  • @dleblanc343

    Ah thank you ;D

Yeah I still have to learn a lot of french grammar....

  • Canadian bassist

  • There's a tasty tone on that bass.

  • still nice to watch en listen to.if he would use his pink to,it would be faster.but this is still great.

  • Mind: Blown.

    Life: Fulfilled.

  • alain caron + steve vai = holy jesus what the helll was that. it needs to happen.

  • A Canadian Bassist. Not 'a French Bassist'. Well- 'French Canadian' (Quebec). A great guy too. I met him and got a few lessons off of him. Very approachable.

  • Guy's not french, he's french canadian. Fixing this would be very kind.

  • I bet midgets are gang bangin' to this shit

    Great rythm section. Horrible synth.

  • Awesome!! Tres Tres bien!!

  • Sounds like slapping on Jaco's bass lines, great solo and technique

  • Would you mind fixing the title? I'll be back here alot...

  • What a player! This guy does what Mark King can't...all due respect to Mark King...but six strings! The music is very similar to Tower Of Power. Capische!

  • JAZZ....... forever and ever.....<3

  • He makes it look too easy...

  • I saw this guy live last week and his bass sounds so powerfull in person.

  • yawa d best gahi kau ang bahista ..

  • The sound is cool, but his gay right hand technique makes me unable to watch this :-D

  • @trapfman Seems pretty normal to me...im not gay

  • @trapfman That technique is called "slap" and you won't even start to understand how much work, practice and dedication has been put into this so he can master it and be one of the best at it!

    Wise up kid!

  • @katraal AND....adding the fact that he uses all the fingers of his right hand(with the exception of his pinky)to slap, double thumb, and pluck the strings with limited hand movement,is quite an accomplishment in itself!

  • @trapfman

    your an idiottttttt

  • @trapfman i MUST join the million billion in condemning your REALLY stupid post!! Double thumb technique sounds great, allows great playing and LOOKS great!!

  • @frontmann7 it looks like he does a better job giving handjobs than playing slap with that right hand

  • this makes me want a 6 string.

  • Duuuude.....thats a big ass guitar! and he plays it very well!

  • Duuuude.....thats a big ass guitar! and he plays it very well!

  • Is that a 5-string bass?

  • @Keira2694 you are blind

  • @bluespirat I meant to say 6.. Sorry.

  • from Quebec not France

  • i dont understand those who dont enjoy dissonance. when you think about it a third is dissonant (car horns for example) besides. the dissonance adds an intensity to this piece and makes it just that much more satisfying when it goes back to consonance

and just to those anti slap people. eat alain's shit

  • I'M BETTER THAN HIM. loljk. :(

  • congratulation from chile alain blessing

  • SOLO IS AWESOME!!!

  • Es un gran bajista canadiense, no francés como dice TheBob94

  • Looks like a 40 pounds lighter Chick Corea

  • My god! He's BAAD! Plenty of fantastic bassers on the toob, but this chap is supernatural!!

  • it kinda remembers me that jaco pastorius song with whather report, teen town

  • holy shit, man! look at that bass!!

  • Comment removed

  • fusion Jazz ?

  • Anyone else think the chords that the keyboard player is playing sound freaking awful most of the time?

  • @FindingMyF33t Dominant #9/b13, b9/b13,and#11/13 chords.

  • @FindingMyF33t In this sort of music, dissonant sounding chords seem to work well with the music, however, I do agree with you, its the sound sample, or something...it just sounds like its crapping all over an otherwise great piece of music! lol Might be what they were going for though! :)

  • @jlebesis True, but that's usually when the dissonant chords are resolved through use of suspended notes etc. As a virtuoso performance, it's probably easier to get away with though, as the song's purpose is to showcase Alain Caron's talent.

  • Awesome tune!!!!

  • Yeah! good Music... Amazing!

  • turn that shitty keyboards down!!! typical keyboard players never get it right with bass players

  • Nice tone actually, maybe a little thin on solo. I'd be happy to have it. But this is the shit. The BPM is 130, not 170. That would be hellatious! What a killer groove.

  • Woah... That's some insane slapping right there...

  • How can he retire, thats insane. He's not even old.

  • Brutal :3

  • alain is otherworldly ... one of canada's best ... but i heard he's retired ... why would he do that? musicians arent supposed to retire :-\

  • There are very few things in this world that really make me happy. One is a low flying fighter jet at the speed of sound. The other is a bass slapping sixteenth notes at 170 BPM.

  • @gebass6 You got it....

  • @gebass6 same here flying plus music guitar and bass

  • @gebass6 They are the two same things for me!

  • @gebass6 Sorry but this is 130 bpm

  • @KaslarProductions Yeah!I realized that a while after I posted my comment.I was guessing actually. Not having a metronome in my possesion.

  • @gebass6 no worries. :D A good rule of thumb when trying to guess tempo is that Jungle/Drum&Bass tracks are 170-180 bpm most the time, Trance is usually 140-150 and house and funk is usually 125-140.

  • @KaslarProductions Well, the first two music types I've never listen to.So I don't have them in my head. But I used to be into a bit of Funk back in the day.

  • 38 people missed the green thumb button ;)

  • Rhodes rule!

Don't like the sound of the bass, though it's played technically very well...

    @kr

  • Rhodes rule!

Don't like the sound of the bass, though it's played technically very well...

    @kr

  • @EdgarDuVois He learned the trade with extraodinaire guitarist Michel Cusson.

Remark he doesn't play a 5 string. He's on a 6 strings, one 4th higher, He could very well be into higher tones and sounds for some cultural or emulation reasons (just to prove to Cuss that bass is just as expressive than guitar). He had to cope with some amazing beast on a regular guitar against him in the UZEB years.

But, that's the sound on Alain, like it or not. :O))

He still is not rotten for so much.

  • mükemmell

  • this is pretty rockin. I'm more for death grind but I'm tryin to learn slap.

  • ce besta ouuuuuuuuuuuuA

  • 38 people did not play bass as child and now regret it ^

  • Alain Caron is very technical and a genius of a bassist ... fkcn off the chain

  • I am so used to watch uzeb´s 80´s videos that I can´t belive how time runs and makes people old!

  • I keep hearing the PEANUT'S theme in my head!!!

  • Toca Muito

  • oh dayum, throwin up the horns of satan at 9:29

  • Spasm13: "Is it just me or do Rhodes keyboard sound like those cheap plastic keyboard you buy for your kids at Walmart?".....

Now, Its that a question made by a total ignorant or what? Look, you cheap-synth lover, Walmart's CD dept. buyer: virtually every keyboard on this planet has sound banks emulating Rhodes piano. There must be some reason for that, but I cant hope you will understand it.

  • great music, great bass player, however I prefer V. Wooten with 4 strings...but thanks for sharing.

  • You call this a slol?

    I think its a solo

  • Is he using the V-Bass (original) or the VB-99?

  • 38 personas que no saben apreciar la buena musica! pero 988 personas que lograron sentir el feeling! yeah!

  • i didnt know ray ramano could play the bass :D

  • What a great bass player, and what a sad man...

  • damn, this guy is so unreckognized

  • boring

  • bass solo starts at 4:25

  • @azfryguy no i believe it starts at 0:01

  • That bass sounds so "mean" :D

  • gotta love that bass sound!

  • bass groove + drums groove = monsters

  • Looks like Ray Romano playing bass,,,,,,,,,lol.

  • lol "slam the clown" is a brazilian slang for wanking!

by the way, Alain is one of the best bassists ever, in my humble opinion!

  • @malavertchu I thought that it had to do with hockey!Him being French/Canadian.

  • @gebass6 haha, i really dont think Alain knows the meaning of this expression here in Brazil. That is quite a funny coincidence.

  • If this song could have been played by King Crimson or the Pastorius big band, it would have been fantastic, but Alain Caron have been hit by disease: the sound of 80's/90's jazz fusion.

  • @TheBassSlappa .....francophone yes,but not french.

  • they got funk to spare!

  • I am French so I'd say Alain is a cousin ;)

  • @TheBassSlappa No .... simply no

  • I bought this DVD. The vibraphonist did a great solo another tune!

  • this is probably the worst music i ever heard :)

  • Man i died and gone to heaven when i heard this

  • keyboardist looks like hes working so hard, alain is groovin away just feelin it deep, and the drumer is just like chillin love it

  • Marvel vs. Capcom 3 music?

  • the boy can slap n pop it!!!

  • E' impressionante....

    UN GRANDE !!!!

  • ah les caron's ils sont bon !!!!!!

  • Anyone know what effect(s) he's using during the solo? It looks like he might have a midi pickup too? Not sure if that's contributing.

  • Daaaayum!!!! Who is this guy??

  • É incrível! (unbelievable!)

  • This is Funk!

  • Spasm.... A Rhodes piano has yet to be reproduced with all the keyboards out there, it is one of the most sought out sounds for serious keyboard musicians....You cant beat a Rhodes piano!!!!!.....

  • @mugwaii2008 He won't realize that until his next lifetime when he's killing old ladies just to find a Rhodes.

  • Fusion as it should be.

This style of music never ages.

  • so much talent here in the world..i never heard of this musician..and i thought i was the best...lol..

    this is incredible

  • Pretty tight melody this guys are one of the best around specially Caron.

  • Amazing !

  • WOW!!!!! is nice, he is a great bass man!!!! esta bien safado, loco, very good a like it

  • I dont know what this is, progressive jazz fusion? Oh fuckin well, I love this... cant get enough... I shall call this music.... Ear Crack.... cause my ears keep wanting it...

  • Furlanetto (sp?) a Hamilton guy who custom makes basses and guitars supports Caron bigtime.

  • ???
