Original plot, fantastic cast, well made for the screen. The first few minutes nothing special happening, but after that comes totally awesome acting and energy explosions. I am impressed. See this on kòòkica.

And the whole scene with the van going off the bridge... amazing editing. All the acting is great. You can see it to kòòkica. The score is moving and fits perfectly. One of the best films of all time. Without a doubt.

he died whilst making it, he'd done almost all of his scenes, but a couple of them were done with lookalikes... they've spent the past 9 or so months in post-production =]

yeah dude, like, I admire some of his early works, in particular the work he did in the early 90's (though nowaday's it all just seem's to be blown out of proportion!) but ever since the new millenium rolled in, for me, at least, he's produced nothing but shite.

every director has there own style... that's what defines them and separates them from the rest

yeah that may be true, HOWEVER great directors reinvent themselves in each film and take their works into different directions, often offering more depth etc. (take Aronofsky, or Tarantino for example) and still manage to let the audience know that it was THEM who produced such a work, their signature remaining. Burton may have his own style, but the fact remains that he never tries to reinvent himself (or his attempts have failed, miserably), so he's happy with recycled landscapes & actors.

I understand where you're coming from, but i have to disagree. While Burton may use similar quirks and cast members to get him by, i do respect the fantasy he undergoes to gather an audience. His films are too vibrant and rely on special effects ie CGI much too often, but he is there to reinvent an idea and bring it too life in a different way then a layperson would view it. I appreciated Beetlejuice and Big Fish. Those were brilliant examples of how flexible he can be.

It would be ridiculous if the US doesn't back this movie. Regardless of how bad the movie is or could be. It's still going to rake in millions just from Heath Ledger Fans, Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law Fans. Damn I wish i had the money. I'd back this 100%. I actually really like Gilliam's Style. He's up there with Tim Burton imho.

Gilliam has no luck with US distributors, partly because his movies are too good to be commercially successful. I know that sounds silly, but it's true - he's a genius, but not big box office. He doesn't fit into standard formulas. 12 Monkeys and so on did well in the US, but only after Gilliam spent ages trying to talk the big wig pricks round. I can't believe that 'Heath's last film' and the big box office pull of Jude-Johnny-Colin is not deemed enough to make this movie sellable, though!

Tideland was AWFUL. Absolutely AWFUL. 12 Monkeys was very dull and had no taste. But Fear and Loathing is Las Vegas was great. Why? Because it was written by Hunter S. Thompson. If Gilliam had written it, it would have been awful. Tideland is number 1 on the worst movies I have ever seen. This movie does looks good though, because of Heath Ledger.

I read several of the reviews from people who saw the film at last week's LA industry screening and they were all spectacular. They all tell me that I'm going to be just blown away by this film! It's just absurd that the film has not been picked up in the States yet.

It has found a distrubutor terry gilliam has said that someone has just started a rumor, terry said they were waitng to finish it before the americans were going to buy it, and it is premiering at the Cannes film festival next Month
