Thank you for sharing.....I have been a Gene Fan for 25 years....his song were always hope and comfort for me. The love of my life has just a couple of days to life.....we were separated 22 years....it was "Time will bring you everything" that gave me hope...we had another six months togehter....and now "the rose of love" gives me hope that we will someday meet again...
Actually this beautiful song was written by the late and great Gordon Mills (he's the author of such gems like The Lonely One (Cliff Richard, Tom Jones) , Hungry for love and Gelous Girl (Johnny Kidd, Searchers). Gene makes it his own of course. Nobody does it better!
Gene was an amazing blues singer, he could touch your soul with his voice and this bled over into his ballards. He was the best ballard singer of any of the rock n roll singer from the 50s,no one comes near him.
We have to thank the arrival of You Tube A Gene Vincent fan from way back Never realised he sang such great ballads as are appearing on You Tube His range from My Favourite Dance in the Street to these Ballads is incredible But the strangest thing of All is he never had a No.1 Not even in Top Ten in UK Highest he ever achieved was No.15 Why ??? I dont know or care. He Was Unique As was Elvis ; Roy Orbison Long Live Rock n Roll / Rockabilly The First & Forever TeddyBoy
I really agree with you, we in the UK heard Gene with Be-Bop A Lula, the rest followed brilliant outstanding Artist one of many, sadly missed over here
Good or Bad, we'd never have heard this peice of history unless Ronny recorded it. Gene obviously gave his blessing or it wouldnt have been done. Thank heavens for small mercies and so what if Ronny earnt a few bob out of it. Thats what he did for a living..Go figure
The lead guitar is awsome! Done with a acoustic guitar it stand out beautifully. I know Ronny personally and he was good friends with Gene. He didnt profit very much and didnt get the respect he was do for much of his work. You must be a total perfectionist and dont appreciate the true raw sound

This was recorded on an old reel to reel tape deck , with just a guitar and a mike, the backing track was sadly added after Gene died,

Rockin Ronnie did a awsome job! You don't know what your talking bout! Thank God Ronnie did it and not you! Sounds perfect!
ladsheart77 3 years ago
the lead guitar on this one is a real pity. And Ron Weiser made money on the name of Gene with a bullshit lp.
eugenecraddock 3 years ago
not sound perfect. The lead guitar part is really poor. I hate overdub
eugenecraddock 3 years ago
he didn't made a good work. It's like the Norman Petty overdubs on the Buddy Holly tracks.

overdubed by ron weiser unfortunately.
