  • Iv never had to move or operate as a 2 man team but have as a fire team(4 members) and a squade, Im not criticizing but asking a queston. When in the open like that I was always trained to keep as much dispersion as possable to still maitain commucation with other members of the team. Reason being if sombody throws a frag or fires a rpg, they only have the possabilty of harming one person. The more the teamis bunched up the greater chance to take both out. please explain y they r operating

  • @jnpiel so close togeather. Iv been out for 8 years got home in 03 from Iraq and just now have started training myself again so I seek knowldge im not criticzing

  • What kind of holster for his secondary is that? 02:35 Thanks. Cool Video.

  • this tactic is no go :(

  • Viking Tactics. So... you rape and pillage?

  • lame, dream on

  • That was badass.

  • they ruined a perfectly shitty car.

  • im part of the drug cartel i find this helpful

  • prob a dumb question but why turn the rifle sideways when firing behind the car

im guessing you want to keep a low profile but whats the difference really between canting your rifle or keeping your rifle rightward as long as the barrel is clearing the top of the car either way is fine right? or is there something im missing?

    thanks

  • @Gadsden556 all in the name of keeping a lower profile bud. Ideally you just want to just peek from behind cover to engage targets so that way when the targets shoot back they have a hard target to hit

  • @Gadsden556 One reason they turn it sideways is because when the gun is vertical at such close range the optic could point at the target, but the barrel is aimed at the car, which would result in the car being shot. If they aim it sideways, the optic would line up the barrel horizontally. Hope I could Help

  • ok who are you training and why do you need this training?

  • @NRAman123 LEOs? Private contractors? SWAT? SOF?

  • 1:52-1:55 reminds of that game, army of two

  • 0:47 -0:48 i thought that guy got shot for real.lol

  • Team VTAC: Certified Bad-Asses.

  • This is exactly the kind of course I need!

  • Christ these guy carry way to much stuff

  • Kyle, love your videos. Enlisting soon to be a Ranger. Going to become OD-A and really want to work to become SFOD-D. People like you really motivate me. So thanks :)

  • @gunsgalore762 do some research, pal. Don't enlist with such wildly unrealistic expectations, you'll only be let down.

  • @gunsgalore762 ..If you make it to a ranger battalion, and your senior leadership believe you can make green beret, they probably will do everything they can to make you stay, rangers don't like losing their best guys. But, i was never a ranger, so, i could be wrong.

  • Good stuff. Makes me question if military tactics are anything like this.

  • Shooting point blank through the windshield not the best idea

  • 2:26.... Handgun sweep of partner and camera man.. Otherwise, I dig your vids, outstanding

  • good to see shooter wearing combat gear but they need alot of work.not sure why they posted this without getting it right first

  • You americans are lucky, this could not be possible in Scandinavia

  • @Tomatomaten or anywhere in Europe... :(

  • This is a serious man doing serious business. An unlawful order is an unlawful order, and no military personel are obligated to follow as such. Soldiers are American citizens too.

  • Whom are you neutralizing? That's my question. Under Communist Obama, the order might be given to shoot Americans. Will you side with a Commie or the American people and FREEDOM?

  • Comment removed

  • @HiawathaMohawk when it comes down to it you side for yourself and family

  • @HiawathaMohawk paranoid idiot, that order will NEVER come

  • @SullyMediaProduction "Tyranny" will give that order, and most will fall in line.

  • Kyle is one of the best, just wish he would do another three gun match they have no equal!!

  • i guess course like this are only available for LEO and military personnel?

  • People give this video so much crap and offer there so called advice, how many of them get out there and train with there systems?

  • guys do yourselves a favour! high speed low drag. you are wearing more kit than a pathfinder, get rid of it.

  • u guys a effin bad ass

  • ultimate mall ninja training session

  • @kingofthe40oz what is a mall ninja? lol

  • @DracoC47

a person who has very little, if none at all, tactical training or experience, yet they go about acting as if they are a hardcore seasoned operator. im just joking though, i have no idea what these dudes credentials are.

  • @kingofthe40oz

SGM Lamb Is a retired Special Forces OD-D Sergeant Major.

  • @101327

well like i said in my old comment, i didnt know these guys credentials. now i know this guy is for real . thx for letting me know.

  • Way to close shooting,

  • Nice shooting, but these guys woulda been riddled with bullets!

  • the other guy was covering him. like the enemy was stupid enough to aim at him when the other guy was shooting at them

  • look at second 0:50, the rifle strap.

It is very important at this moment when you have bad guys shooting at you to pause and put thegun strap around your shoulder.

lololo, nice job but i dont want you to protect me, no way

  • Hope you guys so come to AZ next year! I'll be there for sure!

  • Are there plans to put the Street Fighter class on your schedule for next year? I really enjoyed the Carbine 1.5 class in Pelham and look forward to training with you again. Thanks, Stan.

  • @Decado1628 I don’t think we have a street fighter open class for the rest of the year. I am sure we will have something on the schedule for next year.

Classes like street fighter fill quickly so please keep checking out schedule on our web site.

    Kyle

  • 1:05 ...this is about the worst position you can get into when using a car as concealment. The trunk is mostly air, 9mm handgun will penetrate both quarter panels and still be lethal. Furthermore, incoming rounds can ricochet off the trunk lid into your neck and head. DEA NY Firearms dept has an informal study in PDF you can download for additional details.

  • mierda me han disparado!"!!

  • at 2:25 he covers his partner with his pistol muzzle...

  • Freeze the video at 1:35-1:37 and check out how small their silhouette's are. All while sending accurate semi-automatic fire towards the enemy. Bravo boys.

  • The guys LBE at 0:55 leaves his lower back extremely open to shrapnel or a round.... I know its impossible to get full protection, but I'm just pointing it out.

  • @Mcnasty6w Absolutely, if your bore can’t see them then neither can the bullet.

    Kyle

  • Good tactics but these guys are slow and lack agression

  • nice muzzle sweep

  • @sendHelpImonfire

You mean at 02:24 - 02:26? I've noticed that, too.

  • Just purchased the Viking Tactics off-set flashlight mount for my AR & love it. Definitely plan on getting to one of your classes within the next year. Great training & great videos. Keep up the good work!

  • @IMnotSAS We may someday but it will be awhile.

  • the guy that has to take cover behind the trunk might be SOL i would want to be the first guy and have a few cubic feet of iron in front of me...

  • Hey, that's my car !

  • Just read the article in Shooting times magazine about you and your company kyle. Awesome stuff. It would be awesome to attend your course before i leave to BUD/S. Keep up the good work

  • @sekytwo Just check out the schedule on our website and see when you can get in a class.

    Kyle

  • @VikingTactics

Will be making a dvd on street fighting? thanks

  • Fresh glass but not for long............

  • And the hole point of this is?

  • SGM. Lamb,

What is the point of shooting over the hood and the trunk of the vehicle that way, I understand for the lower sight picture, but wouldn't that just create a bigger risk of being shot in the head?

  • @stephenlikewhoa We actually use that position because it gives you a lower profile than being upright with the weapon if that is the question.

This works especially well if the target is at 50 plus yards. You are super low and can engage quickly.

    Kyle

  • @stephenlikewhoa I guess this kind of shooting is based on the premise that you are confronting someone with no training or is outgunned... But I fully agree in that if you "take fire" you have a higher chance of being shot trying to get down into cover when your weapon has to clear your cover rather when shoot off and away from cover and exposing enough of your barrel to clear your obstacle to make the shot allowing you faster reaction time to take cover if return fire is intiated.

  • @stephenlikewhoa because thats how solid snake does it.

  • @tactikoolaid They were just using regular ammo for that demo. Regular ammo will make it through, just not as reliably as the bonded.

    Kyle

  • so professional I love it

  • this looks really good. One of the most tactically sound videos I have seen. this is what our army and marines need to look like.

  • so they shoot at the lower end of the sheild close to the hood and the bullets hit near the head rest? just it shows the target in the car get hit higher than where thier bullets are comng throu the window that becuase the glass is angled?

  • @mrsuperterd you are correct and when shooting from inside the vehicle you do the reverse. Instead of aiming low you aim high.

  • @Timisso1337 so if your shooting throu flat glass say a window and it is level to your line of sight will it go straight throu. and say if you where shooting down on a flat peice of glass whould the bullet still be angled down when it pass throu the glass? ----> [ -----

  • @mrsuperterd Shooting through glass is going to screw the trajectory up no matter where you aim but for the short distances shown here a little bit of compensation can help put the bullets on target. If I had to shoot through a piece of glass that was parallel to me then I think I would just aim for point of impact and hope for the best. Im sure there are some people on here that know more about it than me, maybe they will chime in.

  • SGM. Lamb,

Do you see any AK 47 shooters coming to your courses, or is it primarily for the AR format ? Thanks.

    -Bryan

  • @BrokenTengu99 Normally more AR/M4 than anything. Occasionally an AK though.

    Kyle

  • @VikingTactics How do the AK operators perform?

  • i think we should send you guys out to hunt osama!

  • In my opinion, I prefer Magpul Dynamics, It just seems a bit more realistic

  • @AirsoftingSuccess Just the fact your handle says Airsofting Success, you have no idea of realism

  • @weedhopperqts I handle real weapons.... I own a stag arms left handed AR.. I play airsoft for fun with my friends. My AR has an eotech 552, surefire flashlight/foregrip, magpul moe stock/pistol grip, daniel defense free float rails, Just because my name is airsoft doesn't mean I don't know anything about real firearms

  • Isn't great how politicians have taken your freedom. Look at those weapons barrel has to be 16" or more has to be semi auto. Sounds to me like a regulated half ass second amendment. They bargain with eachother to give themselves more power while they take your freedom. Vote these bastards out!

  • I like this drill and all your products, are you going to attend the 2011 NRA convention?

I will travel all the way to get in touch with you Mr Kyle

  • @revistadearmas Not sure if we are going to the NRA Convention, where is it?

    Kyle

  • @VikingTactics

The NRA convention 2011 will be from April 29 to May 1

    Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

I didn't see your guys are registered

  • @revistadearmas Looks like we will be in Florida doing a class, maybe next year. Will be at the Shot Show though in Vegas in January.

    Kyle

  • Are these courses available to civilians as well as LEO?

  • @PDopey We do very few civilian courses but please check our schedule to see if we can get you enrolled.

    Kyle

  • nice drills guys....

  • Nice job fellas. Looks like another good time with weapons and learning.

  • ohh and i live in ny n you cant own a post ban 30 rd mag i was wonderin if u had ne pre ban mgs you want to selll

  • you guys are some dead eye hot shot cold blooded killers . and great vids id love to come down and learn . maby pick ur brain a little . most of al learn everything u have to offer .

  • Awesome

  • How does glass effect .223 caliber rounds.

  • @USpatriot741776 Glass is devastating to regular 5.56 ammo, that is why we try to employ bonded bullets for use on vehicles. Glass is also devastating to pistol bullets.

    Kyle

  • @VikingTactics thanks for that. Really appreciate your experience. Great job on Green Eyes/Black Rifles by the way.

  • @VikingTactics what do you mean by devastating. Are we talking dramatic decreases in range/kinetic energy or just accuracy?

  • @7t77777 The bullets are normally torn to pieces unless it is a bonded bullet. The issue is you just never know. You may shoot a target from 3 yards away and not hit it at all, that is what I mean by devastating.

    Kyle

  • @VikingTactics Is it a problem with the M855 aswell? sorry for the noob question. :P

  • @omegaboostZ Yes sir M855 comes apart too.

  • @USpatriot741776 as far as i know when your shooting throu glass your poi is high. so you aim low. if your aiming down on somthing you aim low. if your aim up then you aim high.

  • @mrsuperterd Vehicles have more than one angle to deal with so it is a little harder to give an exact location as to where the bullet will impact.

    Kyle

  • @mrsuperterd o yea true. it's just a rule of thumb i use when hunting i don't know all this tactical stuff as am from canada and we don't get to do stuff like this only with wreck cars in the back forty it's just my little and mean little bit of experince with shooting at cars with the .303 thru the front sheild it hit high at the back roof just above the back sheild but it still could have been climbing eh? not to sure. but i guess 4 inchs high? giver take with iron sights maybe 2" my error.

  • @mrsuperterd you aim a little low when shooting both an up angle and and a down angle. just saying

  • I do have a quick question, what is consider a good quick efficient reload time? The two guys at the end they were putting magazines back int their dumpbag. Would it not have been tactically smarter to just let the mag fall on the floor? Thanks for the video.

  • @x85010 Depends on the weapon. A good reload with the pistol is under 1 second from shot to shot, but that is VERY Quick.. An efficient reload would be in the 1.25-1.5 time frame with the pistol. Rifle will be slightly slower.

I think it is a good idea to drop the magazine in the pouch if someone is covering you. If not you are absolutely correct, drop the mag get reloaded then recover the magazine...

    Thanks

    Kyle

  • Im currently stationed at Ft. Campbell KY, and training there is good, I pretty much have carte blanche to train my guys how I want (within reason ie Battle Drills). The only two things that they are pretty stubborn about are the fighting stances for CQM/CQB and how our kit is set up. Any valid tips/arguments that I can bring up with my chain of command? Thanks for any responses, your videos are great training aids. CPL C. 11B BTL

  • @fwa11b CPL C, we have an article coming out about Fighting Stances in the next issue of Guns and Ammo Book of the AR15. It should be on news stands in the next few weeks.

The bad guy doesnt know and cant see the difference in your stance, so why not use your best possible shooting and fighting stance.

    Hope this helps.

    Kyle

  • Nice Practical training, Is the shooters backpack is using 5.11 or custom made!

  • When they emerge from their vehicle and move behind the other vehicle, their attack positioning seems to be not as good as it could be. They are huddling up next to the car and leaning over the hood/trunk, which inhibits their ability to quickly maneuver themselves into a cover position upon returned fire. If they were to take a step back it would allow them to quickly rise, engage, then drop back into concealment again and not have to worry about moving their weapon out of ready position.

  • @Lordoctomonkey Very good points - although much depends on the range of the engagement. At very close range, I agree with your assessment. When engaging at more extended distances, however, accuracy becomes a much more critical factor in winning a gunfight. So...at close range, sacrificing stability for cover/concealment is probably the right call. At longer ranges, accuracy is going to be a key element in winning the fight.

    Thanks for the great comments.

    Kyle

  • @VikingTactics

is this going to be made available on dvd? thanks

  • @IMnotSAS We have a couple DVDs hitting the market shortly, but the streetfighter DVD is not one of them. Hopefully we will get that one out soon though.

    Kyle

  • @VikingTactics

Look forward to it, especially the street fighting one, any kind of time frame?

  • truly awesome.

  • This is bad-ASS !

  • Awesome vid. I love these kinds of small-unit tactic exercises. In this day and age, training in the proper way of engaging a target while in a vehicle, and dismounting and taking the fight to the enemy seems to be vital. Great stuff, and I second that, BSMARS.

  • Raven

Cover and Concealment. There are a few places that are almost bulletproof, the engine is one. Other than that we are relying on concealment, which may not stop bullets but may allow the shooter to engage the threat before they are seen.

We have seen several doors STOP bullets, so you must have Lady Luck on your side. Use what is available and aggressively eliminate the threat.

  • What a fantastic online communications model you guys have. It's amazing to see the head of a company thoughtfully responding to comments made by people. That puts Viking Tactics a step up in my book!

  • It's great marketing and good PR for VTAC.

  • 0:47 i was likeoh shit hes hit!" but then i remembered oh right, their just practicing. he moves back right when the other guy shoots

  • Great Videos. Keep em coming!

  • WOW Great video, camera work &post production. One safety issue for TRAINING I would add, besides obvious eye protection & ear protection issues. If firing through glass, when possible, take a deep breath, hold it make shots through glass( you won't be able to see for long anyway) and move ASAP. Avoid breathing in the glass particles if at all possible. For TRAINING the use of a simple dust mask or respirator may be a good idea. Silica & glass fragments can cause SERIOUS lung heath problems

  • Sbd

You bring up some very good points. We do try to limit students exposure to the glass as much as possible. Normally the drills entail shooting and quickly getting out of the vehicle to limit exposure.

    Glad you like the videos.

    Kyle

  • these asre very unusual shooting techniques, definitly would suprise anyone fighting against you

  • Why is it better to engage the adversaries through the windscreen rather than exit the vehicle and do so from behind the bonnet or boot?

  • We teach this technique to prove a couple points. 1. You can shoot through the windshield. 2. It is difficult to shoot through glass. 3. Sometimes situations dictate your actions. You may not be able to get out of the vehicle in an ambush.

    Hope this helps

    Kyle

  • @Army8987

Thanks for the comment. If the vehicle runs, definitely use it as a weapon. If it doesnt, for example at a check point, there may need to be more options.

We teach the students to shoot through windows because: 1. They may have not done that before and 2. We try to break bad habits of trying to get the perfect position to shoot from; if there is a threat, eliminate it immediately.

    (continued...)

  • We teach the students to get as low as possible. If they conduct the technique correctly, there wont be a problem. If they dont and they hit the vehicle the round will either go up or down, we have shot almost 1,000 vehicles, these techniques work very well and have saved lives here and abroad.

Our goal remains to get military and LE to think outside of the normal flat range mentality.

    Thanks for your service.

    Kyle

  • @Army8987 Please research who you are talking to before spouting off your "Army" training. I'd bet my life that you don't have nearly as much "Army" training as Kyle has in real world COMBAT experience.

  • @Army8987 Just because you where taught basic combat skills in the army does not mean you are fit to give advice. This is a common misconception among those that join the armed forces. The ones that realize that they dont have to give advice to a top notch instructor are the ones I'd want fighting next to me, not the ones spouting: "In the army I was taught (insert tactic)" Need I remind you that before and even during OIF we where still teaching to shoot sideways exposing your unprotected side?

  • @Dman40475 I agree with you on the points you make. Basic combat skills is just that Basic. But that is a big negative on the last comment. Army stopped teaching sideways shooting and fox hole shooting for a long while now. That is no longer taught, and i'm speaking from when the army was still using BDU's, before transitioning over to the ACU's. (Long time ago) On another note, Great stuff here, V-Tactics!

  • @Dman40475

What qualifies you? The Army teaches (well now anyway) certain tactics because they are deemed necessary and effective. Guys have been coming back from combat and incorporating lessons learned. So yeah, Army training (well for combat arms anyway) does qualify someone to give advice, to a point at least. Our soldiers wouldn't winning firefights in Iraq and Afghanistan if the training didn't have a least some merit.

  • @Dman40475

Just because someone is a top notch instructor doesn't mean they know everything or can't be wrong (especially considering many top instructors disagree on certain things). If a guy is told by his unit or something to do things differently then some top instructor then they need to do what their unit tells them.

Example, I love of Kyle's material, I'm sure it all works. Won't use some of it tho because my NCO's (who have all been in serious combat) want some things done differe

  • The best medicine is fire superiority. Keep up the good work.

  • That looks like an awesome class.

  • What is your backround and those of your other instructors?

  • Great vids. Please keep them coming. I like the actual firearm training to fight. Simply plinking targets gets boring and is somewhat impractical to what a person is likely to encounter. Stress and real life obstacles and real world circumstances need to be there. Thanks again for these vids.

  • I wanna take a Lamb class so bad. You doing anything at Southern Exposure soon?

  • Looks like we will be at Southern Exposure next year.

    -Kyle

  • Wat is exactly a Lamb class? kinda like a beginners class? and where exactly is southern exposure? sorry bout all the questions kinda new to the game.lol

  • Excellent materials as always Mr. Lamb. Hopefully we'll see you in 2010 in NC.

  • great range drills!

  • VTAC, if there is any better out there, I have yet to see it.

  • thats an awesome tactic at 1:27. you know he is accuratly shooting cause you can hear the steals clinking. but keeping as low profile as possible. friggin awesome :)

  • Let me preface this by saying, this is A way, not necessarily THE way.

During the VTAC Street Fighter class the positions used behind vehicles were demonstrated while the class observed from down range. If done properly, they present a very small target while still allowing you to fight. That, along with the penetration demonstration and references to real world examples, gave me the utmost confidence that these positions are viable options if one encounters a situation around vehicles.

  • Great drill! I wish I had cars to incorporate into my training.

  • You can simulate one with some folding chairs, cardboard and a little creativity. It's not perfect, but than is static 2 dimensional targets really that realistic either? I seriously doubt real people would just stand in front of a car and let you shoot them, they will go prone or run for cover or concealment ASAP.

  • Great points - we all need to be creative in our training.

Our goal with drills like this is to get folks to think more realistically on the range. We try to add more targets so movement is needed to eliminate more threats. Drills like this can often be conducted with SIMS or other training systems that allow for more realistic scenarios but, in the end, it's important to ensure folks have the opportunity to employ their actual weapons and ammo as well.

    Hope you like the video.

    Kyle

  • Now is see what the cash for clunkers was all about !!!! LOL

  • Looks like a great drill. Two questions,

1: At 1:30 the operator is using the vehicle as cover, shouldn't he back off of the vehicle as bullets of a habit of skipping on the hoods?

2: At 2:27 threats are eliminated and 1 operator has his main up and eyes on. Why doesn't the second operator with his secondary out get his main up right away, why wait to clear around the car if op 1 has him covered?

  • Excellent, excellent drill. Any chance we could see a video of the entire drill from start to finish in one continuous shot?

Btw, this should be called the HEAT drill. :)

  • That was amazing! I'd love to see more footage of this--any chance we could see the entire drill in a continuous shot?

  • That rocked !!!

  • Looks like fun. Even the fat ones can join in.

  • Wow that was awesome.

  • where is this range i know is nc but city?

  • It appears this drill is simulating a two-way range situation? After transitioning positions (moving), shouldn't the first and foremost action be finding and taking cover? If so, does that apply to those melons at around :59 and 1:07?

  • Excellent teamwork, but yeah, as ZippyGaloo said, I would like to see the shooters further back and lower behind the vehicles to protect those melons!!! I put alot of merit in Paul Howe's theories on "The Myth of Cover" check his site for more info.

  • They are taking cover however; they are not there to hide. They are there to stop the fight as quickly as possible. VTAC teaches very aggressive gun fighting techniques and tactics that have been proven somewhere in the world. The two shooters in the video have an immeasurable amount of experience on the two way range so they know what works and what will get someone killed. I have seen in person and performed all of these techniques that are demonstrated in this video and they work.

  • Amazing Work Gentlemen

  • Keep up the amazing work gentlemen. Well Trained operators = Sucess
