I'm with the students, they should do civil disobedience against this unjust law. They are taxpayers like everyone else who have been shafted far too long by the government. Student fees have doubled over the past decade--this is outrageous and unacceptable. This is a greater injustice than taking up the parking space of a human whale.

Same price for any public parking garages in Berkeley. Cal charges $327 a semester to park in school lots. Zone restrictions are just another way to generate revenue. They might not be charging yet, but in cities where this has been established you have to pay to park in front of your own house. You've got city planners, city managers, zoning laws, nobody in power can come up with the simplest solution, require more parking to be available. Students don't want to park off campus, fix it.

So any citizens that pays taxes there should be able to park there at no additional charge. Especially knowing that the fees only push the cars out onto the neighbor streets which causes a burden on the residents.

I've been to the universities of applied science in the city of Regensburg and the city of Stralsund: In Regensburg students were able to park for free, in Stralsund they can enter the parking lot only with a transponder (deposit of 50€)..
