I have not heard one in person so maybe in real life it's not too bad. Maybe. If it sounds like anything in this video there is absolutely no way I would purchase this vehicle. The Prius C is on my list but having this annoying sound without the ability to easily turn it off will be a serious ding against the purchase. People need to take responsibility for themselves both driver and pedestrian and watch what they are doing. Technology shouldn't be forced on us to make people pay attention

Sadly it is the law in the US now. EV's and Hybrids will have to come with this installed in the 2012 model year. IMO it is a HORRIBLE thing. A Jeep Liberty CRD is a lot quieter than my 2010 Prius. Even at a complete stop with the ICE off, the Prius still emits a constant whine that almost all EV motors do when they are semi-idle. I don't blame Toyota for this. I blame our ignorant legislators.

Because the modern citizen is planly DUMB and runs across a busy road plaing with his DUMB smartphone.

If I get hit by a silent maybach or luxury audi A8 W12 it is my fault.

I have to be careful, as driver and as pedestrian.

Stupid idea. the whole idea is to reduce noise pollution not add more to it.

Guess he pulling the short straw and had to make the video that you know everyone hates... One reason I love all the Prii that I have owned is that it makes no noise...looking forward to buying the mod that someone will make to disconnect the stupidest idea Toyota caved into by the PC crowd.
