  • Thank you! Can't get enough. You found a piece I hadn't heard since a kid in the 70's from parents record collection, and never knew where to find later. My favorite always. We also had the (big fat) piano roll! Can't remember who played master copy.

  • One person is George Bridgetower.

  • incredible!

  • this violin sonata reminds me a lot of the Pathetique piano sonata. Both works are especially similar in their first movements.

  • Thank for uploading this version of the beautiful and intense Kreutzer - a great performance, indeed!

  • под влиянием музыки кажется, что я чувствую то, чего я, собственно, не чувствую,

что я понимаю то, чего не понимаю, что могу то, чего не могу.. (Толстой)

  • I love this piece of music! :D

  • No one else had a sound like him...

  • Love this version! Wow! Pleasantly surprised.

    Very crisp and clean!

  • Love this version! Wow! Pleasantly surprised.

  • Tolstoy's 'Kreutzer's Sonata' is an awesome read. This one is awesome to hear too!!

  • If it is form the set of Leonid Kogan 10 vol. recordings, one can be sure that the pianist is Grigory Ginzburg.

  • Kogan is the most macho violinist and Kreutzer Sonata the most macho violin work. Thanks! But who's the pianist? And do you know in which year it was recorded?

  • just sublim no more to say tnks for loading

  • do you have recording of Beethoven's sonata 1 op.12 D dur? Of course Kogan's perfomance

  • Superb. Thanks for uploading!

  • Hey youtube violinsts!

I'm a composer from Pittsburgh, PA. Check out a sample of my violin sonata and let me know what you think!

  • I adore the rythm!

  • IT IS WONDERFUL. BEETHOVEN VIOLIN SONATAS .

THANKS, MANY MANY THANKS FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY TO LISTEN THIS GREAT AND AND OTHER PERFOMANCES.........KOGAN ONE OF THEM,LIKE MINSTEIN , MENUHIN, OSTRAKH AND ANOTHER.........GENIUS OF VILOIN.

  • I have Perlman/Ashkenazy and Oistrakh/Oborin recodings. This is certainly very different and more palatable to my taste. I like that controlled aggressiveness that Kogan shows in all his performances. Beethoven violin sonatas are dominated by the piano. The accompanying artist (Gilels being the suspect) is certainly a par with Kogan. Thanks a million for the upload. A great opportunity to enjoy a great performance.

  • 1 person doesn't know how to play the violin.

  • Tolstoy brought me here

  • @epik78 haha..same here! and now I am grateful not only for his stirring novel, but also for leading me to this amazing piece...

  • @epik78

    Me too.

  • @epik78 hashish brought me here.

  • @epik78 hash brought me here.

  • @epik78 lol. has also taught me the commenting system on youtube :P

  • @epik78 Me too!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @epik78

Интересно, что бы написал Толстой под впечатлением от современной попсы...

PS Меня он же сюда привел.

  • @epik78 lol so true. haha

  • @epik78 how? Now I'm interested, Tolstoy linked with Beethoven...

  • @plagueofangels666 Tolstoy wrote a book with the title 'The Kreutzer Sonata' based somewhat on this piece :)

  • @epik78 me too :)

  • amazing!!

  • The Kreutzer is one of my favorite pieces of classic music with the exception of some Bach pieces ... So much passion lies in it touching almost blind rage. Simply great. It's pure Beethoven.

  • This is in print, on Brilliant Classics label.

  • The pianist is not Emils Gilels, it is Grigory Ginzburg.

  • Highest violin genius

  • i have listened to alot of recordings of everything from bach to prokfiev and everything I have listened to of Kogans is top notch almost the best of everything ive heard

  • @64f100bill

    I agree with you!

    poicpi

  • kogan=god of the right hand.perfect, quality and clean sound on all strings and in all positions.and the most stable and focused vibrato ever heard.

    .

  • I appreciate all the Russian performers due to the time in which they lived

  • It's a matter of different versions and just a question of which source to use.

  • The pianist, if I am not wrong, is the great Emils Gilels.

    Erial80

  • @erial80 It likely is Grigory Ginzburg.

  • Who is the pianist? He surely deserves some credit...

  • We should know the name of the pianist too.

  • Perfect!!! Big Kogan!

  • Kogan was a hero to classical music period.

  • truely masterfull playing - good comment by raanan17 re acerbic countenanace

  • Incredible playing. The beauty of his sound is in direct proportion to the occasional acerbic countenance.

  • Thanks..never heard this one! Really appreciate the upload!

  • Thank you!

  • bravoooooo!
