  • BEN:since whe you sleep with a bottle of whisky?

  • Like a Rat...

  • butlers are always british

  • @zaandarbrow Especially in London, England.

  • Check out Ben's Jim Halpert-face at 0:27!

  • @PlanetMan77 lol

  • this is evil vs VERY EVIL!!!

  • ....Ben looks dead sexy in this scene. I'm just gonna say it. XD

  • the hotel doorman - why did he have to have the dick van dyke accent? nobody in the UK talks like that!

  • You can't pick a lock without a tension wrench Ben! How'd you do that?

  • ben is way kewler than widmore

  • see the way their faces are shadowed

  • Benjamin Linus vs Charles Widmore

    John Locke vs Benjamin Linus

    Jack Shephard vs John Locke

James "Sawyer" Ford vs Jack Shephard

Jacob vs The Man in Black

Turns out to be a show about confrontation

  • one of my favourite Lost scenes, i love that fact that the confrontation is so climactic to this episode, and you can clearly tell that they have a very deep history. i also love that Charles calls Ben "Boy", commenting on how naive he is to whats really going on...

  • when i first saw this and widmore says "I see you've been getting more sun" I first though Ben said "Your ROCK is lovely this time of year." meaning earth, and i was like OMG! He's an alien! ...but then i realized he said Iraq.. haha

  • I wanna have Benjamin Linus' babies.

  • @Lee86Cr So true ;)

  • sleep tight charles

  • why can't he kill widmore?

  • @jupju because it would be too easy. He would rather kill Penny and then have Charles suffer like he did.

It's a game the two have played for decades (looks no further than season 5 for that info).

But there isn't anything physically preventing either of them from killing each other.

  • Omg! Ben's clothes!

I just want to rip them off and lick his body o_o

Yes - they are that gorgeous.

  • ur crazy

  • @fromGRbrotha Yes I am... <.<'

  • Next season

  • can they please give us some more information on this feud, it's one of the main reasons why I watch this show

  • If you paid attention to the 5th season, Ben got Widmore exiled off the Island.

  • Ben is a smooth operator.

  • I like the duality that each of them has one half of their face light and one half dark. Neat way of framing the scene.

  • @forte1989

    Definitely a Star Wars nod.

  • possibly the best scene out of the entire series, SO FAR

  • Def. one of the best scenes.

  • Well, my favorite scene is the phone call from The Constant, but this is a close second. Those Widmores bring the drama, I suppose.

  • Michael Emerson is a great actor! And Ben is also a great hero

  • Ben and Widmore seem to be playing a similar game to Jacob and Smokey

Im excited to see whose on whose side

  • not even close, this game is a nonsense, Jacob and Smokey are the real deal.

So charles widmore wants the island for him?

  • I'm not so sure about that....ben says "we both know I can't do that" and it's pretty obvious that Jacob and smokey can't kill each other either....so there could be some sort of connection.

  • omg. This weeks LOST Richard and Jack couldnt kill each other. So looks like Charles and Ben are candidates too?!

  • Charles said " I know who you are, what you are! What did he mean..b/c he knew the island transformed him into something?" Changed WHAT rules? by having baby with an outsider? Is charles, Jacobs enemy,,,what about not being able to kill one another?

  • I liked it when Widmore told Ben that he has horrible eyes. :-D

  • yeah that was great lol

  • can people stop saying locke/jack/sawyer/widmore/richard is jacob i said all along jacob is jacob and thats who he turned out to be

  • they are both the blackgammon players, the only problem is they both cheating.

  • this was the only scene of lost ever to be filmed off Hawaii

  • No, the scene where Sun confronts Widmore was shot in London as well...

  • uhhh bullshit, what about the scenes at oxford? or central london?

  • those are in hawaii, oxford is actually a church in hawaii.

    idk about central london

  • they both deserve revenge

  • This scene takes on a whole new meaning after the Season 5 finale...

  • Damn right it does! Why the hell can't they kill each other? What are "the rules"?

  • Maybe they both time travelled and Ben is the smoke monstor and Charles is Jacob

  • who is charles widmore? what is he? you think hes jacob?

  • HOW COULD CHARLES WIDMORE POSSIBLY BE JACOB ??????????

DID YOU NOT SEE THE SEASON 5 FINALE ?

    jeeez.

  • LOL! Dear me, I think that's quite enough yelling for one day...

  • i know! this shows driving me insane!

  • AND ME!!! :D

  • You're right

  • Ben is a gangster with that pole.

  • he seems more of a proffessional badass.

  • i think both widmore and ben are the "dark"

the island seems to think so since the smoke monster version of alex told him he would be destroyed if he didn't follow John's every word.

and there doesn't really seem to be anything "light" about widmore either.

  • I don't think Penny will die. It would ruin the show IMHO.

  • Why? Ben would have his revenge

  • widmore=asshole!

  • Ben's the greatest leader the others ever had, theyll never be the same without him. Locke cant lead to save his life. He's also pretty dumb, unlike ben.

  • I cant wait to see all this unfolds. We know Whidmore was the Leader but I love to know why He was kicked off it. And since we know you can return, either Whidmore doesnt know Ms Hawking can lead you back to the Island or she just wont tell him and like Ben cant kill Whidmore maybe Whidmore also cant kill Ms hawking.

  • OH my gosh... I love 1:55 how he said that was amazing. Michael Emerson is an amazing actor. This scene was just perfect. And they picked the right guy to play Widmore, thnx for the clip. 4:29 "Sleep tight Charles." That gave me goosebumps

  • For me, this was the most misterious scene of all the entire show.....

I mean....why the hell they don´t try nothing against each other????????

I mean, Ben told Charles he was gonna murder his daughter....and Charles just stared at him!!!!!

This scene is killing me! So much mystery!!!

  • Gruding respect between the two?

Or, as is always the case, Ben holds all the cards. Always.

  • Respect? I don´t think so.....Ben holding ALL the cards? maybe.....or maybe not.....specially nowadays!!! (Sun knocked him down, and Locke found him unconcious, remember?)

    We´ll see...

  • I feel like maybe Ben got penny or atleast attempted to

at the end of episode 316 he was all bloody and we know that penny was in LA somewhere because Desmond came to visit Hawking

  • Michael Emerson would make a HELL of a James Bond if he were about ten years younger and British! WOW!

  • What I like best about Ben's feud with Widmore is that there is no good side/bad side to it. They're both bad guys.

  • ben is a good guy! :(

  • Tell that to John!

I thought I was finally being vindicated for liking Ben when he was being really kind to John, then he did 'that' and I raged like 1000 suns.

No doubt he'll have some excuse for it, but it'll take a lot of explaining. One wouldn't be totally irrational to think Widmore might just be the better man. That's saying a lot!

  • who cares about locke? I wish he'd just stay dead. I dont know why the hell richard thinks he could be a better leader of the others than ben. Also, Locke had to die to bring everyone back so ben did nothing wrong.

And Widmores just an asshole, nowhere near as interesting as ben and certainly not as intelligent. I was dissapointed about matthew abbadons death though, I wanted to see more of him.

  • I know exactly how you feel, that was me watching that episode

  • 0:41 LOL, he was ready to smack you upside the head, dude! :D

  • I don't yet understand why Chales Widmore says to Ben that he killed Alex, he seems pretty sure about it.......what if Ben was the one who arranged the freightor to simulate the "enemies" were coming ?

  • I think he meant that Ben killed her by not cooperating with their terms, that he had the chance to come out for her sake and chose not to.

  • so did ben kill penny in the last episode?? Was that why he was all beat up?

  • Who knows! But one thing is for sure, before leaving the church, he told Jack he had to do something because he had "promised an old friend", which to me translates to "I gotta go kill Penelope Widmore" because I promised Charles Widmore I would in 4x09.. Maybe he already did, and he had a little confrontation with Desmond.

  • That's what i was thinking, since they live on a boat and Ben was all wet as well as bloody, i suddenly thought, 'wait a minute, if ANYONE tried to hurt Penny, Desmond would go attack dog on their ass...' Guess Ben didn't take that into account.

  • oh i SO called it! ahaha! xD sorry, im not gloating i just wanted to say that. Cheers to everyone who had the same theory! *cheers*

  • I hope so. I like Penny, but I'm on Ben's side.

  • i love the epic voice of widmore

  • i luv this ep.

  • one of my fav scenes

anyway i love listen to charles saying audacity

  • same lol

  • And "like a rat"

  • since I saw your comment, 'undeadlocknorerolls' everytime I talk about the actor who plays Charles Widmore (and I do sometimes because he was in Ugly Betty and other stuff), my sister and I refer to him, or any of his characters, as "Audacity" : P

just a random information... thanks again

    anyway...

  • does anyone know wtf "the rules" are??

  • not for sure, but i'm assuming the "rules" are something along the lines of - whatever we do to each other in this little war of ours, we do not, do not, go after each other's families. At least that's the theory that makes the most sense to me.

  • Or considering the time travel element of the show, they might be some time traveling rules. Remember you can't change the past:)

Either way we'll find out soon enough...

  • no but we will fine out hopefully!

  • This scene is a lot more interesting now after the revelations of "Jughead" (Season 5 Episode 3)

  • I love Ben, always have since the beginning. My mom thinks I'm nuts, but I find Ben attractive. Anyone else think so?

  • YESSSS!!!!!!

  • OMG yesss haha

  • Don't stand there looking at me with those horrible eyes of yours,

    great line.

  • It seems like a living chess game between these two, with extraneous rules of their own.

    Sleep tight all...

  • Wake up Charles...

I want one of those collapsable batons that Ben has.

    So cool.

    Oh, yeah,

Whats wrong with a bottle of scotch by the bed???

    hahah

  • jim robinson became an alcoholic ever since he left neighbours lol

  • the look ben does at 4:07 is very sinister

  • it seems like he may already know where she is...

  • This is one of the best scenes in the show ever....Why cant ben kill widmore? What rules? who and what is ben? what rules have been changed, why he never find her.......

There is definatly more to widmore then meets the eye i just cant think what maybe that he is ageless or at least very very old, black rock old

  • I want to know where Ben gets his clothes at. Pretty nice threads.

  • Is widmore like the ultimate badass?

  • i love the whole face thing. half dark and half light

  • Rather adam and eve be pesmond than jate...

  • ive only seen to seson 2, but didnt he say that he lived on the island his entire life? from a video ive seen

  • Yes, Ben did say that. But Ben doesn't always tell the whole truth.

  • Widmore was Benjamin's twisted psychlogist (part of DARMA!!!!)

  • I think widmore was on the island one time but the island got moved and widmore got slung off and cant find it now

  • @widmore got slung off and cant find it now@

    lol funny guy

  • This has to be one of the thickest scenes ever from Lost. Between Michael Emerson and Alan Dale, I swear I get chills every time I watch it.

THIS is exactly why I love Lost.

  • I think one of the most intense scenes along with this was in the hatch when Sayid was doing a number on Ben while Jack is having a confrontation with Locke as the alarm sounding and Locke wants to punch in the numbers but Jack was holding him against the wall until Locke would open the door to the room where Sayid was putting the beat-down on Ben. Such an intense scene I loved it. So much energy in that one scene. Absolutely brilliant writing by the producers. Just love LOST

  • I wonder if Desmond and Penny will end up becoming Adam and Eve. With the whole wacky time travel thing.

  • good theory buddyb20

  • all I have to say is: Ben is the best!

  • nice buildingª11

  • Are ben & widmore each others constants? maybe thats why ben cant kill him... notice the left side of bens face is light & widmores left side is dark, its a recurring theme "2 sides-one is light, one is dark"

  • interesting

  • Ahhhh, good idea!

  • i think that Ben somehow will use Sayid to kill Penelope...Penelope dies and Desmond wants revenge :P blaming the wrong person (Sayid), he soon finds out that it was Ben's fault!! the whole thing will probably end with Desmond getting help from Mr. Widmore to kill Ben! it seems like all the characters are somehow connected, so we'll probably get a chain reaction where everyone kill eachother...

  • That is exactly a very likeable possibility that I have been thinking for a while. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks something like that could happen.. or will probably happen!

  • ROFL, sleep tight Charles! Love how he says that.

  • Ok my theory is that Charles was the leader of the dharma initiative which he established himself upon finding the island as the captain of the black rock! Then ben killed of the Dharma lot blah de blah de blah and thats the reason now charles and him are such rivals

  • Okay I have a theory.....just a theory.

maybe Widmore was the leader of the Dharma Initiative b/c he says that island was mine and it will be again(maybe when Ben killed the Dharma Initiative.....he "stole" the island from Widmore).

  • ooo thats good!

  • how do they knnoe eachother?

  • A frenchman and a Brit. Classic

  • notice how ben says "your rock is lovely this time of year" it was witmores first

  • I think he says "Iraq is lovely this time of year"

  • pause at :29 its classic

  • This ending was freaking awesome. I never saw it coming that Ben would just walk into Widmore's room like that.

    Two fantastic actors facing off!

  • "Then I suppose the hunt is on for both of us.."

    "I suppose it is..."

  • Oooh. Gives me chills <3

    LOVE Ben!!

  • "like a RAT" I Love it!

  • "I know who you are ,boy. What you are."

    Classic

  • another genius scene, the lights which cover one half of the faces, the music, and ofcourse the two evil guys talking

  • I wouldn't say Ben was 'evil' anymore. It seems like he was only trying to protect the Island now, as he have suspected that some people on the plane were 'associates' of Widmore.

  • I still call Ben evil, or he is trying to protect het Island or not! He gassed whole the dharma initiative with his father, he captured walt, captured Jack, Sawyer and Kate to let them to cut some rocks, almost brainwashed Alex' friend, he was responsible for goodwins death, has some evil fighting skills and has the ability to persuade someone to kill himself!

  • He gassed Dharma to protect the island.

He captured Walt because he had an ability, he captured Jack because he was a spinal surgeon and Sawyer and Kate were just part of his 'breaking Jack' plan. Jacks an ass anyway.

He brain-washed Carl because he didn't want Alex to become pregnant through him (she would die).

Goodwin is responsible for his own death. (He insisted he could change Ana-Lucia.)

All of Bens motives have an INNER goal to protect the island.

  • yeah that's true. But "the breaking Jack" plan is still quite cruel, just like he sent Goodwin just because he hoped he died. Ben is such an awesome character. One of the best of Lost!

  • Personally, I think Charles Widmore is WAAAY more evil/bad than Ben.

He sent mercenaries to capture Ben alive and then kill everybody else on the Island, even those from Oceanic 815. Despite them being completely oblivious to what was happening. Now that is evil.

  • Charles is evil indeed, but he is not as ruthless in my opinion... He would weep and cry if Penny was in trouble. Ben stood there, in full control of himself while his daughter died. In the end... Ben WILL do what it takes to get it done.

  • yeah that was quite a scene!

  • The reason he acted like he didn't care about Alex was because killing family members was "against the rules", so he thought Keamy was merely bluffing. Ben didn't expect Keamy to actually kill her, and thats why he declared he will kill Penny, to balance it out.

  • I guess you are right about that... but either way I see Ben as more chillingly lacking in empathy, I feel Charles is not as dangerous as he claims to be... the type of men who would beg for his own life... But I could be wrong... you never know what 'Lost' will bring us next. The battle between Ben and Charles continues.

  • I say:

Season 5 Finale = Penny Dies

Season 6 = Desmond gets revenge.

  • Um, who's goodwin again?

Is he the guy Ben sent to the back of the plane?

  • yeah he is

  • Ok, I didn't think was important enough to mention.

  • "That island's mine, Benjamin. It always was, and it will be again."

One of the best lines of the entire series.

  • Perhaps the survivors were wrong about Ben and just misunderstood him.

  • "But you'll never find it".

Ben = God. No questions asked.

  • Ben is one of a kind.

    And Widmore is Palpatine's roommate.

  • " Don't stare there looking at me with those horrible eyes of yours"...

    How f good is that?

  • LOL XD pretty f good

  • sleep tight charles

  • SO FREAKING AWESOME!!! Ben is my favorite character by far! And Widmore has one of those cool voices that you can't help but listen to.

  • absolutely flappy ^^

  • I don't know how they do it, but this series just gets better and better and better.

  • Widmore reminds me of the Emperor from Star Wars.

  • he does kinda have that croaky voice..

  • i thought the same thing when i was watching it lol

  • And now we have the Millennium Falcon making an appearance in the last episode.

    Hmmm.

  • These actors are awesome. And yes, one of the best endings ever in Lost.

  • One of best endings to an episode ever.
