ummm i saw a few video game scenes in there, yeah a few cutscenes are done in programs like wat autodesk has available, but what i just saw looks to me like it was shot inside the games itself. that assasins creed part for example.

@LMitchellAnimation Yes autodesk has some new good software (like for example the new features in mudbox) But I think autodesk needs more good compositing software (like nuke from foundry ); I dont see to much future in autodesk comubstion or other similar produts from autodesk. In the 3d development Maya and 3d max (both now from autodesk) rules.

many people seem to think the reason why maya is ace is because of it's hundreds of features, that's not true, it's real strength is it's mel scripts, you can literally shape maya to anything you need, provided you actually know how to do it,

Not totaly true, to get a lisensed version for comercial purpose is what cost the most! Like 4000 a piece. but you can get the same software - maya, 3ds max, after effects student versions for like $160 - that is if your a student :)

You are both correct, The "Pro's" do use it, it does cost $1,000,000 for the software PLUS hardware to run the render engine. The software alone costs a lot less. in the region of 4k.

Still the money you get back from doing high end production work, you need a pretty good resume to get the job to get the pay.

Most times, shared feats are done, not all the time are movies done in just one program.

Another example is how pirates used VUE and lightwave. I think lightwave.

@7677890 Not true...I am in the biz and that comment is not true...it is very normal...go to a college that has a good graphics program for your normal 4 years get your bachlors degree then you go job hunting with your college portfolio. Sometimes you can get in with someone while in college, now at that time you could work for little of what your worth but you will do fine after you graduate. You just have to be in love with this kind of work to succeed. Alot of hours involved in cool work.

At any rate, I think to be able to learn anything (just about, except monkey torture) should be available online. People would be willing to share their techniques as long as they can learn from others who are great at their craft. It's becoming more and more stupid to guard information as if we were back in the old days with the guilds. I took 3D studio on DOS.*hides*
