the lyrics immediately evoke images of starvation, death and cannibalism. on another level, i think he's talking about how life sometimes leads us into hurting and using each other. cannibalism represents a kind of desecration of the corpse, which is why it is taboo. ironically, the desecrated bodies are usually friends in life. similarly, oftentimes we end up hurting those we love the most and are closest to because of the harshness of the world we live in.
