@zach7442 I feel an extreme heartfelt sorrow for you. I know how you feel my whole family is dead and have been for seven years. I feel the exact same. I agree with you 100% never let anybody tell you otherwise. Merry Christmas.
Fathers, lets go down. Let us go down to pray. We shall, and it shall be good. For peace at mind will show us the way. Mothers, let us as well go down; go down to pray. As we all go to pray, we must all study a good way which is peace and love. Regardless of creed or color, let us all rejoice in the fact that life has blessed us with the small ability to exist.
I get goose bumps every time I hear this beautiful song. This is one of those songs that makes you stop in your tracks, in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the day, and listen.

anyone know if this is the song the girls in the river in the movie o brother where art thou sang? i cant tell because i have only seen it once and i didnt hear it very well in a crowded room.
This is a tweaking of the old mountain hymn "Down to the Valley to Pray". I like this much, much better. Of course Alison may have something to do with that, too.
@acerb45666555 "starry crown" and robe and crown? Not Buddists, Bahai-ism, or Zoroastrianism. All of those have no reference to "crowns" or "robes and crowns" in their teachings. I'm not aware of any teachings like that in Islam either?
God created polio, science cured it. God created small pox, science cured it. God created leprosy, science cured it. God created 2.million different illnesses, science has found cures for many. God created infertility, science invented IN-VITRO and an estimated 15 million new lives. God`s life averaged 45 years, science extended it to 75. 100.000 innocent children died in Haiti suffocating beneath the rubble. This ALLMIGHTY god, didn`t lift a finger to help.Glory be to god !!
I shall wear a starry crown, one of these days. I study the works of His hands, I look around me and I see everything He has made, I see the evidence of Intelligent Design. I cannot fathom that the One who has made everything so great and wonderful, would love me, even a little bit, much less with the great, unending love He gives me. "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by My name; you are Mine!" Even a loser, a sinner like me, He loves. He loves every one of you, too.
@Cloerchick I do not mean a personal attack on you by saying this, but the Bible says that "God hates evildoers" and "our righteousness is as filthy rags" to Him. It also says "that He who has fallen short at just one point, is guilty of all". Make sure that your faith is placed in Jesus Christ if you truly want salvation. :-)
The idea of intelligent design could only, ultimately, be fulfilled by the eternal God preached in the Bible.
As far as your hope goes, redemption is a wonderful thing!
Even being atheist, this song is incredibly moving and touching. It's wonderful to see so many finding a common interest. I wish that, without pulling religion into it, everyone could just find a common ground like this and live in peace.
@dementis93 - I don't want to excite any discomfort or annoyance in you, but your words describe what God wanted originally in people - an amazing brotherhood who lived for him and loved each other as family, holding a wonderful common ground of being His children and knowing the same wonder. There is, I think, an idea of that in every non-scientific belief, because it's built into us. Thanks for thinking and expressing; I like to hear from atheists when it is your own thoughts. And no offense?
@caliginousweirm Of course not. I respect everyone and their beliefs, including those I disagree with. Religion is a good foundation for brotherhood, yes, but too many wars have also arisen because of it. I wish that mankind could find a common ground that wouldn't be such a touchy topic, is all. Thank you for your support in my words, though. ^_^
@dementis93 No need to pull religion into it. It's not about religion. It's about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. That's the good old way mentioned in the song. We're all sinners and fall short of the mark, That's where Jesus is the bridge to God the father. He paid the price for us all. All we need to do is repent and ask Him into our heart and accept His gift of eternal life by faith through His grace.
@bartstanley Its funny how american christians tell us we all need Jesus as we are collectively guilty but the whites in America aren't collectively guilty for the enslavement of blacks, the genocide of native americans or the genocide of arabs by supporting white colonization of the middle east through support of Israel. The song's lovely but the religion is a crock. Jesus was a muslim he told you about the oneness of God, La ilaha ila Allah. And for the record im southern baptist raised.
@ChameleonMD123 You're incorrect. Christians say that we all need Jesus because we are individually guilty. It isn't just the white people that are responsible for the attempted genocide of various ancestries through out history. In fact it is prejudice for you to suggest that. Muslim extremists (emphasis on the last word) have been attempting the genocide of the American people and the Israeli people for years according to the commands of their "prophet". I can give more examples?
@RadiantPraise Your government is responsible for 9/11 and arguing with people like you is a waste of time. Your whole pretext for genocide against jewes is based on a situation where land was taken from people who had zero to do with the holocaust and given to people who have no connection to the land but through misinterpretation of scripture (one changed throughout the ages based on church need) and outright fraud. Whites do not hail from the desert. They hail from the Caucas Mountains.
@RadiantPraise Telling the Arabs to leave on behalf of the european jew is akin to telling native americans leave the Americas for the european barbarians. And only a misguided zionist white supremacist christian could argue that and hold a straight face.
@RadiantPraise And one more thing. Im not individually guilty of squat. Didnt know christ, didn't kill him, didn't even exist within 2000 years of his existence. The whole argument is insanity. And that is the issue. Christians by and by, are fucking insane. If im individually guilty (which means by the way dunce if everyone is individually guilty then collectively we all are) you are individually guilty for 9/11 as well. Even though you didn't know the plot, the conspirators, or the story.
You saying Christians are "by and by, fucking insane" is just as bad someone saying you're individually guilty. Christians in general are not crazy, but a select few who are put into the media spotlight and highlighted by anti-religious folks may be crazy. But that is true for any religion or society that has ever existed. Don't get mad about someone saying something about you then blanket statement everyone else, that's just lazy.
@Mdalheim Well, what I really meant is if you believe, support and uphold modern day "zionist" christianity you're fucking insane. German, Polish & American "Jewes" have been commiting genocide and land theft in Israel under the guise of a native Arab from Judea reclaiming what they say God gave them.
God told me your community's land was given to my community. If you refuse to leave we'll start murdering you off. How's that sound? That's exactly what zionist christianity is supporting.

Absolutely beautiful song and Alison's voice sounds like an Angel in this song!

This is a very beautiful song. I truely believe that God will deliver me out of the hands of evil, and I hope that He will forgive me of my sins.

Cloerchick 1 year ago

I wish that, without pulling religion into it, everyone could just find a common ground like this and live in peace.
dementis93 1 year ago 6
@dementis93 - I don't want to excite any discomfort or annoyance in you, but your words describe what God wanted originally in people - an amazing brotherhood who lived for him and loved each other as family, holding a wonderful common ground of being His children and knowing the same wonder. There is, I think, an idea of that in every non-scientific belief, because it's built into us. Thanks for thinking and expressing; I like to hear from atheists when it is your own thoughts. And no offense?
caliginousweirm 1 year ago
@caliginousweirm Of course not. I respect everyone and their beliefs, including those I disagree with. Religion is a good foundation for brotherhood, yes, but too many wars have also arisen because of it. I wish that mankind could find a common ground that wouldn't be such a touchy topic, is all. Thank you for your support in my words, though. ^_^
dementis93 1 year ago
@dementis93 No need to pull religion into it. It's not about religion. It's about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. That's the good old way mentioned in the song. We're all sinners and fall short of the mark, That's where Jesus is the bridge to God the father. He paid the price for us all. All we need to do is repent and ask Him into our heart and accept His gift of eternal life by faith through His grace.
bartstanley 1 year ago 34
@bartstanley I agree completely.. unfortunately... this IS religion. :/ everything IS related to religion.
electragoob 11 months ago
@bartstanley Honey, you just said don't pull religion into it, but following Jesus Christ is a religion.
mrsluna0419 8 months ago
@bartstanley Its funny how american christians tell us we all need Jesus as we are collectively guilty but the whites in America aren't collectively guilty for the enslavement of blacks, the genocide of native americans or the genocide of arabs by supporting white colonization of the middle east through support of Israel. The song's lovely but the religion is a crock. Jesus was a muslim he told you about the oneness of God, La ilaha ila Allah. And for the record im southern baptist raised.
ChameleonMD123 8 months ago
@ChameleonMD123 You're incorrect. Christians say that we all need Jesus because we are individually guilty. It isn't just the white people that are responsible for the attempted genocide of various ancestries through out history. In fact it is prejudice for you to suggest that. Muslim extremists (emphasis on the last word) have been attempting the genocide of the American people and the Israeli people for years according to the commands of their "prophet". I can give more examples?
RadiantPraise 8 months ago
@RadiantPraise Your government is responsible for 9/11 and arguing with people like you is a waste of time. Your whole pretext for genocide against jewes is based on a situation where land was taken from people who had zero to do with the holocaust and given to people who have no connection to the land but through misinterpretation of scripture (one changed throughout the ages based on church need) and outright fraud. Whites do not hail from the desert. They hail from the Caucas Mountains.

Bowinudown 7 months ago
@RadiantPraise Telling the Arabs to leave on behalf of the european jew is akin to telling native americans leave the Americas for the european barbarians. And only a misguided zionist white supremacist christian could argue that and hold a straight face.
ChameleonMD123 8 months ago
@RadiantPraise And one more thing. Im not individually guilty of squat. Didnt know christ, didn't kill him, didn't even exist within 2000 years of his existence. The whole argument is insanity. And that is the issue. Christians by and by, are fucking insane. If im individually guilty (which means by the way dunce if everyone is individually guilty then collectively we all are) you are individually guilty for 9/11 as well. Even though you didn't know the plot, the conspirators, or the story.
ChameleonMD123 8 months ago
@ChameleonMD123
Mdalheim 7 months ago
@Mdalheim Well, what I really meant is if you believe, support and uphold modern day "zionist" christianity you're fucking insane. German, Polish & American "Jewes" have been commiting genocide and land theft in Israel under the guise of a native Arab from Judea reclaiming what they say God gave them.
God told me your community's land was given to my community. If you refuse to leave we'll start murdering you off. How's that sound? That's exactly what zionist christianity is supporting.
