I live in Houston, but in the NW, I never have seen purple martins here, if I put one of these up there will they come or? Also did you build this house if so would love to see how you built it.
@jay733 we are in SE Houston; have had two houses up for several years, but had to take down one house due to plastic getting warped. We still average 4-5 Martin families each year and just saw the first few scouts soaring over the neighborhood. If you have time to build one, that's usually best; the alluminum house we bought seems very durable. Good luck!
I freakin love purple martins. I love to see them drink off the pond near my parent's house.

This house blew down during Ike. The Martins were safe in Brazil. I rebuilt bigger, taller, stronger and with an invisible pulley system.
