  • Yes" I had a 79 JMP 100 watt head and it was LOUD open and Grain. That amp was the most powerfull THUMPINGest" amp EVER!. 800 is just as you described".

  • That guitar is so fucking cool man.

Can't believe you get that kinda tone at that volume, my 2203 only starts to sound good at like 1, and thats fucking loud.

But I imagine you're using something to push the front end, I'm just going in with massively high output actives.

  • Sounds Great Man! Authentic!

  • good!!

  • Could I achieve that tone with a 1984 JCM 800 2203 (Vertical inputs!!!)

  • @Neylus Yes, they're the same amp other than the horizontal input version has its pots directly on a board, which doesn't affect tone.

  • Dude nice tone man. You really captured the essence and the soul of the JCM 800.

  • You can really hear how gay you sound through that amp.

  • That's a really nice tone, it reminds me slash tone a lot.

  • Is that a MkII I see on top? I have one and it's been modded, sounds just like a JCM...

  • You won the competition for playing the worlds ugliest guitar!

  • Thats one wierd looking Guitar! but Awsomee!!!!! :DD

  • Could this amp Deliver a neal schon type sound?

  • oh, my, god, why the fuck did you make this video?

  • what where your seting man

  • what is a gt75's?

  • can this amp play stuff like pantera, slipknot, and metallica???

  • Somewhere along the way this amp has been modded. You don't get that much gain or tone out of any stock JCM800 with the volume on 2. Just not possible, I've played many on them. Love the tone though! Sounds awesome!! Great amp you got there.

  • @hellboundTX333 yes you do. with proper tubing. YES you do

  • If you think 2 is too loud, my neighbors must really hate me. I play mine with the master on 7 and preamp on 7 or 8. That sounds great for 2, do you really have it on 2 for this vid?

  • Is there a difference in tone between the 2203 and the 2204? also vintage modern or jcm 800?

  • Very nice. I have an 87' coming this week.

  • thats one weird guitar.

  • Zijn de eerste serie jcm 800's niet gebasseerd op de JMP's? Dus als jij daar een oude jcm800 hebt staan, is dat praktisch een met het zelfde circuit dan je JMP of zie ik dat verkeerd?

  • @mukkezz the circuit I have is not one of the first jcm`s. Compared to my Jmp the sound of the 800 is very forward, energetic and dynamic. The Jmp on the otherhand is all about grain, tone, and openness.

    Hope this makes any sense.

Settings on the jcm are "bedroom" style dialed in: all on 6, but the mid and gain on 8.

Will upload the jmp soon, sorry for the delay ;-)

  • Oke tnx , learnt something again.

  • damn man thats pretty brown if you ask me

  • i have a jcm 800 2204 like this one, but it doesn't sound as good as this one, what are youe EQ settings, cause your tone kicks ass!

  • will be great :D

  • Is it 2203 or 2204?

  • This is the 2204 being played. I will make another vid of the 2203 to show the difference.

  • Is this with a boost?

  • This is without a boost, and the gain up to about 6.5. But the EMG`s have quite some gain.

    The pickups are EMG 81(s)

    Thanks for the comments btw!

  • Thanks man. I have a Les Paul Studio, pretty high output pups, so I think I will be fine. Once again, nice playing. TRUE TUBE TONE is the best. No pedals besides a wah and a noise gate. THANKS! :D

  • what is a good half stack for like under 1000 and also is the marshal mg half stack any good?

  • My advise would be to to listen to a few marshalls on youtube. There are allot of different sounding ones, but the general Marshall sound is always present.

I personaly like older ones better but hey, the new ones can kick ass also.

The jcm 800 can be a nice amp, but there are allot that sound not to good. Be aware.

A very good start would be a jcm 800, with a 4x12 cab (gt-75 speakers arent that bad really!)

Jcm 800`s have high resale value, and they can very very loud. ;-)

  • whats your opinion on the 2205?

  • @chloortablet thansk you verry much and i plan to buy a jcm 800 my friend has a version in his basement its not a half stack but i still love its sound and i might buy the head 1st then the cab or i might buy the ma head and cab ive heard good things about thoose

  • @xx55AC55xx Dude stay away from the marshall mg series altogether. All you need to do is listen to it and compare it to another preferably tube amp and you will know what i'm talking about. The MG half-stack is just and oversized stack form of a practise amp

  • @xx55AC55xx i think unless you play huge shows that a half stack is too much amp for most people. look for a 30w combo amp would be my advice. perfect for playing in a band mix.

  • That's without a boost?

  • Awesome man! That is a KICK ASS combination. Can the JCM 800 get me some good classic metal tones, ala early Metallica or Priest or Maiden? Thanks and KEEP ON ROCKING! B/c you are GOOD!

  • what pickups do you have on this baby?

  • The pickups are EMG`s. Type "60"

  • even the bridge? not an emg 81? :)

  • Indeed It was at least something into that direction Rockgoddan01.. Been 14 years since I had the guitar build, and back then...

I had no idea what the difference was between pickups. My critera back then: "if it looks good, must sound good"

  • If you play this any faster my brain will explode...
