  • @warofthewalruses Yes, although I no longer breed this particular strain. I could never obtain a pure bronze guppy. A pale yellow color kept creeping into the fins.

  • @TWhite2345

The guppy in the background is a half black red female, derived from a line of half black blue guppies. Both the males and females of this line had tails with large circular spots.

  • how big is your tank, and how many guppies do you have? thanks!

  • @zakky140994

The tank here is just 10 gallons. I use it for birthing and also as a holding tank for my best females.

  • how big is your tank, and how many guppies do you have? thanks!

  • You have to edit your details so we know what song that is.

  • Haha how many prego guppies did u put in 1 breeder thing? :P

  • hi. Just 1 pregnant guppy per breeder at any given time.

  • hey there can any one help, i got a pregnant guppy . the slut yellow sunrise and im not sure who the father is. i have not got a breeder trap. but my tank is decked out with heaps of plastic grass and caves will the young bloods be safe from harm? please reply ASAP i think she is about to pop.

  • @sprayprayanddie

hi, if you want to save all the babies, you need a trap. If the fry have places to hide, a lot of them will survive, but some will be eaten. It is possible all the babies *could* be eaten though. :/

  • @raidenfanign thank you kindly for your quick reply

  • @sprayprayanddie I got some prego mollies and guppies. My tank similarly has lots of hiding places. They had babies, I ordered the breeder tank, it took a week to come in. I have 3 mollies frys and 1 guppy left now safe in a nursery :) but I guess I lost several... we counted 7 or so mollies one night. We witnessed a guppy female eat one in front of our eyes! But, in the past I had a regular tank which eventually filled up with over 200 guppies with no protection from their parents.

  • Does the female guppy die after birth???? And do other fish ever eat the newborn guppys?????

  • @jazzyxxkaykay

hi. Typically, females do not die after birth... and yes, the fry are often eaten by other fish if they have no where to hide. Sometimes, if the female is stressed or sick or malnourished during labor, she *can* die... but it doesn't happen often.

  • @jazzyxxkaykay Not always, and yes.

  • @SmittyKat If the other fish eat the newborns where should i keep them???

  • @jazzyxxkaykay I have a 10 gallon tank specifically for fry. I let the female give birth in my breeder net, and then when she's done I transfer the net to the fry tank and let the babies out into it.

  • I think u have about 10 more pregnant fish in your tank( I cam see them in the background)

  • how do you know when to put a guppy in a breeder trap, for it to give birth?

  • I've never gotten to see mine give birth >.< I was never home when they did!

  • hello

i have 5 female guppies that i think are pregnant. 1 is very small female but has grave spot and looks very square like. do i move her or leave her alone. also have another one that has a very dark grave spot but hasnt squared of yet do move them or leave them alone please help if u can

    thanks

  • lol! whats the music!!! plz i wanna know!!

  • omg epic music lol!

  • how do u make your guppies mate? when i get them from the store, theyre usually pregnant and give birth in my tank but they never breed in my tank after that. why does this happen? i also find the female fish in my tank dont last long. the males are all alive but its just the females that dissapear :(

  • @smileexpert1

hi. I normally have the opposite problem. Male guppies, in my experience, develop fin rot or swim bladder problems and/or die long before the females. In your case, I'd suggest taking the babies, growing them out, then using those females to breed whatever male characteristics you desire. I've kept up to 40 females in a 10 gallon tank without any problems, so long as they are bred and raised together. Introducing new females to each other usually doesn't go well. They are picky

  • @smileexpert1 If you have too many males harassing females, the females are likely to stress and die, most experienced guppy keepers say to have at least 3 females to 1 male otherwise the males will smother the females with love.

  • @smileexpert1, really? i find that the males disapear.

  • does any of u use ur guppies to feed ur fish?

    i do lol.

  • i have a 5 foot tank that my feeder gupies share with two yabbies and now 6 loaches and a small 4 cm catfish, should i move my pregnant female into a foot breeding tank? the think is im my opion there are less hiding places, but i could just remove the female and do i have to be aware of other gupies eating the fry?

  • my guppy has a grival spot behind her stomach but it looks like its being pushed under it and i had her for a weak now and she isnt geting bigger...what do i do?(i bought her from petsmart and when i got home i looked up how to tell if you guppy is pregnent and from how it looks she is)...help

  • i have one of these breeding traps but i had to get a new one bacause the fry could fit through the sides!

  • will the mom eat the babies right away( like right when they come out?) or does she wait till they are all out then eat them ?

  • @SuperLuvable201

in my experience, no...not right away, although there have been exceptions. I've found that while she is in labor or giving birth, she tends to lose her appetite and the babies are safe. When she is finished having babies, however, her appetite soon returns, (within minutes) and as a result the babies will be in danger. You do not have to use a breeding trap, just a tank with many hiding places for the fry.

  • How do u know when to put her in the breeder?

  • @AngeloTime

Most female guppies will become big and round as they come closer to giving birth. During the final week, you will notice her "rounded" belly will taking on a more square shape. When this happens, she is within days of giving birth. Her gravid spot will become very large and/or very dark. Within hours of giving birth, you can even see the birth canal begin to lower. I usually place her in the trap before the birth canal drops and after she takes on a square shaped belly.

  • You have some beautiful guppies there - nice quality vid mate.

  • @notyetlaughing

    thank you :)

  • do you have to use a breeding trap ????

  • @Anj1995 No, you can use a different tank. I use a 2.5 gallon tank and i made a trap on the bottom for the babies. (having no idea how i ever made a trap ) and the females usually give birth a little sooner when they're in a bigger tank with privacy. (i tested it lol)

  • Dose the female eat her babies when they first pop out? PLEASE REPLY SOON:) thanks

  • @YourFanForLife23

yes, most of the time the female will eat her babies. Just make sure the fry have hiding places in your tank or you should use a breeding trap.

  • Epic song!:p

  • Lol!

    Avatar Song.

  • Why ve crap is she in a bok wit hole?

  • HI, I need somebody tell me when i have to separate my guppy from other fishes, i think she is about 2 weeks having black ass and big stomach?please some one answer,,,,,,thank you

  • at what stage do i put her into the breeding cage/trap thingy ??

  • @AiDzBuRGeR

Female guppies will become territorial when they are about to give birth. She will hang out by the filter or heater and sometimes nip and chase at other fish that wander too close.

Her belly will shift from round to somewhat square a few days before the birth. This is when you should use the breeding trap. Within hours of delivery, you can actually see the birth canal drop as she becomes dilated. Keep her in the trap no more than 24 hours at a time. Avoid stressing her.

  • ayye so all u do is jus leave them in tank till the female have the gravid spot then put her to those breeder tank then she gives birth right?? if not then message me some tips :)))

  • I have a few baby guppies and the biggest one is still pink?

  • My pregnant guppy is in a tank with other species of fishes...she is likely to give birth anytime...Should i separate her in another tank? will water temperature change effect?

  • @safa93

well, that depends on the other species of fish. What are they? If there are hiding places for the fry, it is not necessary to change tanks, but if the female is ready to give birth, any change in water conditions *may* result in negative consequences. Moving her to a warmer tank is preferable to a cooler tank, but maintaining the same water conditions is optimal here.

  • wow als ik die andere guppies in je bak zie dan wordt ik jaloers ! zoveel zwangere!

  • Name of the song please? Also, my fish died giving birth :(

  • how can you tell exactly when they are iin labor? like are they only pregnant for a certain amount of time? and do ii put the pregnant fiish nd the babiies iin seperate tank?

  • @32310alysiandjeren

The females will develop a dark "gravid" spot, underneath, near the anal fin which will grow in size as the female enlarges due to pregnancy. The dark spot is the baby fish growing inside her. Once inseminated, females can retain sperm for months and usually have babies approx. every 30 days. It is wise to separate the pregnant fish and the fry, otherwise the mother will eat her young. Keep the young separated from larger fish until they have grown too large to be eaten.

  • How much are guppies???

  • Oooouhhh looks painful :)

  • Congrats! How many did she have?

  • @ammarnek

not many, just 18 fry. It was a hard labor and so i was surprised she didn't have more. Sadly, I no longer have this particular strain of guppy. The fry grew and the males were a sharp bronze color. They were all sold to a local fish store. I simply didn't have the room to keep them. :(

  • @raidenfanign forgive me for butting in but i'm getting my first guppies on friday and i was wondering did she get pregnant again do u need to separate the male and female?

  • @themousemaster

    Hi.

    yes.

    :)
