Orzabal is the lead singer...sort of. Curt Smith did a lot of lead singing as well. So far as I know, it is family and friends of the band in the Shout video.

  • Distant yet coherent, this song strives with a whimsical euphoric sound that'll never escape me

  • Loved and hated this song because it was played right before they entered the stage and started the concert, yay. But it was played at end of concert when TFF just left the stage. :-(

We are the children that will listen (lyrics?), right?

  • Wow, does this bring back memories!

I saw them opening & closing night at Radio City in 1985 (?). Risked life to see them. An 18 yr old girl, traveling alone on the F train at 2am when the concert was over. Was so worth it! I was so in love with Roland Orzabal! Curt Smith never did anything for me, lol. Ian Stanley either. Manny Elias always reminded me of an older father trying to live his old rock & roll days or something, lol.

    Genius in harmonies and vocals.

  • Great song..great album... yes i said it..album!!

  • como an cambiado todos apesas de k fue hace poco , en los 80 y 90

k bueno k siguen vivos todavia y suigen cantando

  • Alexander emelianenko look a like 0:01-0:20

  • Been reading the comments about the spanish or as some called it "bad spanish" and I do think that there is a possibility that the spanish might be spanish from spain and not the spanish from the americas. There are some differences between the spanish of the 2 places and Roland's father was of Spanish-Basque descent. That's just food for thought. cheers. :)

  • Special!

  • one of my all time favorite songs Ever!.

  • This is such a strange and dreamy tune. I've always liked it, never understood it, but it always takes me back to the first time I heard it...to the days I was still in school and a lot of people that are dead today were still alive back then. It's like the soundtrack to my life. lol. A lot of great memories from my youth. All the Dreams, the fears, the hopes...all relived through this tune.

  • beautiful just beautiful..........

  • @bongobingoaz i really enjoyed reading your entry. I remember...

  • @bongobingoaz - I hear you man! I was 16 when I moved to Frankfurt, Germany. This album is what I remember MOST, traveling around in our Chevy van. I was in the heavy stage of teenage angst and this album gave me everything I needed.

  • @bongobingoaz Best cut on the entire album

  • @bongobingoaz Best cut on the entire album-I miss High School....

  • wow this is one of the best Tears for Fears songs yet, god damn they were good at what they did

  • My friend, this is African! These guys give props to where life began!

  • Are you sure? That would be pretty sweet!
