454 isn't that bad to shoot, or at least doesn't look it. There's not much push or muzzle flip, just an unbelievable amount of shock being delivered into your arms and wrists. I've had mine for a few years now and I can get off 6 shots as fast as any other revolver very controlled. I just don't like to, and anyone who's shot one regularly can tell you why lol.

Amen. I have the 460 5 inch and I was fortunate enough to have the brain power ahead of time to lean into that sucker. .460 is a beast and .454 no joke either. I went .460 over .500 for a more linear shot trajectory. S&W doesn't even make a 5 incher in .460 anymore, shame too, good wheel gun.

@berner: that would be pretty sick. The companies that make handguns have already agreed (or so I'm told) that they will not produce a weapon with a caliber over .500. Supposedly the S&W .500 is as big as they'll get. Supposedly.

@Upgraayd: It's doesn't have anything to do with an agreement between firearms manufacturers. .50 caliber is the largest than any rifled barrel firearm cartridge can be before it falls under a class 3 "destructive device" BATF classification. To purchase a gun or device that falls into this category, you would have to submit fingerprints to the BATF, purchase a $200 tax stamp which takes months to receive, etc. Most people aren't willing to go through this hassle and expense.

cod4 or not, stopping power is a viable, important criteria for a gun/ammunition. For example, you wouldn't shoot a guy on PCP with a .22LR, he'd keep going like nothing happened, hit him with a deer slug in the chest though...maybe he'd go down after 2 or 3 shots. the power of a 454 is impressive, will easily knock someone down dead.

since I'm not exactly the skinny type, my extra mass allowed me to better absorb the recoil of the gun, Plus, I had a death grip on the thing. If I let my sister shoot this, I'd expect a very different looking recoil. And this gun like the 500 magnum, i felt it in every part of me, my teeth rattled a bit, my bones shook, you can definitely feel the gun's power.

Yes you can fire a Machine gun or a Sub Machine gun with a Suppressor without ruining it (silencer) I have a m11-9 that fires at around 1400 rpm and a Bowers CAC-9 Suppressor on it and nothing has ever melted lmfao.

you're defeating the purpose of the silencer then, because at full auto you're making a helluva lotta racket without the silencer, and with it, you're still making alot of noise. Silencers are great for sniper rifles, pistols, and semi auto assault rifles. If you can't hit the target with one or 2 shots, why fire 1400 rounds at the target and give yourself away? a gun like that says you're lazy and don't want to practice marksmanship.

they suck for rifles, period. if you are using a suppressor then you have to use subsonic ammo. Rifles are so powerful because of all that muzzle velocity. so using subsonic ammo means you have the terminal ballistics of a marshmallow. using supersonic ammo will still give you a sonic boom as it leaves the muzzle, hence the subsonic ammo. suppressors are designed primarily for pistols and SMGs.most effective in the hands of a SWAT member with an mp5 with suppressor.
