  • good job doc....ay gotta question: in the original recording is there any modulating between keys ex. eb to ab, c to db, etc..?

  • @JT3AI As far as I know, there's no modulation in the original version.

  • Thanks, all of you, for your wonderful words of encouragement. I never thought when I posted this in Oct., '07, that it would receive such reviews, but God knows what he was doing. I did this for a focus group project, and God got the Glory...I'm thrilled!!! God Bless Y'all... :-D

  • Sorry...I take forever in reading YouTube messages of my own, mainly because I'm too busy posting messages on EVERYONE ELSE'S clips. Didn't want your request to go unanswered.

I was just "fooling around" to start out, but as I'm listening to it now, the intro chords were:

  • I've watched this several times on several differents days and it blesses me each time! I read the comments to this vid and your responses. Your humility in what God has given you blessed me as much as this ministry in song. God will continue to use you and bless you in whatever you do with that kind of "Jesus" working in you. Continue on in the Lord!

  • Wow...I truly appreciate your words. Amazing how we as humans can think that doing something like this has one purpose, and God has a completely different purpose for it (Isa 55:7-9).

I just Thank God that the spirit behind it was seen by most who have viewed & commented. That says a lot about you the viewer, much more than it says about me.

With all the financial struggles I experience, these messages ke ep me "stubborn toward success." ;-) Love Ya; Lord Bless Ya REAL Good!

  • good good good

  • you killed it homie. well done. i heard different chords in the middle. you gotta show me what you were hittin, it sounded nice.

  • I switched from the original key (Eb maj.) to F# maj. on the word "carpenter" by walking up the 2-3-4-5 chords in F# maj (that's Ab min. - Bb. min - B maj. - C# sus.).

Thanks for the words of encouragement; I really appreciate them.

  • I really appreciate this. You people with these compliments, I swear...I almost wish I had've tried to do an entire song (then again, it was natural...so, "trying" would've ruined God's move). ;-) Thank You again, lildair!!!

  • Thanks for the compliments; I really appreciate that. :)

  • Wow...that's some compliment, Brotha. I really appreciate what you said; I DO NOT consider myself a "soloist" at all, and I made the clip as part of a focus group requirement, but whatever is in me will come out...and, every once in a while, it'll make me, you, and others happy (and I Bless God for that!).

Haven't really had the desire to put anything else up, 'cause I believe that, musically, I'm much better when I'm flowing as opposed to when I plan it. But, I'll definitely keep ya posted.

  • Wow... brings tears dude! Keep singing and ministering! LIVING (LIFE) Word!

  • This is a great video. I am a self taught piano player. I never took any lessons but my goal is to get as good as you. Continue to allow God to use you in his way. God bless you brother and continue to use your blessings to be a blessing to others. Take care. (Check out my version of this song).

  • Great usage of inversions. Love this song. Keep it up!

  • not long enough, but I liked it!

  • Bro praise God. I am trying to learn gospel guitar playing. Can you help me with a Chord Progression of this song. good job... Singing is about expressing what you feel and you did just that.

  • God Bless Ya, Austin. I appreciate the generous comments you gave; means a lot, and will probably lead me to expressing myself more through this medium.

"You Are The Living Word" is simple in nature: Eb maj., Ab6 (that is, 1st inversion), Bb6. Not sure how you personally decipher chords, so I'll just say for saying's sake that, whenever I write a cord w/ a "6," I'm just indicating that the 3rd of me the chord be used as your base (or bottom) note...so, the equivalent of writing Ab/C, etc.

  • But isn't Ab6 = Ab C Eb F?

  • Sorry for the confustion...because you can't type in superscripts, you can't really "type what you mean" in a box like this. You're right...when a chord is written "Ab6," it would denote the addition of "F" to the root chord. What I actually meant was the superscripted "6" you write (like an exponent), which denotes an inversion of a chord. Thanks for making that distinction; one band...one sound! Bless Ya!

  • i like that chord progression. thats nice

  • This rendition is sick to the max! I love the way you hands and fingers make it look so easy to play! I got our church pianist to try and play like this now...LOL...God Bless you and may the Lord keep using you!

  • That was awesome! may God bless you. I love that song!!

  • Mon-C-Ah!!!

  • Yessaah!!!!

  • Man...the response to this lil' clip is ridiculous to me. I'm SO not a singer, and I had never posted anything before 10/12/07. I was participating in a focus group (for compensation), and the only remaining assignment was to post clips of yourself on YouTube, so I did this in a rush (still got my coat on, and my car was running...hence, the "Peace" sign when I was done!)

Thanks for evening responding to what I sent. I pray all is well for you down on your end of Interstate 55. God Bless!

  • Excellent reharmonizations bro. Keep doing what you're doing.

  • simply amazing... May God continue to bless you.

  • That was beautiful Doc!

I appreciate your compliment, ESPECIALLY since I watched your instructional clip on the same song (RIDICULOUS!) Bless Ya!

  • Well....at any rate you did a fantastic job bruh.

The playing was great. The singing was heart felt. Bless God for your gifts.

Thank yu for watching one of my videos.

    Stay Blessed!!!

  • This is my favorite song. The Church I attend was singing this song when I gave my life to God. Trying to hold back the tears listening to it. Bruh stay as humble as your are and I truly believe God has something great for you.

  • man i need u 2 sho me those chords

  • Sup, Bro. James...first of all, I appreciate the response to the video. I honestly was doing that as an assignment for a focus group I was participating in, and a church member got a hold of it and DEMANDED it go online, so here it is.

Man, any chord I played is yours. I went "off the cuff," but if you tell me exactly what ya want, I'll spell it out for ya.

(Basic overview: I'm in Eb maj. until 00:38, when I switch to F# maj., until I switch back to Eb maj. at 00:52).

    God Bless!!!

  • Bro......I'm diggin this man...this is my favorite song....I loved what you did from 00:38 to 00:44....bro...that change was so nice man....it fit so nice...keep doing your thing man....God Bless

  • That was beautiful...and you did awesomw on the manger born part

  • you wrecked that "manger born" part

  • keep da spirit up bro.

  • Cool, man... I'll be looking out for more videos from you.

I have a few videos that I put together, too.

Maybe you can check them out.

    Take care and God bless,

    Rudy

  • I have to add that "Manger born..." at 1:19 just killed me.

  • Phattening.

    God bless you bro...

    Rudy

  • Wow...Thanks, Bro. Rudy. I posted it because I had to (as part of a focus group project assignment), but your encouragement means a lot. I love God enough to post something else, and now maybe I will. ;-) Be Blessed...ALWAYS.
