Spiderman inspires me so much im in grade 11 right now and for him to be doing all the things he does it really blows my mind his commitment and dedication. I love spiderman. And wat the hell this movie looks amazing. I was a raimi fan but looking back those movies were absolutely terrible, the acting wasnt very good and peter doesnt really look like hes in high school. Raimi's Spider-Man films were too campy. Not only that, but Tobey Maguire was SUCH a bad choice for Peter Parker. I liked Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn and James Franco as Harry, but those two aside, everything about Raimi's version just... wasn't right.

According to even Tobey Maguire in an interview the original spiderman had mechanical web shooters, also the original spiderman didn't have that red costume with silver lining, it was black as shown in the new trailer.. I am going to have to disagree with you on this, from what i've seen of the teaser trailer, i'm pretty damn excited about this film. Here is a key moment you clearly fail to address, and that's the mystery of peter's parents, something that was not touched on in the original spidey flicks, that in itself makes for a very different dynamic right off the jump dude. I like the look and feel of this, plus when you can sell a teaser without showing the villians look, you're doing a lot right to me.
The first Spiderman films weren't too faithful to the comics, actually. The reboot is more accurate because Peter doesn't meet Mary Jane in high school, he meets Gwen Stacy. And the only "light" thing about Spidey is his sense of humor. Besides that, it's actually supposed to be a pretty dark story. There's a lot of deaths surrounding Peter through the story. His parents, his uncle Ben, Gwen Stacy, and eventually Mary Jane.. Marc Webb is a great director, I think these films will be better.
If anyone does a reboot of the batman series, theyre dumb. Nothing is gonna top Nolan's trilogy. Batman has had soooooo many reboots! (Lets not forget, there have been 4 Batman actors: Adam west, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, and Now christian bale.) They also gave the hulk a reboot after 1 movie. @ChrisStuckmann The first movie did not match up with the comics "frame for frame". Parker was bit during a lab accident, not a lab tour. Spidey used his power for money and a TV show, not instant vendetta. His original love was Gwen Stacey, not MJ. He didn't gain his powers his senior year of high school, it was his sophomore year. He was 15 when he gained his powers. Learn your Spider-Man. The real Spider-Man. The Stan Lee Spider-Man.
I'm not putting any money down on this film. Why pay a lot of money to see his origin again? They should continue the series that they promised us when spiderman 1 came out (6 movies). Not 3 and a freaking reboot. Fuck Sony and this film.
Andrew Garfield is a great actor but I am not impressed with this new movie. I will try to reserve judgement until I get something amazing (get the joke). I want to like it but there is nothing that is pulling me in.

Spider-man may be jokey and and should seem that there should be a brighter tone. but Peter Parker has had everyone he was close to get ripped away from him, his parents, Uncle Ben and the first love he had Gwen Stacy were killed all before he left college. Then Mary Jane and Peter's marrige ended in "one more day" due to mophisto's intervention in his life. So really if you think about it Spider-man is really a front for people not to see that Peter is Spider-man. This new take seems bang on.

This new one looks much more like the actual origins story the Sam Raimi version didnt show Peter as a child this one does, and hes actually in high school. The other ones he was at the very end of his high school years and Gwen Stacy was originally his first love, and Mary Jane is brought in later.
I hate that Peter is always played by these stick thin pretty boys. Peter was NEVER tall and lanky in the comics. Look at the original comics. The whole point is he was AVERAGE. Average in height, weight, social standing-- you name it. But the IRONY is that there is something "amazing" about him, which is that he has these incredible powers, and more importantly, that he chooses to use them for the good of all. Andrew Garfield is a talented guy, nothing against him. But, he is NOT Peter Parker.

OMG I'm so glad there are competent people here who actually know spidey and not the ruined, inaccurate version that Raimi created( or at least the story's writer). Peter Parker is troubled, this movie actually looks like it'll be true to the real Spider-man books apart from the slight costume changes. First off peter parker was not happy always had problems im a big comic reader of the amazing spiderman and he fits the part for spiderman way better than the others they look like they stayed true to the comic. 2012 they will be rebooting every marvel movie that came out except Thor & Hulk & Iron Man, even xmen is getting rebooted because Marvel made other deals with different studios before Disney bought their rights, so this is the 1st to be done by Disney and their studios, other 3 spider mans suck they was not true to comics like other Marvel movies that failed and the others gave a false story to the new fans that came after the spider man movie, this movie is how it should be done.

@ToyStoryStarWarsFan Wayne is dark because he was a privileged boy ripped from the world he knows leaving him psychologically fractured. Spiderman's arguably darker because his initial intentions for stopping crime using his powers are driven by guilt. Spiderman's frequent witty remarks are a representation of how Parker uses his superhero persona to detach himself from what he is: a guilty, messed up kid. Spiderman's not dark, Parker is. This is why the film can easily work with a dark tone.

I kind of agree, Im a little worried about this new movie. Spider-Man is not supposed to be dark and gritty, that's Batman for you. Yes, Peter lives a tragic life, but Spider-Man has most often been portrayed with colour and at times, humour. And the costume should be true to what it always has been, they may as well have made this one green and purple too.
@trucanuck14 There are a lot more darker stories in the Spider-Man reads. Clone saga, the Death of Gwen Stacy, Lets just say death was a big deal in the story lines, MJ and their divorce...etc.. Sure he wise cracks but the the ones that I have read were pretty dark and serious. My favorite spider-man story lines were when Mcfarlane took over for a bit.

Because you cannot deny Spiderman 3, despite the awesome special effects, was a failure. It completely failed on Venoms caracterization and effects...There was no time to tell all of the parallel storys. Not that the pacin was bad thou.

Im a huge spider-man fan and only liked the movies cause it at least put spidey on the silver screen. the webslinging was great. raimi did good with that special camera but he was not the best for the job. the annoying thing is that the toby mguire trilogy had all the villians you wanted. goblin, doc ock, and venom, for me they were in a perfect order. i just cant imagine the amazing spiderman without starting at green goblin, and i will end up just comparing spiderman and amazing spiderman, because as u sed, it is an origins story again. i liked the scene with his parents, but i just cant see this movie being as great as i want it to be.

I have to agree with you. The origin should be dealt with in the first few minutes like in the last Hulk movie. The First Person pov works well to impress the teenagers who love 1st person shooters, but it does look silly to me. And it's on 3d...

According to even Tobey Maguire in an interview the original spiderman had mechanical web shooters, also the original spiderman didn't have that red costume with silver lining, it was black as shown in the new trailer.. Also the older spiderman movies in my opinion were targeted for family.. I wouldn't mind seeking a more gritty version of spiderman..

I am going to have to disagree with you on this, from what i've seen of the teaser trailer, i'm pretty damn excited about this film. Here is a key moment you clearly fail to address, and that's the mystery of peter's parents, something that was not touched on in the original spidey flicks, that in itself makes for a very different dynamic right off the jump dude. I like the look and feel of this, plus when you can sell a teaser without showing the villians look, you're doing a lot right to me.

The first Spiderman films weren't too faithful to the comics, actually. The reboot is more accurate because Peter doesn't meet Mary Jane in high school, he meets Gwen Stacy. And the only "light" thing about Spidey is his sense of humor. Besides that, it's actually supposed to be a pretty dark story. There's a lot of deaths surrounding Peter through the story. His parents, his uncle Ben, Gwen Stacy, and eventually Mary Jane.. Marc Webb is a great director, I think these films will be better.

If anyone does a reboot of the batman series, theyre dumb. Nothing is gonna top Nolan's trilogy. Batman has had soooooo many reboots! (Lets not forget, there have been 4 Batman actors: Adam west, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, and Now christian bale.) They also gave the hulk a reboot after 1 movie. This new one looks much more like the actual origins story the Sam Raimi version didnt show Peter as a child this one does, and hes actually in high school. The other ones he was at the very end of his high school years and Gwen Stacy was originally his first love, and Mary Jane is brought in later.

I hate that Peter is always played by these stick thin pretty boys. Peter was NEVER tall and lanky in the comics. Look at the original comics. The whole point is he was AVERAGE. Average in height, weight, social standing-- you name it. But the IRONY is that there is something "amazing" about him, which is that he has these incredible powers, and more importantly, that he chooses to use them for the good of all. First of all, yes Gwen was Peter's first love, but not his first girlfriend and they didn't meet till college Second, the spider bit his hand, not his neck, and Gwen had nothing to do with Spidey's origin. First off peter parker was not happy always had problems im a big comic reader of the amazing spiderman and he fits the part for spiderman way better than the others they look like they stayed true to the comic. Its hard to take someone serious like you when your wearing a petafiles shirt but hey your entitled to your opinion but so am I and I say this one will blow the others out the water

2012 they will be rebooting every marvel movie that came out except Thor & Hulk & Iron Man, even xmen is getting rebooted because Marvel made other deals with different studios before Disney bought their rights, so this is the 1st to be done by Disney and their studios, other 3 spider mans suck they was not true to comics like other Marvel movies that failed and the others gave a false story to the new fans that came after the spider man movie, this movie is how it should be done.

@ToyStoryStarWarsFan Wayne is dark because he was a privileged boy ripped from the world he knows leaving him psychologically fractured. Spiderman's arguably darker because his initial intentions for stopping crime using his powers are driven by guilt. Spiderman's frequent witty remarks are a representation of how Parker uses his superhero persona to detach himself from what he is: a guilty, messed up kid. Spiderman's not dark, Parker is. This is why the film can easily work with a dark tone.

I kind of agree, Im a little worried about this new movie. Spider-Man is not supposed to be dark and gritty, that's Batman for you. Yes, Peter lives a tragic life, but Spider-Man has most often been portrayed with colour and at times, humour. And the costume should be true to what it always has been, they may as well have made this one green and purple too.

@trucanuck14 There are a lot more darker stories in the Spider-Man reads. Clone saga, the Death of Gwen Stacy, Lets just say death was a big deal in the story lines, MJ and their divorce...etc.. Sure he wise cracks but the the ones that I have read were pretty dark and serious. My favorite spider-man story lines were when Mcfarlane took over for a bit.

Because you cannot deny Spiderman 3, despite the awesome special effects, was a failure. It completely failed on Venoms caracterization and effects...There was no time to tell all of the parallel storys. Not that the pacin was bad thou.
PLUS...Sandman was unnecessary! The uncle Ben plot was kinda unnecessary. Tobey doing the Emo thing was ridiculous! And it had one of the worst cliches in history

Looks like their trying to copy Nolan's Batman masterpieces. The thing is although I do like Marc Webb, I don't think he's as good as Christopher Nolan. I'm still looking forward to this though & I feel it will turn out be good. I have faith in Marc Webb.

The Toby of spider man was not really choronologicaly faithful
Ultimatly they messed up, because the story cant go anywhere in order.
Now the Anderew garfield version looks Alot more realistic! he looks like a real anti social, in the trailer he even started studdering when speaking to gwen, If you knew the phycology of a person like that, then you would know andrew garfiled does a good job.
+ this fits the story and tone of spider man very well, its not light , its actaully pretty dark.

They shouldl have rolled with Spider-Man 4 and Ramini .. even if SM3 wasnt all it could have been .. ..

Im a huge spider-man fan and only liked the movies cause it at least put spidey on the silver screen. the webslinging was great. raimi did good with that special camera but he was not the best for the job. Did good for an adaption from the cartoons though. Not the comic book.

the annoying thing is that the toby mguire trilogy had all the villians you wanted. goblin, doc ock, and venom, for me they were in a perfect order. i just cant imagine the amazing spiderman without starting at green goblin, and i will end up just comparing spiderman and amazing spiderman, because as u sed, it is an origins story again. i liked the scene with his parents, but i just cant see this movie being as great as i want it to be.

They were spying on either the Red Skull or Russia, depending on whether you are reading the comics or watching the 90's cartoon, and which comic you are reading. The person who had killed Uncle Ben in the comics was actually on the way to Peter's house after being hired by the Chameleon to find some documents that the Parker's had.The web shooters Peter uses were actually originally designed by his father. this was hidden by SHEILD

Lol Tobey crybaby maguire did not do a great job as Spider-man. First of all where was the banter? Secondly I've been reading Spidey since 1993 and no where in that did I ever get the hint that he was happy wtf. Spider-man is my favorite comic hero and I assure you there were only instances where he was happy where the rest of the time he was getting trashed, broke, struggling to pay bills, questioning himself and his abilities, and so much more which fits in with an insecure teen. 3rd biologic

I have to agree with you. The origin should be dealt with in the first few minutes like in the last Hulk movie. The First Person pov works well to impress the teenagers who love 1st person shooters, but it does look silly to me. And it's on 3d...
