The Bush Admin. set up the language in the resoulution so that if the UN weapons inspector found any nuclear or chemical weapons we would then be authorized to go to war. The Bush Admin. set up the language in the resoulution so that if the UN weapons inspector found any nuclear or chemical weapons we would then be authorized to go to war. The Bush Admin. didn't wait for the UN inspectors to finish their inspection thus the term preemptive war. They didn't present the Congress, country or the world with the truth. If they knew history they would know that Saddam and Osama bin Laden would've never allied due to difference in religion one shia the other sunni.

Very sad. Even some of the brightest elected officials were deceived by the Bush administration. I am thankful that we have a democracy that can determine if decisions that were made were justified, and especially that we have the ability to elect others who won't pursue the same mistakes. However, it is unfortunate that Clinton is now our Sec. of State from watching this video. It was not her place to make this pitch and we have to assume that she may repeat such a mistake.

Even if Clinton did time action on Iraq to distract people, the details and the threats were real. The UN SC had the same serious concerns about Hussein that Clinton expressed.

Bill Clinton knew this was baloney in 1998 when Rumsfeld and his pals in the "Project for a New American Century" sent an open letter to him urging him to attck Iraq immediately. Bill had the wisdom to see this very argument for what it was, and did not acquiesce to the warmongers and profiteers. this is such an unfair portrayal of that speech. if you read the rest of it, you will see that she says multiple times "this is not a vote to go to war." the resolution that she voted on was to give the US the leverage to go to the UN and request intensive inspections. to paraphrase joe wilson "the betrayal of the american people was not in that resolution but in the pres bot allowing the inspections to reach their natural conclusions and using that resolution to take us to war."

If she is so against "bush's war" now, then why did she vote with Bush once again in 2007 to declare Iran's Elite Military group a terrorist organization? Does she have any principles of her own? And yeah, Obama criticizes her about this, but he was absent and didn't even vote. Democrats and antiwar republicans should support Ron Paul.

Hillary's vote for the war will be used to hang her in November!. Hillary will not beat the Republicans in November. She can't use the war against them. She can't run as the outsider against them. She can't claim to be more experience than McCain. She WILL unite the wandering conservatives behind McCain and I am 100% sure there are hidden stuff the Republicans have ready to unleash against the Clintons.

The President lied. We were not in imminent danger but we would have been eventually. Check out CBS show 60 minutes from 1-28-08. Saddam wanted to reconsitute all WMD programs. Guess we should have rioted when the supreme court appointed GW in the first place.

If you don't have enough integrity, or attention span to watch the entire speech, you should keep your ignorance to yourself.
And not being there to vote, is not the same thing as voting against the war. Not even close.
Also Bush took us into this was without an actual declaration of war from the Congress, which is required by the Constitution.

The constitution was not violated, because he had authorization to pre-emptively attack Iraq. He could do it at his discretion, pretty much the same way Teddy Roosevelt invaded Cuba. So before you talk, try to educate yourself and think: "Boy, will I make an ass of myself with what I'm saying?"

Unfair. There's plenty of debate about this, but it's not an uneducated opinion. The authority was to use force to get Saddam to comply with inspections, not to start a war with Iraq. Bush definitely abused his power.

"Progress?" We were supposed to be looking for Al Qaeda, not "overthrowing tyrannies" - first they lied and said Iraq was helping Al Qaeda; fa;se. We were told Iraq had weapons of mass destruction; lies. Then when no WMDs were found, it shifted to "getting rid of a dictator." That is not the purpose of the War on Terror. We're wasting $12 billion a month killing innocent Iraqis (civilians!) while we ignore Al Qaeda & our crumbling economy.

The unedited speech made upon voting in 02' is 20mins long, where she made it clear to Bush directly that her vote was not to interpreted as authorisation for preemtive, unilateral evidence on incunclusive evidence of WMD existing. She gave authorisation for force as a last resort only if WMD proven to exist by UN inspectors, and if diplomatic efforts to reach disarmament were exhausted 1st.
