  • "Yea i don't care you understand?" ...pause...*earthquake hits* lololol :P

  • even on a video, that deep rumble at just before 4 seconds scares me!

also, the noise of everything rattling at the same time is unmistakable.

  • Didn't know they liked Glengarry Glen Ross in New Zealand. How dare that aftershock interrupt one of the great movies of all time.

  • @JD55000 hah bet you regret saying that now

  • my dears friends we will be there soon to help...we will be coming with Mike...take care and God Bless until then !!!!

  • OMG at the beggining of the video I was thinking to myself"Oh gosh it the television gonna hit hit the guy?!"

  • Man, you Kiwis REALLY know how to capture an EQ on video! The camera is set up and rolling when the shaking starts, and shows a scene with something in it that allows the viewer to get a very accurate sense of the shaking! You would think we in California (especially in Los Angeles!) would know how to make a fucking movie! All you get in EQ videos from here in LA are a bunch of fat Mexicans running around screaming, while shaking the hell out of the video camera.

  • We had a 4.8 yesterday night! I was sitting at the computer, then the damn shelf beside me nearly crushed my laptop!!! I was like NOOOO! And I bet a thousand guys were probably sitting at home and running to the fridge going "NOOOO THE BEER!!! SAVE THE BEER!!" They probably didn't do that in the 6.3 or 7.1, they would of had a mental breakdown instead...

  • Good video, but, I don`t know if it's right to say this after all the sad events there. Be safe, because you live in a very active zone, seismically. Take care!

  • Why were you filming at that point in time?

  • @mbrown187 because we had 34 x 4.0-4.9 and 4 x 5.0 or bigger on the 4th so decided I would capture some of them and had almost a continuos recording running.

  • Whats it like? =S ive never been in 1 and TBH never want to be, must be freaky as hell >.<

  • The rattling is the earthquake coming how the hell is it FAKE you ignorant sicko, I wish you could be a bit sober when you comment . Man even a dog and a chicken can senseit coming by now.

  • At 0:04 you hear it coming. Cool.

  • @same270 LMAO... Have another look how do I get the curtains and plant swinging and moving when they are connected to the house... I suppose someone was outsided rocking the house. Next time make sure of your comments before showing your true intellect.

  • @202ToranaMan Don't mind him, man...just an idiot not worth your time. Best of luck to you all in Christchurch.

  • @same270 watch closely the curtins moved pictures moved camera moved and picture frame moved its not fake dickhead and i saw that before he touched the camera

  • @same270 you cannot fake the eerie sound of an aftershock.

  • thats so cool i like it

  • whoa this is freaky... i just looked up glen gary glen ross for that exact scene.

  • I have uploaded Februeary 22 2011, plz search J9zN8zpS698

  • @ImagesByDavid You must rally wow people with predictions considering you posted this on the 23rd of February..... LMFAO

  • Comment removed

  • @ImagesByDavid Another wannabe who thinks he can predict things but it wasn't even close.

I think these people who do this are mentally retarded and of course they only try and quote the correct ones not all the other bogus ones.... Anyone with a half a brain could do it but they usually bet on horses which is where this person should stay.

  • Comment removed

  • @ImagesByDavid LMAO... you are trying to be a comedian but are a bit deluded although you have just confirmed my first comment, a wannabe with half a brain. Go away and find a prediction and post it before it happens!

  • @202ToranaMan i think he copy pasted that from facebook, i guess to prove that someones predictions are real? who knows.

  • cool video..nice to watch thanks

  • what were you going to take a video if the aftershock didn't happen?

  • nah theres nothing to be scared of,they wont get stronger and there rapidly declining now..i enjoy the aftershocks thou, they are very fun..u just need to stay calm and know they wont be any bigger then 5.5

  • @TheRonsta097 yeah a big one just happened

  • @TheRonsta097 u cant really say that man we are at mother natures mercy we cant change or predict what or how strong earth qaukes can get

  • You looks like John Key

  • It seems that maybe people should ignore the nasty comments (I know it's not easy) and show support to the people who only have nice things to say about this experience. I'm from CHCH and have lived here all my life and even now, nearly 5 months on the aftershocks still unnerve me when we do get them.

  • <3 :(

  • Lucky bugger, u got that on camera!!! I nearly got the 4.9 on boxing day on camera, but those things are so damn fast!

  • We arent getting nearly as many now here in ChCh, but i dont even flinch for aftershocks now ive become that used to them

  • in that one my mum held onto our new plasma tv

  • Hey People,

I reckon if we just start ignoring this twat as it seems to me he, she, or it is relishing in our anger, and it's feeding his nasty fire, maybe we should be grateful to this loser and appreciate the reality of bullshitters in our world !

  • U go Ms Bendyl ya ya haha !!! Ms Bendyl Rocks!!!

  • And JD5500

You don't know the half of it we are fucking thankful fuck u very much

  • JD55000

Shut the fuck up and keep your crap to yourself

  • Comment removed

  • It is so like that!!! After 2000+ aftershocks I just stand there like that gentleman and then get on with the buizzo, kind of like oh yeah, hello aftershock, right wheres my cuppa tea (if it's still upright) still get bumpy feeling in the stomach when they happen though

  • noones ignorant 202toranamanyour the ignorant 1 why worry about the rest of the world when the same shits going on right outside your own door. I was scared for my kids at the time, i wasnt worried about the fact that so many people died in haitis because of a shocking building practise. If you want to save the world go ahead and give your dollar a day to haitis, in the mean time we'll deal with our mess and vent abit o.k.

  • that is a wicked vid of an aftershock, sad how you stand back and sigh, you look so sick of them! (and for obvious reasons)...(((HUGS))) to all that have been affected. I live in CHCH also but like them.....i know...odd.

  • @stopbeingnasty i wish i could just stand back and sigh. i wish they would just end

  • @stopbeingnasty Yes, I was sick of them by this time, we had been getting them so frequent you couldn't get more than a couple of hours sleep at once, never knowing if the next one would be similar to the first. Then realise it isn't increasing and the house and family were safe once more. After a while I felt safe in our house as it had withstood 100's and 100's of aftershocks while other buildings suffered. NZ is a great place to live in times like this, kind people who help each other!

  • Now my dad has just got a caravan so we can just drive away if our house collapses. My dad's friend was in this building when the actual earthquake happened, it was a big warehouse, and he tried to get out, but all the doors had automatically locked so he had to smash his way out. Then when he got home to his wife and kids, he found his house completely gone, and his family weren't there....

Luckily it was just a neighbour who had taken them and looked after them.

  • FAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @JD55000 If you think you are a fake you don't need to announce it here to everyone :D

Have another look and you can see things in background move and have a look at the other videos before commenting.

  • Comment removed

  • @JD55000 You can not fake the eerie sound which now accompanies each aftershock...the sound of every beam in your house shuddering as its flung from side to side...things don't need to be falling over and creating a mess for it to be real...I live in ChCh and have been here everyday since the 7.1 I can tell you this video is not faked.

  • @TheHayz1982 Exactly, I could show pictures I have of the broken piles in my house as this old girl was sitting on them unsecured and verticle bouncing has cracked and broken 9 concrete piles and some other minor structural damage :(

I am just waiting like everyone else for an assessor to arrive but I feel my family is one of the lucky ones as we are still living in our home. 90-100 years old and she is taking a beating but fighting

  • @JD55000 You sum up your attitude very well in yoiur first statement in your reply. You don't care about anything except your little world. Now you are trying to shift to a completely different subject. You said "Fake" you are wrong and are not big enough to admit you are wrong. I find you just another web hero hiding behind an internet connection who made a statement that was wrong and now has lost the rag completely. I feel sorry for you. I have never asked for anything, ur wrong again!

  • @202ToranaMan

    really?a web-hero?

    I'm 17,i go to school.

  • @202ToranaMan omg u have video from the new earthquake?

  • @JohnPlayer4ever PLZ search J9zN8zpS698

  • @JD55000

i don't expect you have ever been in an earthquake of any significance? think before you say something like that! its terrifying. think how you would cope if your house was too damaged for you to even enter to regain possessions? i don't suppose you really give a toss about the people in haiti either? all good you just keep making your widespread assumptions from your computer in you own little world.

  • @JD55000 Read the caption you idiot. Its an aftershock!!!

Arrogant 17yr olds like you make me sick. Do we need to see thousands of people made homeless and die for the rest of the world to take notice? Unlike Haiti WE know how to build to keep our populace safe from large earthquakes. and just because we haven't lost a life it doesn't make it any less important than Haiti. We haven't asked for your sympathy or help so go crawl back under your rock....you'll be safer there.

  • @JD55000 You sound so stupid. Have you even bothered to think how the poor little kids who were here when it happened feel, tons are terrified and each aftershock is a constant reminder.

If you bothered to see anything in the news about chch you would have seen that yes a lot of people may have insurance e.t.c but there are so many families here that dont have insurance or are poor and already started off living in bad houses and since the quake have made them worse.

  • @JD55000

You need to grow the hell up

we can compare this earthquake to haiti because it was BIGGER

the only reason why our buildings didn't all fall down was because we arent a poor country and our building requirements are much higher

get off your fucking high horse youre starting to look like a total idiot.

also note that this is an AFTERSHOCK not the actual earthquake

  • @JD55000

You're cool, leaving lines between your sentences.

  • @JD55000 suck my dick. if you think this is fake come to chch and you will shit yourself over a 2.0

  • @JD55000 You obviously come from another country and you are very, VERYYYY dumb. Haven't you heard of the 7.1 earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand? If you haven't, I feel sorry for you, it's sad to see people who have no idea what happens in the world around them.

At my school we had an aftershock a bit stronger than this, and we all had to run outside. The power also went out at home....

  • Comment removed

  • @JD55000 i'd like to see ur reaction of going through an earthquake.

  • @MrFraser455

    it will be fun

  • @JD55000 you sir, are an idiot.

  • @JD55000 Wanna come live in christchurch?

  • @FRAZELMINTASTIC id like to see how you feel after an aftershock @JD55000

  • @MsBendyl1234

Lost homes and buildings? But how about lives?

Compare new zealand with other countries who have earthquakes

with people who LOSE everything! their family, home and life

You people in CHRISTCHURCH should actually be thank-ful there was very minor fatalaties and damage compared to HAITI,CHILE or CHINA!

all i hear is you people whining and complaining about how upset you are ,acting like its a disaster, like another hati Earthquake

losing businesses, and property damage is too muich?

  • @JD55000 YOU are the only one to compare NZ to 3 other countries, if you had any economic sense you would understand you cannot always compare one country to another. Facts: NZ never asked for aid from anyone! This quake was as big as many world disasters but because we have stringent building codes and the time it struck it ended up this way. The world is in recession and the 2nd largest city in NZ has been severly damaged, Wake up to yourself and admit you are too inexperienced to comment.

  • @MsBendyl1234

well try opening your eyes next time

your ignorance is so far shoved down your asses

  • @JD55000 um pathetic little earthquake?? id like to see how you would like it being awoken at 4.30 in the morning, not knowing if you are going to die or be crushed by a building. people have lost homes and their businesses. it is very real for people living in canterbury. for you to say it is unsignificant is very selfish. like someone else said you cannot fake the awful sound that aftershocks make and each one is a horrible reminder of sept fourth!!!!

  • i hate how we are getting one big aftershock each day now...going to lessen in frequency but not magnitude..yay DX

  • @norwegia01 Yea I agree. I checked out the forcast from the experts who tell us we may get upto another 5 >5.0 over the next 2 weeks so at worst its one every 3 days average and at best its none, I prefer the later :D

I hope everyone keeps safe and please check your house piles, I have around 1/3 cracked or broken under my house and the house just sits on them not secured.

  • whenever i hear an airplane, gust of wind, anything it puts me on alert expecting another aftershock. the one the other night freaked me out ae haha.

  • @94james94 I totally agree although I am past that now. Thefirst few days was absolute hell then when the second faultline started with a vicious 5.1 that it was too much for many people as they left the area to get some sleep. It really screwed with my equilibrium for days. I think the aftershocks have been worse on the body than anything else in my life, just glad its alot better now.

  • Glad that the aftershocks have calmed down now but watching this clip and hearing that rumble at 0:04 before it shakes freaks me out!

  • @happik Totally agree mate. Many people say all they need to hear is a car go past the house and they are readying for another shake. Hasn't it been bliss having only a handful of little 4's and 3's now. Finally I feel safe enough to go under the house and check the piles and see if theres any gaps :)

  • @202ToranaMan Yes it has been bliss. Didn't feel the aftershock that happened at 6.30 this morn and I'm glad. It didn't bother me before but now I can't stand any rumbling noise now. The noisy cars, trucks that speed past my street, big planes coming in and out and the trains that go real slow now but I will get over it, just gonna take some time. : )

  • Hi, im from Chile, and i totally know how those scary aftershocks feel.

  • The latest:

Over 400 aftershocks but they have slowed down dramatically and it is hoped the worst is over now. Christchurch and surrounding areas are trying to get some normality back. Cleanups have gone well in most areas. Approx. 55 commercial building deemed unrepairable and many have already been knocked down. The local and national government have been decisive. The NZ people and oraganisations have been fantastic. Rebuilding and repairing has been underway from day one.

  • Update:

After the big one, I checked the house and we only had one wall unit tip over, but quite a few things ended up on the floor. I went outside and noticed the alarms going off everywher.

There were bricks in our driveway which popped out out of the chimney, then I noticed the garage door was wide open, I had my car on axle stands and it rocked off them then came backwards and forced the garage door open, a tool box walked out the garage 3 feet.

  • Hi Torana Man - Simon Shepherd from 3 news here. Can you give me a call please

    021 22 315 22

  • @simonshepherd you ever heard of private messaging... lol! someone might write your phone number all over bathroom stalls or something, mate. this is, after all, the internetsss!

  • @hyppogryph666 Thanks, I imagine it is for you and the tragedy... just had a 5.2 and it followed up with a 5.4... that got things swaying again

  • wow cool yeah I got family staying over there this weekend so if you can post more that would be great! Sorry for all the comments not sure why it doubled up..

  • @AMFForumvideo The other one was a 4.3... we have had 2 mid 3's since then as well but havn't had another for around 1.5 hours but the total is now 60 aftershocks now in 36 hours.

  • Great Video what are the odds of having the camera recording at the same time of an after shock lol But yeah great video Post more if there are any more big ones

  • @AMFForumvideo I have the video with 1 hour tapes in running permanantly now....

no more mucking around... there was a little one just a few minutes ago maybe a low 3.
