The problem isn't in letting Muslims *into* our country of course, but in failing to ask what kind of Muslim they are. You should ask, are they the kind of Muslim who believes in individual liberty? Seperation of church and state? You should ask, instead of what is the source of his beliefs, what does he actually believe? It is impossible to have a consistent legal system without accepting some beliefs, some ideas, some values, and rejecting others.

When speaking of "native populations", Steyn should be careful to only include the UK and "the continent", as he put it, lest he conflate indigenous peoples of the Americas or Australia with who he's really talking about: White People. Aside from that, he makes some good points.

Muslim immigrants to Australia, for example, are not so much supplanting natives of that country (Aborigines), but the non-native white majority. I was objecting to Steyn's implication that whites are native to the West as a whole, when they're really only native to Europe.

I took great pleasure in firing an English appliance repairman once - because he got pissed off at being asked to come in the back door (servants' entrance in England); and so acted like a jerk over the repair. I phoned his company and told them not to send him back again, they said he'd been difficult and wondered if it was the English thing - I said yes, and don't be nice to him.

I disagree. Moderate socialism is in no way harmful. Counties such as Canada, Australia, and the UK I believe, owe their free healthcare to socialistic policies and thinking. On the other side you have American style capitalism which by nature is heartless and uncaring for everyday people. A small degree of socialism promotes caring for people, full on capitalism promotes greed and a money first mentality! Yes, but I was talking of a mix of capitalism and socialism. If the people don't feel their interests are being looked out for the end result will simply be the government will cease to exist as it's citizens will eventually, though not overnight, rebel and overthrow it. BOTH hardcore capitalism and socialism will lead to the same in the end. A balance would be more stable in the long run. Thing is, governments are terrible at balances. The end result of every system, though, is collapse anyway.

Keith Martin wants to scrap it you are right. The HRC was created by liberals. It still has a lot of Lib support. Dion was against scrapping it at first and now he has changed his tune. Search lib blogs and you will see that most libs support the CHRC and almost all conservatives are against it.
