I'm Canadian and have flown on almost every continent. To my American neighbours....YOUR PLANES ARE RELICS!!! Anytime you have heated competition and have airlines losing money it can only mean one thing: OLD AIRPLANES. I have NEVER flown on a plane that had ASHTRAYS on seats until I've flown on your planes. NOBODY else have ashtrays because their fleet is MODERN. You guys are in serious trouble - this shit is gonna get worse. I'm warning you.
Last year I was on AA and aside from the fact they had a HUGE BOOB tube over the aisle, they had mis-matched seats with all sorts of colours PLUS the seats in front was unhinged and the entire row was sliding back and forth. The attendent told the passengers there were no other seats available - never carrying about safety. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE IN WORLD CLASS AIR CARRIERS except in the USA. You wont hear if from your media - YOU GUYS ARE BEING DUPED INTO FLYING IN DANGEROUS PLANES.
I used to work for America West Airlines which has merged with US Air. They outsource maintenance to Costa Rica. It has been found that Southwest also outsources. Safety isn't as important as quality when they are trying to make a dollar.
A little hole can turn to disaster. look up Aloha flight 243 on Youtube...a small whole didn"t seem to be a big deal...but it turned into one scary ass situation and could have been a total fatality. It is a big deal otherwise holes in planes would be a common thing. it would be like "Oh, thats normal" somewhere a worn, stresses area gave away because it was weak. Had maintenance seen that weak area, it wouldn't have happened. BIG DEAL.
When you outsource past your own people who will do the job right if you pay them, incidents like these happen. This isn't Southwest's first time for prompted inpections. They have flown planes well past mandatory inspoection dates and have gotten fined thousands of dollars....all just to try and make a profit....Airline management teams are just a bunch of snakes.
Yes it is airplanes are not allowed to fly unless the aircraft is airworthy which means if theres a hole, not 100% fuel, something wrong with the hydraulics or steering, or any cracks, the plane is not allowed to fly. but since the plane was in the air when the hole appeared it wasnt allowed to fly so it had to make an emergency landing and the passengers hopped on another plane from charleston to baltimore
Yeah...this sounds about right. Most companies are outsourcing labor. Airlines frequently outsource maintenance to contractors for a cheaper price in order to make a profit. What they are gonna get is lousy work and the airline will eventually go out of business. This is due to the greed of manangement. Their greedy decisions not only affect maintenance, but Pilots, flight crews, and ground crews....it really is a shame.
This is just one more reason our MIA government official need to cap profits. They need REAL inspectors, enough OF them and a cap on profits UNTIL every plane is declared fit to fly! Thanks to deregulation in ALL industries, we can't even count on safe food, clothes, toys, even the dry wall we cover our WALLS with, let alone safe travel.
It's a truly disgusting way to run a country, where profits are more important than anything else and where they take the profit FIRST.
This reminds very well of what happened on Aloha Airlines Flight 243. A crack was noticed on the ceiling of the cabin during the flight, and then the entire fuselage rips off. This could very well have happened on this Southwest flight !!!
your right stashdash, Company's are slacking.. Why? because its all about the dollar. And sadly beause of the way the economy is the way it is.. people don't take pride in there job anymore so there ya go.
But things like this can happen due to poor maintenance.. weather, etc..
yep your right, because most manufacturing company's are just not caring anymore, they just want their money, and also sadly the manufactures working there are getting laid off, making it worse for the planes and other equipment to be put together for these company's. Also sometimes thats the reason why a lot of company's are being closed down because of this, the less manufacturing people working, the less planes will be on those run ways and skys.
Holes in planes, that happened to Aloha 243.

Southwest just want to turn a profit by cutting corners here and there. A little hole is no big deal.

Guys these and all planes are going to increasingly
implode.and kill people ..mid flght is the worst ...they
were built on a redundant set of structural tests. even
Nasa is being damaged...eight times in a row
now..all this started recent. whole sections of the
planet are going to suddenly drop dead in small pockets
of a couple hundred thousand peoople at a time as their
oxygen is cut off or they are suddenly frozen..

Stop hopping on these airlines. My theory is the Earths
upper atmosphere is dropping or changing. This is not
the only indicator, a series of construction cranes
collapsing all over recently. A rise in brain hemirages
and heart attacks, heat strokes. My prediction is whole
sections of the planet are going to suddenly drop dead in
small pockets of a couple hundred thousand peoople at a
time as their oxygen is cut off.

The gum plugging the hole came off after takeoff when the lane hit turbulance. The spokesman played that off really well.
